I'm gonna give this rig . . . . . uh, 4 out of 5 beards.
Hahahahahajahahahahahaahahhaa
Just because its soo..."match-y" with the same helix amps, ill give this a 3.5 out of 5 beards
It a very fluff thing to do. Very pernickety dude, I suspect
Codes ENT boo Helix! In ears? Gone is the hearing.
@@luminositymusicbrianpricka6357 yeah, i like stage volume and monitors too. Real amps man! Lol
@@freepadz6241 well as far as me, i was just being funny with it, but yeah i do think that Fluff does have his pernicious monents
Fluff, Bro, this new band of yours is amazing!!! There’s always a special place in our hearts for any band we be played with but this outdoes Rest,Repose all day. Nice work to you and the guys!!
I know it’s much more practical these days to do what y’all are doing, but I’d be lying if I said that I don’t miss seeing big ass tube amps on stage. Honestly, not even just tube amps. Just amps. Anyway, fun video! Peace.
I bet some bands are gonna go back to putting fake cabs all over the place just to get that feel back.
@@cerrinhendricks241 people already do that. But if you’re the one loading those dummy cabs, doesn’t really make sense lol
@@cerrinhendricks241 I hate it too. But the touring today there's no money out there for bands to hire a crew to move all the gear. I hate in-ears I love the volume but I'm old school...
I mean back in the day bands normally only had a few amps… what you saw on stage was stacks and stacks of cabinets… like Marshall stack cabinets most famously
You have one of the most cohesive live setups for a band; at the size of dragged under. Thats awesome.
Very cool! Love these live rig shows.
This is a beautiful rig, how streamlined but still fully useable it is is awesome!
It was a great video...l really appreciate you putting this together and sharing it with us. Cool!
Love rig rundowns.
Very nice, man.
that snare looks dooope, cool finish
that's gotta be the best outro to a video i've seen in a long time.
Cool setup guys
I'm glad this video happened because it was good to know what rigs they use. Very cool stuff! Helix rules.
Love these live gear vids!
I've been seeing the instagram feed from this string of shows and am so glad you put this up.
I'm an LD and I was just thinking to myself yesterday how much i wanted a rig rundown of the headliner's touring package. This gave me my info from the background!
Thanks!
JDC1 and Dartz 360 on pipes pretty simple.
Looks super clean!!
Jooosshhh!!!! Those Willie pickups are sick
Missed videos like these.
What? Video is over? -Nah, quality content! You guys have really a decent setup to out with!
Video was good... in fact... I think the end might have been my favorite part... good to see a smile in the morning :)
Of course, perhaps it wasn't morning for you... but it was for me...
Please come to Atlanta soon , 🤘🤘
Great overview Fluff! You ever consider doing live sound yourself, given your experience with both mixing/engineering and playing live?
Great video! I was hoping for Richard Rawlings to come out and say "where's my beer?"
Ah, back when you could play live ...
Awesome! I have wondered before why you don't send the drums into your IEM's?
Awesome!!
Hi Fluff,
Thanks for explaining your rig. It was quite insightful!
Could you explain the signal chain for the noise supressor and why do you need an extra pedal instead of using the helix' noise supressor?
I see that this video is "old" and this brings me to the second question.
Do you still uses the extra noise supressor?
I tried to find this information in your videos but I didn't have any success, that's why I decided to ask!
Thanks a lot and keep up your amazing work! Love your videos!
more like this, please
I need that Dragged Under Helix patch. Hook us up Fluff?
He just did man 👍
Hope it was a great show! Fast-N-Loud is my goto fav show and dig all the guys at GMG. How was the venue?
I LOVE this setup. It's easy and simple physically but with complex and amazing gear. I have one question tho: if yall were able to hire a team like for stage setup in the future, would yall go back to heavier gear like tube amps and big cabs etc?
P.S. FAQ Monday answer would be awesome 😊
Great setup!..ipray that we can have that kind of equipment to our church..
So what do you do for drums in your ears? I know in the past you had just a mic under the throne right? I was thinking of trying that with a small boundry mic for ours.
Impressive! Please don't forget to share some performance shots
0:10 - 0:20
What sort of subliminal sorcery is this?
Awesome setup. Did you switch out the stock speakers in the Revv cabinets or can you buy them with the Neo creambacks?
Love the video 🤘 I do got a question tho? So in your split your running your vocals & guitar for your ears, how come no drums? Like a snare or overhead? Do you get enough bleed from your vocal mics? I use snare and maybe a lil touch of an o.h in my ears..thanks for sharing.
No drum mic’ing for the ears? Do you just send them straight to FOH?
Two Sides of Me I’d rather just have a mix coming out of the mixer with the band. No drums. Pre-mix and fx drum micing never sounds good. Just muddies the in ear mix and the ambient sound of your kit which is definitely audible playing over the band mix. A throne thumper is good for kicks. Although I would never use stage wedgies or rely on ambient noise for drums. You have to hear the band in your ears even without drum micing
Same question here. Fluff, as a guitar player, how are you getting drums into your IEM?
Glenn Montis Honestly for a stage that small for most of their gigs, and since theres no loud amps behind the players, you could hear the acoustics over the in ears im sure. Its no different than a large practice space band set up. No stage noise, just drums. Which leaves the in ears at a safe volume.
However, its always beneficial to have drums in your ears, even if the volumes are down to a bare minimum, wouldn't hurt. If I were a drummer, I would have a decent drum mix, and work the rest of the instruments around that.
For you musicians doing your own mixes, start with your instrument first to get an adequate level, and then add the others and work your mix around it.
Dude, I love frank! He’s one on my favorite live sound engineers in Dallas.
In case you record the show, how do you capture the drums if there is no mic input of it into the x32rack?...
Of course I would miss your band when you guys drop by my hometown...🤦♂️
Fluff should check out the The Fryette LXII Single Space Tube Power Amp. The world’s first 1-space all-tube stereo 50W/channel power amplifier, that can be bridged for 100W mono.
Then again, without micing the cabs there probably wouldn’t be much advantage to having tube power. But the front row fans would love it.
Great video. How many channels do you send to FOH? Also, do you use crowd mics?
The racks are well put together, pedal boards are tidy. 5 out of 5 beards
Agreed!
The orange pedal baby is good for bass :o . I didn't that 100 watt A/B was good enough to run an 8X10 bass cab
It was good... Oh yeah... Cheers!
You mentioned the helix gates are more noise clamps then gates can u elaborate on that …I mean should I get a noise gate and loop it and add as block in my set up for better gated tones more sustain then helix gates
Can you go over the DMX stuff you're running?
The helixes are sent to the splitter in mono? Or are you using the Line6 link AES/EBU?
Thanks for this video ;)
How do you handle drums? Micing just for the FoH and not included in the Monitor mixes?
Frank! Hes great:)
Taylor Morgeson Fraaannkkkkkyyyy!!!!
Wasn't this the gig that was supposed to be accross the street at gas monkeys outdoor gig but the weather was bad? I love the indoor gas monkey venue that's shown here. I saw Circa Survive with MeWithoutYou there and Anthony green walked into the front doors before the gig and I was the only one to notice so I walked next to him and exchanged a few words. I might have thrown my arm over his shoulder like we were best buddys......yeah....lol but he was crazy nice about it. That was such a great show since I love both circa survive an Mewithoutyou, the people I was with didn't think they liked mewithoutyou bit after their set they realized what an amazing g band they were. Such great energy that night. I left soaked in sweat, as I've said before, only some of it was mine. I caught a cold walking from the venue to my car cause the temp had dropped and I was dressed in shorts an a t shirt but I bought a circa survive hoodie but it was so soaked in sweat it didn't help lol. I lost my voice for a week.
Did my ears deceive me? Mr. Sparkle has merrow fishmans? I use them too, in my 2007 LTD ESP Viper 1000. Id be interested in what drew you to them. I funny recall you mentioning that tidbit before. I like how under high gain the individual string clarity, roundness of the bottom end, the snarl it gives in the mids, and how the treble strings arent so chimy/bright but still poke through. The response and dynamics i feel when i dig in is just like a passive(as designed). And not muddy/sizzly. More spanky/really shows the character of the strings
Hey fluff just wondering how you transport the Helix floor controller. Does it have its separate case?
R u guys gonna be coming to northwest Indiana or northeast Illinois in the future?
So you’ve switched to amp modeling live? I think you used to run the helix with a tube amp in 4 cable method didn’t you?
Are you using IRs on the helix since you are not micing the cab? If so are they going to the cab as well?
Stupid simple question, with that setup are all your body packs and picks and such in the IEM rack drawer?
Do you ever have any issues with the wireless operating in the 2.4Ghz range?? I've been looking to replace my current wireless, and was looking at a Shure GLDX14R system - until I discovered that it operates at 2.4Ghz - which is also used for WiFi (routers, PC's, cell phones, access points, printers, etc.). Have you had any issues??
How are you getting the tracks to foh? Are you using the x32 as your interface?
People playing modelers live always complain that they don't cut and get buried by real amps.Having 3 Helixes fixes that problem because they're all equal.None of them cut.
Is there a reason Fluff doesn’t have the big volume knob on his helix all the way up? (Looks like it’s at about 3 o clock). Just curious. Some people online say to dime it.
Fluff can you tell me what usb c hub for the MacBook Pro is that?
what about the drum mics? how do you guys listen to the drums through the in ears? At least a L&R overs would solve the problem, right?
Can you please do a video on how to set up a patch on a HD500X or even your Helix from scratch without using a computer? I’m late to the party on this and I’m trying to run a HD500X into a Mesa Dual Rectifier using the 4 cable method and I’m having a hard time getting usable tones. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I have about 2 weeks before I need to return it.
I know most of the live sound is direct from the helix but is that orange pedal baby powerful enough to push that 810 and create any volume? I love the idea for my bass rig but I feel like 100 watts wouldn't push a bass cab like a 500 watt amp does.
There is a possibility that it's quite loud when absolutely cranked with a boost in front of it through those speakers, but I also felt that was strange when you get tons of cheap loud clean bass amps which would probably be louder.
You were in Dallas?! You were in my neighborhood dang it I would’ve come to the show had I known 😩
Same here.
Put a small, battery powered LED strip with some 3M tape in the guitar case that you can flip on and off so you don't have to keep a flashlight on hand for the luminlays. It'll just keep them charged while you swap guitars in and out. Idk if this will actually work or be practical, but I just felt like throwing the idea out there.
Also, this is like the 8th time I've watched this haha
So where do the drum mics plug in? Are those not ran through the split?
Any live footage to hear it all come together?
Paincakes ruclips.net/video/uogdDztktf8/видео.html&feature=share. SKIP TO 5:17
How are the drum mics getting to your iem?
So you are not feeding Drum mics into the x32 for in-ear monitoring?
Why dont you do MIDI switching for your patch changes on the Helix? Youre already running a daw, seems like a no brainer.
I am actually interested in your sound reinforcement and how it's set up if you could show that sometime. I didn't notice a monitor for the drummer so I assume he's hearing through a PEM as well?
Yes. There's a video where he explains it all
Good video
Hope you meet Richard Rawlings!
What size is that gator pedal board? Or which model is that?
Are you guys running your own lights this tour?
I understand using the Helix for space and going direct/in ear monitors but doesn't it defeat the purpose when you need to still bring all those cabs??? Wouldn't using a real tube head be better?
Tavares Project you always get the same sound. And on bigger stage you get less feed from the PA. To compensate that loss you bring some cabs.
Do you mic the cabs at all with this setup?
Do the drums go into the ears as well?
How did I know it was a senhiser mic before you even said it
Hey Fluff, could you tell me what case do you use for the Helix Control+Mission Pedal ? I have the same setup but haven't found the right case for it yet... Keep it up you rock :)
Circle Three Designs
Riffs, Beards & Gear awesome thanks for the reply :)
how does drummer monitor?
live show vlogs always include an excessive amount of wheezing. not a knock i do the same thing. are we all out of shape? 😂😂
Cool setup! First!
a solid 6/10
So you are only mixing in ears for guits and bass? the drummer ? The guitars are sent in mono signal to FOH?
Didn't get how you get the drums to your in-ears. No trash mic connected and also no other mics from the drums going to the splitter. Please enlighten us :D
didn't you say the helix noise gate was the best you've used at one point?
The World Is In Your Way!! Top best album of 2020!!
🤘🏼🤘🏼
How do you route the drums to your in ears?
i like the drum set up you guys got there. simple. not too much going on. only the essentials.
drummer here. can confirm. you don't need to be technical about drums. we only care about our cymbals, pedals (with triggers) and snare.
at 4:49 what in the world is that eq for?! on the x32...
You gave up on the Sennheiser wireless? Or was that only for the In-ear stuff?
I think just in ear
Ever get WiFi interference with the G90???? Mine was so bad I had to stop using it.
Riffs, Beards & Helix
Do you use wireless system?
do u guys do not split the drum channels? Are these channels going directly into the FOH mix and you guys don’t have any drums on your in ear? 🤔
Where are the valves?
