Reaper has way more features than I'll ever need, but I always learn something I can put to work through your videos. Excellent work!

Very useful content and the fact that Reaper 7 has the default settings you recommend gives me a lot of confidence about the product and the team behind it.

Setting up mouse behaviour for scrolling and zooming should have been the first topic in the first video. How the mouse interacts with the project is probably the first thing anyone will notice when diving into Reaper for the first time, especially if coming from another DAW with the burden of muscle memory. It's probably the most visceral component of our experience with a piece of software and sets the tone for the rest of the setup experience.

I love the possibility to customize mousewheel actions in the arrange view, but I still wonder why there is not the same possibility for the Track Control Panel. I would really like to disable this CTRL-mousewheel zooming everything in TCP, because I often fire it by mistake... 😞

@4:05 I've set my zoom preferences for the main/arrangement window, but I can't see how I can copy these zooming preferences for the MIDI editor. Anyone has any idea?

The MIDI Editor has it's own section of Actions. Change it under "Section" in the upper right hand corner.

I've just started using Reaper as an experienced Ableton user. I plan to still use both DAWs. I tried to set up the controls the same as Ableton by having the mouse wheel scroll up and down the project as per these instructions, which works fine for scroll down, but then scroll up doesn't work. When I try to add the mouse wheel to the scroll up action, it says I have to override the scroll down control. How do I fix this? Sorry, might be something very easy I've overlooked.

Kenny's preferences of zooming and scrolling should be Reaper's default.

Is there a way to just record a number of bars?
Currently recording starta at the beginning and I am having to cut the section before and after I have recorded?

A big question. Why Reaper does'nt have those settings enabled (or disabled) by default? Why do we need a tutorial to do that? Please, answer me, because it is illogical. Reaper is a great DAW, but that geeky, user unfriendly aproach is so irritating, and this is a reason why it isn't in the first 10 on the popularity chart. The most popular is Ableton, and there are many reasons for that.
