I literally just said hi to my new neighbor yesterday, he side eyed and flipped me off. I was even going to offer him muffins...

I related with Garnt so much when he went on a tangent about the 5 minutes before a meeting and people got a bit too personal in their talk. Like, I’m just here for the cheque and go home to play games

My neighbour is just genuinely nice and I feel bad not reciprocating. He offered to do the front yard when I was away for a couple of weeks once and I reluctantly agreed. He did a fairly decent job but chopped a big branch from my peach tree believing that it was infected. It was regretful because it's going to take a few years before the fruits will come back but I'll take his word for it (and at least that front branch isn't going too far into the front fence, making people walking past take fruits whenever they want). I didn't think he had any ill intentions but there's no way I can repay him for the work.

@@valhallakombi7239 he was a child INTERN, where he probably was their water boy/secretary making 0 dollars an hour. It is not a real job where you are held accountable like an actual employee and have real responsibilities to fulfill for your coworkers and real boss or you’re fired and jobless. you’re the one coping xd

Idk bro. My first ever friend is a neighbour of my old house when i was a kid and we still friends till this day. I mean i think it’s beneficial to have good connections with tou neighbours. You can lend each other stuff if someone needs something. Like for example you need more oil to your lawnmower. You don’t have oil in the storage so you can ask your neighbour to give u some so you can do your task there. If they need something I’m willing to lend them. It’s like mutual exchange. I think it’s fun to be friends with the neighbour. Imagine playing board games or barbecuing together with your own families. Like you can make a family friend dynamic. I’m willing to receive a helping hand and giving a helping hand.

I'm surprised and sad seeing these comments. I've sort of become an introvert against my will. Grew up in the country and was homeschooled/online schooled till college. You get used to being alone. College and work have become my places to socialize and reach out to people, but it's so difficult, especially since I don't drink. I always like baking something for my classmates at the end of a semester and stuff and would always be sad when only a few people would try some. At least now I know what other people may be thinking when I share food. 😅 It's purely out of good intention and is just how I show that I'm fond of people. Idk what's wrong with being friends with a neighbor. All my childhood friends were neighbors though, so... But, to each their own. I did make some friends who share similar points of view, but why do most of them have to be guys? Almost all the girls I know hang out by drinking, and the guys share more of my interests, but we don't really hang out since risking feelings or a relationship isn't an option (they're in relationships, or I'm not interested). Feel free to give me tips, because I would like to connect with more people.
Edit: I think I know what I'm doing wrong. I have trust issues (like Joey) and am introverted (like Garnt), but I want to be like Connor. Now what do I do? 😂

I remember when I was in high school working in a restaurant as a busser, a middle-aged, schizophrenic waitress (her words, not mine) would neverending complaint from bad customers/work life to fighting with her daughter and personal issues. I, the introverted/shy person that I am would just nod and go "mhmm" everytime. But in my head, would think "IM 18 YEARS OLD! I DONT WANNA HEAR ALL OF THIS!

I think we don’t talk personal stuff with coworkers because we are at work as professionals. Especially for guys, if you rant about your personal problems, you will be considered as weak. That said, we can be friends with coworkers! Those guys you hang out after work or weekends to do fun stuff and make the work a bit bearable (which is funny since you guys probably won’t talk about personal stuff during working hours unless on a coffee or smoke breaks).
The muffin story is funny to me though, isn’t that normal? I mean my coworkers even offer me food sometimes 😂

I’m with Garnt and Connor for both of their reasons. Sorry, but I genuinely don’t care about your politics or your fucked views on the world. I just wanted to get my cheque thank you. Sure we can agree to disagree, but we can’t help to be passionate for serious topics and at a workplace it’s way more important to maintain the peace for the sake of team synergy.
This isn’t to say you can’t be friends with some of your colleagues, but again, it’s a workplace. I’ve literally seen people two timing their friends to get promotion or to save their asses. Sure, be friends, but have boundaries and remember that work comes first.
