Just purchased. Wanted to say an extra thank you for making them available to load into any of the 4 user banks. This was a very pleasant surprise that every pack owner should include.
I just got my Rev2 today and I'm mostly just going through presets and doing some quick tweaks to see what happens. One thing I don't like is that it seems that 75% of the factory presets are 2 patch layers or splits. It's really hard to hear the true core sound of the instrument when they do that. Your soundset here is so much better than what the factory presets offer. I find yours are really good as they are all great classic "meat & potato" presets with almost all of them single layer. Great to use as starting points for further development. Thanks for putting together such a great custom soundset!!
Umm, it’s a poly synth, what do you expect from its presets that are there to show its capabilities?! It’s like buying a sports car and moaning it’s too fast. If you want a starting point, initialise a patch. Don’t know how to get the sound you want? Maybe you bit off more than you can chew.
I bought it in 2018 for 1800 euros for the 16 voice keyboard version. Right now they're asking 2900 for it. lol. It used ot be affordable, but that's no longer the case I'm afraid. Stil it's an awesome synth. Not the fattest sounding one, but it's got it's own unique sound. I hope that ione day they'll come up with a version that has a multimode filter and some more FM stuff, such as cross mod.
@@payt01 Yeah I bought mine about 7 years ago, it has Dave SMith on it and not Sequential anf I bought the 8 voice version because it was affordable then and I knew it could be upgraded later and 3 years ago I did upgrade it ti 16 voice. Unlike the Korg Prologue later on where I immediatley went for the 16 voice one there as the 8 voice was totaalt different and the 16 voice was affordable too ( about the same price as the 8 voice Rev 2 )
Lovely sounds , trying to decide between rev 2 and prophet 6 , tough call p6 sounds better but only 49 keys and less modulation options .... up til your video i thought rev2 sounded a bit VST and weak but your sounds are great
With all the patches I have heard so far I don’t hear the LFO out of sync issue when you play different chords. I am unsure if you know what I am talking about. If you use any of the 4 LFOs for modulation and routing even with key sync enabled that LFO is linked to each notes or each chord so if you play a new note or chord the LFO does not start over from the start of the waveform curve but continues from where it left off making the LFO sounding out of sync. I don’t hear this issue especially when you’re using vibrato are you using the LFO for vibrato? There is a RUclips video on mentioning the LFOs don’t have a global setting, I’ll have to link it here but I cannot hear any issue at all with your patches when playing individual keys and chords the vibrato sounds perfectly in sync.

Hi Roberto, I just found your video here, watched it, enjoyed your playing and now have some questions for you. 1- Do you know which synths were used in making these two 80s hit dance songs? 1- " give me tonite" and 2- " let the music play" both by the same recording artist SHANNON. I cant figure out which synths were used to make those great synth melodies. I think it was the prophet and the moog, but im not really sure. My second question for you is.. Would you like to talk more about possibly playing synth on 3 full albums of new 80s synth music that i am remaking? ( and if you might live in or around the east coast area )???? I‘m currently thinking about replacing the Rev 2 by a P6. The latter has more character, similar to the P5, while the Rev 2 is a Jack of all trades which can‘t do anything outstandingly good. However, this makes it a good companion for the OB-6 (and the PolyBrute in my studio).
I will send the file to your email as soon as I receive the payment, in the description on PayPal also write your email where I have to send the file. Thank you
Grazie
Knob fiddlers, or enthusiasts who enjoy tweaking and creating new sounds? Players, or wannabes who don't have a clue about subtractive synthesis and sound creation? See, there are nice ways of saying things and derogatory ways of saying things. Taking things to the extremes here, if all you are bothered about are presets, the last thing you would do is buy a full analogue synth or modular setup. Likewise, if you were massively into sound creation, the last thing you would do is buy something like an arranger keyboard. As it happens, the Rev2 offers something for everyone - sound creation for those into that side of things, and presets for those who want the warmth and character of analogue, but don't have the time, knowledge or inclination to create their own sounds. Just because some people like to fiddle with knobs, doesn't mean they can't play.
@@robertogalli8691 I want to buy it too, and that answers one of my questions. My other question is about changing programs. Is the Soundtower program necessary for changing programs via midi?
If these had been the factory presets I may have bought one rather than the Prologue 16. The factory presets were crappy and aimed at non-playing knob twisters.
Good luck with the tuning on that Prologue. I loved the sound of mine but it constantly produced sour notes and serious OSC drift. The Rev2 on the other hand I can count on for performance.
charles My Roland Jupiter 8 had very few useable factory patches as well. I have a Rev2 16 voice and the factory patches are probably the most uninspiring of any modern synth I’ve ever bought. Besides me needing to really dig into this and do some major programming, I feel it’s going to need a trio of good external effects as well (though running it through my DAW and adding VST effects may do .. I’ve yet to try that) Funny you mention the Prologue .. I’ve been watching a lot of Prologue videos recently now that the whole tuning issue is supposedly fixed, and almost every video I think man this sounds a lot better than my Rev2 .. I’m VERY close to picking up the 16 voice version.

So glad DSI didn't put lights on the pitch & mod wheel. Almost gives the rev 2 a more vintage look than the 6.
The flipside: I often overlook the activated mod wheel at poor lighting conditions because the contrast to the panel is minimal. :/
