    Very common for the startup cap to go low capacitance, high ESR, leaky or some combination thereof. I had an SMPS just this week where the zener (not present in your unit) went leaky and caused the low Vcc to the controller chip.

      Have had that in a couple devices. I remember the startup caps from when my dad was in business. He'd get a bunch of dead VCRs after a power outage.

    I’ve been using manual focus for years, it is a better way of doing it, I plug my camera into a monitor so I can see it at a decent size.
