Wow I used to live in Germany and my mom was stationed in Ramstein but none of this existed when we lived there. We were there for four and a half years. I really miss this place and wish I could go back. I lived there from 7 years old to 11 and a half years old. This is so crazy
I don't believe there is a single brick of any building left of The Ramstein A.F.B. I knew when I was there as a 10 yr. old dependent in 1968. That's exactly a half century ago. The host of this very nice video mentioned they sell things in dollars and Euros. It used to be deutschmarks and fennings or phennings, I can't remember the exact spelling. There were 3 theatres on Ramstein AB in 68 and I remember things were split on either northside or southside. Kentucky Fried Chicken was the first American food chain to invade West Germany and they did it in 69 in K-town, a year later a McDonalds opened in Wiesbaden. Ramstein has always been Nato headquarters and they have always been one of the most if not the largest populated military installations on the planet. The temporary living quarter when you first arrived at Ramstein was a little rinky dinky barrack looking building across from the flight line called the Pink Palace. Looks great. At that time I have helped in the work on the interior. I was responsible as a draftsman for different ceiling, walls and disguising. The ceiling in the Macanoni is one of the things. The Mall is also familiar to me very much. The things from gypsum were partially drawn by me. Cool. I hope, it likes you. (Sorry for my bad English)
I hope to see this someday. Growing up I was in bamberg and hohenfels in the 80's and 90's. Nurnberg was the big exchange then until it closed. My husband can't get stationed here but we can get to Stuttgart. If it happens i'm definately coming to visit. Thanks so much for posting!
WOW!! I was with my dad living at Vogelwegh housing with my dad as a dependent and his unit was at Ramstein AB, I was there from 1984-1991. We didn't have have this mall, we had a little dinky food court and a 2 story BX/PX. I probubly couldn't recognize the base today with all changes. We moved to Riverside CA. and then moved to Puyallup Wa. and Clarksville TN. I hope to move back to Riverside CA. I miss the beaches and going to San Diego which is 90 min. away from Riverside

We were stationed there when the KMCC first opened. Spent a lot of time there in the summers when it was hot!
