With your Certate mate you really shouldn’t be applying any oils/greases/sprays to the line roller, you will have destroyed the mag oil. Best to send it to Daiwa to service and you really need to rinse the line roller lightly under fresh water after every session in the salt.
Sneaky Wednesday upload 🙌 as you know I’m shimano man but I’ll happily admit those Daiwa reels of yours do feel/sound so good. Interested to see how the gen black goes after a good thrashing 🎣✅
Yeah Shimano all the way. They stay smooth, and never had a complaint from Shimano if anything ever went wrong - they put stuff right - even with bicycle stuff.
The difference is that the certate will have a much longer life span if you treat it well after every fish just mist both reels and dry them with a dry rag
Was it cheaper cause it's smaller 😂. On a serious note I wouldn't put WD-40 on your reels it's a degreaser same as on a bike WD 40 will just strip grease out of the bearings. Use a light machine oil instead 👍
@@nathanmcgrath9038 I only use it on the bail arm pivots and rollers but will switch to machine oil. Never open up the reels as they are pretty well sealed and don’t get super salty Cheers
Couldn't resist myself, picked up the 2500C. So far, I'm happy with it. It caught fish! Slightly concerned with the mag seal in the long run.. same deal as the Cerate. Don't like the idea of never being able to service it myself. Also, you are 100% correct about the Certate. They are delicate little princesses. Mine has had the tiniest drop and it's developed a little hiss. Definitely not as smooth as new.
@@wholybatman you can buy the msg seal oil and tool to open them I’ve opened up an older one with a pair of grips but up side is they don’t take water in mostly . The bail roller is the only let down but that cops wet line all the time so I guess it’s to be expected . Gen black feels mint so far let’s see how it goes in a year of hard use

@@brokenlyric8253 no it came with the knob
You sure is not the 5000?
I believe Aus 4k 5k version will come with so called “ARK” knob.

WD40 is a water displacer. It's neither a degreaser, nor a lubricant.
Would you recommend a Stradic FL 5000 or a TD Black MQ 4000?
@@nathansoutbackfishing personal choice. I’d go and feel both in the shop play with each and decide from there
@@Saltfix yep that’s what I’m thinking of doing cheers mate!
I have 3 of the stradic fl 5000’s and reckon they are hard to beat for quality at that price point. Best reels i have had.
Great video

@@Saltfix That's interesting hey.. I thought they kept the mag seal oil proprietary and off the retail market. Cheers for the response!
Enjoy the tackle talk, looking to get the same reel.
