Master Chew fuck dude sorry
At 6:07 we get a glimpse into the timeline where ytps existed in the 70's.
Those riffs are soo corny...good vid tho
I can't believe you didn't try to replicate the Korg Miku Pedal sound on tape.
What would be the point in reproducing the worst fx pedal ever devised on tape? Even if you could do it, it doesn't mean you *should.*

INF1D3L010 edgy
When did pointing out the facts of life become "edgy?" Did you have anything constructive to say, or did you just come here to pigeonhole me?
Was just dying at the varispeed warp. Makes me think of hanging out with friends recording stupid stuff with a tape recorder.
I found it NSFW.
@@iannickCZ so a wormhole is nsfw?
The wormhole sucked him
@@Shampoid i mean, probably. i cant imagine creating a wormhole is conducive to a productive work environment
The bass speeded up sounded like a beautiful nylon guitar
And the capo'd guitar slowed down sounded like a full EQ boost guitar without a capo on (with a troll singing?).
Used a cardboard box as a snare drum once. EQ'd you couldnt tell.

My favorite past time as a bored class clown was to get people to laugh so deeply/genuinely, that it takes on a childlike pitch and tone. That just makes me so happy.
6:07 I've never seen Rob laugh that hard before.
Well that was fun...
Rob Scallon you’re amazing and you have helped me through very hard times, thanks dude!
It's Quodo me too. Rob has helped me through some damn desperate times of mine. Thanks Rob.

Merle Haggard's bus recorder. Easily the coolest part of the experience.
It’s amazing how not that long who you needed this much room to record anything, but now all you really need is an iPhone to capture the idea and a computer, DAW, interface, and microphone and you’re good.
That laugh at 6:16
Anyone that does their own home recordings has laughed like that when messing about with vocals. 😂😂
Those worm hole sounds are intense. Ever thought of voice acting haha! I laughed to long at that. Makes you very thankful for digital recording now seeing how hard it was then!
J is for Julius yes just saw Robs voice acting debut “wormholes everywhere and everyone’s dying always” and it’s a gem. 10/10
someone should make an animated short of that part

Rob: "Ok, hi guys, we are out here in Siberia recording on this old can and a piece of string, the can was owned by Joan of Arc, and the string was one of the strands Blackbeard used to put in his beard and set on fire. It used to be stored on a government black-site in the middle of New Mexico, and now it's on the internet."

Makes you appreciate how bands like The Beatles were really pushing technology to the limit back in the day.
And old George Martin with his crazy ideas and stuff
Aditya Srinivasulu Martin was a lovely fellow. RIP
I think Hendrix and Eddie Kramer pushed the boundaries much further than George Martin or the Beatles would of ever thought was possible. Go listen to Electric Ladyland. It's chock full of all sorts of odd effects.
The Beach Boys too.. Brian Wilson was a genius in the studio.. The well known ones are Good Vibrations and Heroes and Villains which were recorded in sections in different studios with different arrangements and then the tape was physically cut and spliced to the previous section.. There are literally hours of sections from Heroes and Villains which didn't make the cut! If you haven't before, you should check out their unfinished album SMiLE.. some of that stuff is wild!
Sir Bodsworth Rugglesby III by Klaatu is a song where all of the vocals are recorded on tape slowed down. give it a listen

Aw when you mentioned how The Beatles would've got so excited over this stuff my heart got all warm bc it's so true !! There's this clip up on RUclips from The Beatles' first U.S tour called "The Beatles Having Fun" and it shows them playing around with headphones that you can speak into and hear your own voice and they had a field day over it lol their giggles and messing about and high energy is contagious.

Just hearing Rob laugh made my day
Of all the guitar youtubers out there, Rob stands out. He brings such awesome contents before us.
It takes more work but you can get one hell of a raw and real unique sound from analog recording.
Really cool and informative videos. I think most young people these days have heard of tape recording but never really seen the process in this much depth, it's pretty incredible to know this was the main way of recording music for decades upon decades.
So you grabbed an acoustic guitar but chose to distort your voice??? Duuuuuuude... saturated acoustic guitar is one of the best things about using tape!
Something something On Avery Island
Rob Scallon is a child with immense talent, trapped in an Adult's body, it turns out... Noted.
The hardest laugh attack i've had this month.
Looks like Rob gave Makemebad35 a shoutout!
SEiMEi its crazy/cool to me that he did cuz Rob's vlogs tend to make me think of Damien from makemebad35.
Hey Rob. An idea for a future video: A composition (on guitar, bass or anything) that will, or at least should, sound the same when played in reverse.
Keep up the good work.
Palindrome Metal
he already did, he did enter sandman played backwards but edited in reverse
But im thinking a song that has the same chords, notes, breaks and all that, when you play it both normal and in reverse. Not a song played in reverse and then reversed so it sounds right. Dont know if he has done it already. He honestly might have 😀
EnterTheHatesphere yes.. It's already done.. Check out the opening theme for the series "da Vinci demons" by composer bear McCreary..it's a tribute from the composer to DaVinci as DaVinci could write in mirror image style ruclips.net/video/d5a55uK8f4k/видео.html
But i dont think Rob has done it before
I'm over here laughing so hard the neighbor's dogs started barking.
Robs laugh is beautiful
Oh god, Rob's laugh is so pure, we must protect him
I recorded four different bands using a tape Machine just like this one with 2 inch tape while taking a audio recording and mastering class at San Francisco State circa 2002. Including a Zydeco band where we had 11 mics on the drum kit alone. Yup... old school.
This was one of the most interesting and fun videos I have watched in a while. I was rolling during the varispeed warp.
Never stop trying to find fun and unusual things to do (and film, and upload for our amusement).
I can tell that every couple of months, I’m gonna come back to this video, just to watch the Varispeed warp Bit over and over like I did all day today
Incredibly cool to watch and listen! The sounds are so clear!
4:30 Velvet Underground B-Sides
You have inspired me so much in the past year thay it's unreal. Just yesterday I bought my first guitar and amp ever and you inspire me to play and get really good. Some of your videos have already helped me like string gauges 101. Your awesome
besides that this put a big smile on my face, it was also super educational when it comes to the effects I use so often in my DAW. Especially the thing about flanger, and digital versus analogue distortion is super nice to know!
I've never seen Rob laugh so hard...its the best thing ever 😂😂
holy low pass filter on that camera mic!
By far one of my absolute favorite videos from our man Rob.
Your voice has never sounded better than when it was sent through THAT mic and THAT tape machine. I want them both. Fascinating video mate. More like this!
Double tracking was the original chorus so I wouldn't say it's a work around. Our chorus pedals these days are just deceptively different which makes it seem like a completly different effect process.
7:18 this dude really said “japan-imation” that’s how you know he’s old lol
Stfu weeb
I think he said, "Some Japanime, shit"
This is one of my favorite videos of you’ve done recently, purely for entertainment value and because of how interesting it was.
Reverse: Black Mirror
Speed up: Italy
Speed down: Weird horrible garage band stuff from the 70s
Warp: Weird college student project video from 90s
Flanger: Peter Robinson or Jack Stauber or Mac DeMarco (the initial recording they showed)
Tremolo: (that song with the lyrics “need a hero” in the chorus- new age rock not the old one
Distortion: Too weak
Delay: Funkpop stuff
Tapestop: Lit, subscribed.
Varispeed warping for the win. It’s the only reason to go analogue.
Adam Flanagan Well Edison from FL Studio does that
No, the only reason to go analog is if your band has plenty of money and you want a more accurate recording.
We deserve a Varispeed Warp song ASAP.
12:11 I LOVE that! Sounds so awesome.
I was seeing rain delay without effects and thought if you could make some more...this video is what I wanted!perfect !👍❤️
I LIVE for Robs laugh 😂😂😂
6:12 I couldn't stop laughing
I had an opportunity to record on a large-format console in a room with two tape machines, and wound up using the second machine as a tape delay (as a send-return effect.) On my return channel, I actually sent it back to the tape machine at a volume less than unity to create a "feedback" delay so it sounded more like a typical echo!
8:07 would also work with a source that you can't change the speed of, as long as there's two 'passing' each other. So playing something from Protools to the taperecorder, then playing it back with the tape starting slightly earlier, and then slowing the tape down, would cause one flange when the sounds pass each other. Just one, but it'd be a flange :D.
Oh MY GggOooOOoddddd
_oKaY...aLrIgHt. Walking down the street. Oh! What’s up, Samantha? How you doing? I’m doing fine and - oh, my_ *GoOoOoOdDdD! AaUuUrRrGhHh!!*
Such a crazy educational video
I also really like that engineer guy. Seems like a cool and funny fella. Running into the next room to lose his shit about Rob's vocal antics was too funny.
The sheer joy you show in this video is one of the reasons I'm so glad I found this channel. You're without a doubt an amazing musician but the fact that you have such passion for music (even though I hate using that word) and that you're *legitimately a good guy* and have such a great sense of humor really set you apart. I've never used Patreon before but supporting musicians and people who bring such light and joy to the world is my exact definition of what "patronage" should be, going back all the way to the Renaissance definition of the term, when leaders realized the value of culture, art, and music. I'm going to feel very good about my five bucks a month (edit: I guess I didn't know how much control you have with Patreon. Five bucks up to twice a month! Woo!) knowing that it enables you to keep doing what you love and enriching people's lives the way you do. Shine on.
Man, a makemebad35 reference
Time flies.
I just realized that it's 2019, and he just gave me memories of middle school dicking around and instead of doing work, but watching makemebad3535 and other channels.
That wormhole tho xD
The "time warp" effect was definitely cool. I believe that's initially a shuttle control for quickly scrubbing to different passages to hear so you can edit properly. That machine sounds absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting.
It’s priceless to see people playing with the thousands dollars gear like children
Oh god... Varispeed Warp is just amazing!
LMFAO
Lol, the vocals in the tape slow down sounded like a kazoo.
This reminds me of all the weird and wonderful sound effects the BBC Radiophonic Workshop used to do for an old British comedy series called the Goon Show in the Fifties. Lots of speeding up and slowing down.
One of your best videos yet!
Rob... ive never seen you laugh so hard in my entire life.
