I like Jake's wisdom: "I always felt like you can either let the injury take something from you or you can take something from the injury." This film is great because it captures so many levels of human learning and capacity for care while also exemplifying the lust for life.
Great work Liam and team. Superlative athleticism captured on video for those of us who will not make it up the mountain to see in person as well as the personal look inside Jake's life and perspective. Thoughtfully executed!
Good to see sponsorts taking serously this kind of stories. Not only it gives a place to weaknesses and humility for the the sportsmen and women, but it also a deep breath in a profond sporting spirit. Valuable both for a brand and for their representatives
Just came across this. For anyone out there that's been told a total hip replacement is the only real option but might feel apprehensive, from my own experience all i can say is do it. I had mine done a year ago and it's been life changing. I was back on a board and on a trip to Austria just 5 months after surgery at 45 years old. I was in such a dark place for a good 3-4 years. Not just snowboarding, it affected my whole life. All i wanted was to be able to have fun and share experiences with my daughters. My hip was so bad it resulted in severe back issues through over compensating, culminating in a massive blood clot in my leg. My only regret is not doing it a couple of years earlier.
Growing up I rode with Jake a few times during night practice at Mt Hood Meadows (SHOUT OUT CHIP TREADWELL!). Watching him ride and getting tips off him was amazing
i charged 6 feet of vert. no pads or anything. ya know 'hesh' style for 4 years. i took some nasty falls but i will say knees over toes guy is a very underated physio. good film. enjoi the powder.
Whoa. I guess the yoga practice did not prevent the impingment. Wild to think he needed a replacement at such an early age. I might be right behind him in line.
Doctor GOOD VIBES dropping in with your weekly prescription today I'm prescribing you with an extreme dose of good vibes found by going outside singing-dancing-laughing have fun because life's far to short to miserable my dude

great work boys. stoked to see you teaching your girls to ride Jake! hopefully i'll bump into you with my 5 year old at baker.
I'm 58 years old and I was a ski Maniac at Mount Bachelor, I miss it so much after double hip replacements. I really want to get back on my sticks ❤❤
do it brother
even if your legs dont work you can sit in a ski chair and 2 ski's in hand.

Helmets might not be a bad idea...
There’s only ONE liminal and that is Rodney Mullen-out of ALL words on this planet-be original already
Overpriced garbage.
Why anyone makes snowboard movies anymore is beyond me. They will always be an abomination.
Mmmm skier?

No, that’s the mirror bud
@numerical968 - you must of forgot that a good majority of ski companies and resorts survived because of snowboarding and snowboarders.
is it just me or do seem snowboarders always be the wisest people on this planet? :D
