Check your Firmware is up to date. Can be done by Wi Fi’ing your Mobile to the I Touch. We also have our two fuel tanks and water tank connected. Next is black water level after I find a computable sender unit. Easy to use, my wife knows what resources we have with the swipe of a finger. Great piece of kit.
You're an extremely inspirational person...the way you plan, the way you work, your finished projects, gives me impetus to continue with my boat, RV and home projects when I feel overwhelmed.
Teal is one of the more handy people out there. Extremely detail orientated. Fun episode to watch loved the side by side with the girls off and Teal working the todo's back on the boat.
I continue to be amazed by your skills. A lot of people wouldn't bother to read through manuals and things and just let someone else do it for them. It's amazing the sorts of things you can learn on RUclips, too. Like, I was able to replace my own automatic window motor in my car pretty easily after watching someone else do it. A lot of things aren't as complicated as we think they are going to be. :)
I'm truly jealous my friend, my 2 girls and 2 boys are all grown and starting their own journey's. I wish we could have done something like this .. i just retired am I'm refitting my old morgan to modern standards, all electric motor and everything. To do some cruising wish we could rewind time sometimes,
I'm sure the girls had a good day, even though delayed a bit. For me, the Hallelujah in this episode is how the new BMS and monitoring devices were 'spliced' into the system and the amazing entire wiring install. OMG 😱 WOW ‼️ See y'all next week. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝 👙 🌞 ✨
Basik is one of the most thought out refits ever. When I subbed while the crew was still in Seattle, I watched the installation of this system originally and was way impressed with the forethought put into the systems. Well done! Glad the ladies made it to and from safe! Fair winds y’all.
I really like how when you originally rebuilt the boat you planned for future additions and made access fairly easy. Some of the boats must do practically magic to add a new electronic or replace something on their boat.
Such a timely episode Teal, I have begun the complete electrical install for our boat and it has the complete Victron ecosystem. Great to watch your perfect neat work again. Hope the girls had a great trip. Cheers Ross
I absolutely love Teal's projects. So detailed and professionally executed! 😊 I also have to commend you on the editing of this video. On a side note, it was fun watching the ladies fly out of the Loreto airport. I went through there about 15 years ago, while on a sailing trip with my uncle in his 36' mono-hull sailboat. That airport has grown up in the decade plus since I've seen it!
Teal, all that beautiful work and no thicked epoxy. Great attention to detail as your usual work method. Still cool 😎 and bask in your hard work. Starboard to the rescue once again.
There is a setting on your new display for DC loads. It will show up as a 6th icon below the inverter icon. Surprisingly accurate for not having it's own shunt. Another great product from Victron.
Great job everyone! Getting to destination is a great feat these days. My last trip home was a 3 day excursion when it orinally was 4 hours! Great job on the boat Teal! Way over my head but I’m glad your happy with accomplishment.
Hello folks, I caught the comment from Emma about you, Linh, having back surgery. I truly hope you're doing well and everything is good. I love you all and wish you the best!
Great camera work and explanations. Thank you. You mentioned Starlink. Did you ever produce a video on your implementation of Starlink? Antenna mount and location, user experience, etc.
Emma having been raised on a boat is such a beautifully well rounded young lady, I wish her the very best At everything she does:). Dad is a Handsome man of a father "Know-it-all" what I mean is he just knows everything! To be clear it's Quite possibly a medical condition? And mom just comes across very special in your videos. Just something Beautiful on the inside that comes across gorgeous on the outside Also she's an artist when she cooks. ❤️ Your family/channel.
Please consider checking that you are using shielded network cables for any coms. e.g. cat 6B shielded is better for noisy electrical environments and is better with longer runs in vessels (uses a thicker cable cores) in that spec. I only use the older cat 5 cables non shielded nowadays for pulling cables
So perhaps I'm missing something but I didn't see a cable for the case ground. ?? I'm Looking at 23:34 at the inverter with the cover off. Nice video btw.
@@OnboardLifestyleThanks for the quick reply. I see that now. I was looking for something the same size as the cables from the inverter/charger to the battery bank. I thought the recommendation was that the case ground cable should be the same size as those cables.
We would have to quadruple our systems storage capacity and solar production to even think about running A/C for 2-3 hours a day. It can be done but we are simply not there yet.
@@OnboardLifestyle even something like a 115 volt (793 watts) Midea 6000 BTU portable air conditioner that cools about 150 square feet would be too much of a power draw?
@@OnboardLifestyle Don't what percentage of time you have shore power available (to make it economically practical for that limited time), but A/C that runs off that would be nice during that time... and if it were the right A/C, could be used WHEN you decide to add enough solar/battery power to run it.
Teal, As usual it looks like you done a top notch job. I do have a question, why didn't you have the air conditioning operating while you were doing the upgrades? From what I remember of some past episodes you have enough power to operate everything off grid. I have often thought your boat with all the improvements would be my choice. Have you ever considered changing over to electric propulsion as well? I have noticed more and more captains upgrading to all electric. Is that something you would do? All the best to you and your family. Btw do you have a drawing of how your boat is laid out? I would sure like to see one. Thank you very much.
We would have to quadruple our systems storage capacity and solar production to even think about running A/C for 2-3 hours a day. It can be done but we are simply not there yet. Ten fold if we were to even contemplate electric propulsion.
Happy friday to one of my favorite families. The wheels look like they belong there. Loved a good project video. Will you remove the old indicator system now that you know that the new one works?
Hey Gene! No, the new BMS requires the old BMS to be inline. We can reinstall it behind the scenes if we need more room on the panel for something else.
One thing I have been thinking about might be an odd question and a bit stupid, , but why not have powerbusses at certain points with thick wires to the power, so you no longer had to run power more than a meter or two from where the systems were to the powerbus. It might be all wrong for or bad, but if not, why not?
We have a Walker Bay Genesis 310 RIB. We love our tender but are sad that she is coming to the end of her lifespan. She is 10 years old and made of PVC. We did put chaps on her last year to possibly squeeze out another year or two, but the tropical sun is breaking her down fast.
Love your videos I live in southern utah and have thought about sailing sea of Cortez do you think my Hunter 26 is capable I currently sail lake Powell and lake Havasu with my wife and daughter ⛵️
Teal, Teal, Teal... It's not modify, it's Improvise & innovate!! Least that's what we say in the hanger with the airlines... FAA, says to never modify anything!!
Nothing against it but I am beginning to think Victron stands for "overly complicated". Use 10 boxes where one or two will do. It is a great business model (for the manufacture) because each box can be cheaper (to compete), but the overall system can make more money all up. Same with the use of nonstandard cables all over when cat 5 (or 6) would do the job just fine. I guess the navigation suppliers have gotten Yacht owners used to this kind of thing. It may have some small utility in allowing things to fit in smaller spaces or be arranged more conveniently. I would have to personally experience that to be convinced. I would also be somewhat leery of the robustness of all the extra connections needed. Still, they do have a good reputation. Having said that, good job. I agree with the utility of your new screen. My two box system (single box with inverter) came with such a screen that includes all that info if less fancy, that I would not want to be without. Your installations are (as always) really well done. Well thought out and executed.
That is not a BMS. The Cerbo GX is a monitoring system. A BMS is a Battery Management System necessary for monitoring individual cell voltages and controlling load and charge disconnects of a lithium battery system and is required by ABYC standard E-13. FYI to you and the viewers, lithium batteries with built-in BMS rarely meet the safety requirements of ABYC E-13. Even the brands with great advertising (Battleborn, Dakota, etc.) are not designed to meet this standard.
