Correction : Geez has no similarity with Arabian script. Okay? False narration caught right in the act. South Arabian was Ethiopian land inhabited by Ethiopic tribes including modern day Yemen, originally called by the Ethiopians 'Eden' before it was raided and assimilated into the Islamic Middle East. Another big thing was that the Christianity arrived not through missionaries but due to St.Phillip by the baptism of the Eunich and later on St.Matthew brought the faith to the coastal areas of the Kingdom. King Ezana made it the state religion afterwards when he welcomed into his palace the refugees from Syria who had converted to Christianity. Nonetheless, the religion had already gained popularity inland as you mentioned basically due to the Judaic teachings of the virgin birth of Jesus Christ which the Israelites refused to accept unlike the Ethiopians. These were just some of the reasons why Ethiopia accepted Christianity as related to the love of the Lord Jesus Christ and His venerated Virgin Mother St.Mary. No other reasons like diplomacy with Rome or whatever stories the West likes to put forth. The only factor that connected the ancient Christian kingdoms was the common pilgrimage that each partook to Jerusalem where ofcourse the diplomatic ties were initiated as a result of the gravitations that the commonalities established. Thank you.

You are absolutely correct. Out of all the Semitic languages ((ge’ez, Amharic, tigrigna, Tigre, guragena, all Ethiopian languages) Arabic & Hebrew) Ge’ez which is the base for the other Ethiopian languages i mentioned is the oldest. It’s at least 4000 years old. Possibly older. Arabic is the newest of all the Semitic languages. The Ethiopian Semitic languages are older by atleast 2500 years than Arabic. So it really makes me laugh when people say that Ethiopian Semitic (we have other languages families in Ethiopia as well) languages come from Arabic! The math doesn’t make sense. Not to mention Yemen, including some parts of Saudi Arabia used be to be Ethiopian colonies for thousands of years!and Arabic comes from where? YEMEN! Do you follow me now? You get ,my point ? To this day like you said, there are Ethiopian tribes that live in Yemen with typical habesha names. To this day! They live around the southern part of Yemen and speak diluted Amharic/tigrigna languages. That makes sense because over the years its been mixed up with other language influences.

Fascinating video about the ancient Ethiopians! I've always been interested in the history of this region, and this video has given me a great overview of the Kingdom of Damot and the Kingdom of Axum. I'm particularly interested in learning more about their trade routes and their role in the Silk Road. Thanks for sharing!

Between 300BC (before the fall or Meroe (nubia)) and 700 AD, Axum (Ethiopia) was one of the 4 major super powers of the world. The other super powers were Persia. Byzantium and of course China. Axum was the First Nation in the world to create denominated coins . Before that nobody had denominated coins. They just measured it to pay saying a pound of gold etc using whatever measurement they used back then. But Axum created denominated uniform coins for the first time in the world. They were so ahead of their times. They also taxed every ship yet passed through the Red Sea for safe package refilling etc….

I here you loud and clear. My good friend who has passed on introduced me to alot of things regarding Ethiopia even though he was from Eritrea. His roommate was Somali actually married my cousin. The two men were very respectful to one another but I noticed that the Somali would always refer to the Eritrean roommates people as habesha people. In later years I read that the Ethiopians/Abyssinians were descendants of the habesha people of Yemen. Clearly it bc evident that there are so many things we don't know.

I think the reason for that, is because on the Enzana stone and some of Axum's coinage, it specifically uses the word ethiopian. Also, during that time, the Greeks and Romans usually referred to Aksum as ethiopia. That's just my opinion, I'm not a historian/archeologist.

there are some rogue ideas from what we Ethiopians think about our country. because most of the ideas are based on the white historians thinking but we have our own mestry. what the ancient scriptures explain. around the middle age many europeans Were coming to Ethiopia to explore but the Jesuit destroyed those documents and convert the idea to white supermasis for the western world. because they found a Utopian society with deep intelectual and spritual community. they know that the Axumite is an ancienylt the peoples life style is based that which we practicing it. Actually the Roman Catholic Revanged us for not supporting them and for being ssuperior Power of christianity in the region. the timing of the downfall of Ethiopian government is the same as the rise of the western world. which is after 16th century. so if you want to know about Ethiopia you should come to our country you will find the truth about the world. thank you
