    These look to be a great bit of hardware to improve ride stability.
    I'd like to see how that mount looks in a year or two after 150-200k. Those mounts are not engineered for constant load. I'm thinking they're going to crack around the joint to the frame.
    Same goes for the rear Sumos. There are a number of people who have switched to air ride without beefing up those points and ended up with cracked frames.

    Put a piece of paper towel in the socket then press the nut into the socket. The friction will hold the nut while you reach in and start it.

    Easy and simple, thanks for the video. And don’t forget to do alignment after installation

    Maybe I missed it. But did you use the floor jack or was it doable just on the ground?

    • @vandingo1
      @vandingo1  2 года назад +2

      Hi, I used a floor jack in order to unweight the front suspension. Once lifted, it is critical to use fixed weight approved jack stands. Also, highly suggest wheel blocks. I am a DIY’er happy to share my experience, but seek professional help is you have any concerns. Good luck!

    My front bump stops faces upward on my 2022 4x4 sprinter while yours face down. For me the ends of the stabilizer bar (upside down u-shape part) is in the way of where the sumo spring goes. What year is your Sprinter? Anyone else have this issue?

      Mine is a 2wd 2021 and don’t recall if drive type drove a different Sumo Spring part number? My memory is their phone support is good so perhaps give them a ring to clarify. Good luck

      @@vandingo1 thanks. I spoke to someone at Van compass. They said it’s OK for the stabilizer bar to rest on the sumo spring when you’re changing a tire or lifting the van. To install you just jack the car up about 50% and it slips right in.

    engineers should have to install their designs before production. why put the nut down in a hole? doesn't make sense

      My daughter bought a +200M cargo van pre pandemic for 12k here is the US, that same price mileage range vehicle doubled during chip shortage. I chose a 2wd petrol van so don’t think I will need to lift for my purposes. All the suspension work I have done is for load carrying and tow potential. Maybe next van will be shorty with lift…who knows.

    Is it it a bump stop or a spring? It doesn’t look like a spring.

    • @vandingo1
      @vandingo1  2 года назад +1

      Hello Mark, yes it’s a bump stop made of some sort of high density rubber. Sumosprings website has a description of the product. From my understanding it’s designed for stability and some load support.

    how's your van handles in winter? snow road?

    • @vandingo1
      @vandingo1  Год назад

      Don’t really know. 6K miles in Texas and no snow as of yet, but will circle back after rolling of the white stuff. Expecting to use chains if conditions warrant them.

      Let me say I do baby it, so consider this when I relay 17-19 in the city, a little better on the highway. But also van is not completely built out, guessing another 750lbs for interior finish.

    Those look way too big and won’t allow any travel. IMHO
