This call isn’t about nails! This call is about mindset and behavior.
Exactly.
I think many have missed the essence of this call
I was spending $130 every two weeks. I do my own nails now and I save tons of money. Plus I hated being in the nail salon for 4 hours out of my day. Being there wasn’t relaxing, it was chore to me.
I'm glad you learned how dumb that was!!
@@jimroscovius Know what else is really dumb? Putting mascara on eyelashes. Eyelashes are actually there to protect the eyes. Can’t stand looking at women with tons of eye makeup on.
Money doesn’t cause things. Money Magnifies what’s already there. Good and bad. Money isn’t the problem, it’s the symptom.
Like Coke, magnifies the personality.
This call was like nails on a chalkboard.
good one
Took me about 5 months to learn to properly give myself a haircut. Saved around $120/mon not going every week. Clippers was a 1x purchase of $35.
I do mine myself. I stay with the Army high and tight.
I started buzzing my head so I didn't have to learn 😂 clippers one time buy and forever saved money on haircuts
They do need to be replaced once in a while. I think my first set of clippers lasted 10 years or so, but they're used for me and my two sons on a monthly basis, so that comes out to about $0.10/haircut, give or take a bit.
I get my haircut every 9 months or so.
I bought clippers and give myself a 3/4 inch haircut every month. Cost me maybe $50 and it last me years. Took me 5 seconds to learn and 5 minutes to do
“What’s your household income?”
“Sell the car”
Dave’s contribution to every conversation finds it way in!!!
'Cause it IS the problem!
They dont know where their money is going, guarantee she is doing way more than nails.
I laughed out loud when he mentioned her husband is still buying tools at home depot 😂 that was me! I had to put a line item for that eventually 😅
On 200000 a year , and needs to finance a car
I do my own gel nails for years, I’ve just upgraded to a two handed lamp so I can halve the time. This lady has a huge potential budget but her priorities are skewed when she brought up the car crap and “professional industry” which is code for “I want to keep up with the Jones and I want to justify outsourcing beauty treatments instead of learning to do it myself”. I miss having the money to outsource my beauty treatments but it’s worth it to stay at home with the kids and start my at home business
Do NOT do the dip kits at home. anytime you get your nails done in that way, you’re opening yourself up to getting an acrylate allergy and it’s way more likely at home and it isn’t something you want because it’s in everything. Do you want to be allergic to everything? Don’t do it.

Do your own nails, really
Oh my gosh! I am 57 years old and have never had my nails done professionally. When I did do my nails, I did them myself and used store bought polish.
well, it's better to not have done your nails than be chewing them off because of bad financial decisions...
And professional done nails are so disgusting. There i said it.
Can't believe this was a real question. Thought she was kidding at first lol
Maybe the BMW is the issue. She's going to keep up with the Joneses as long as she can.
6:38 Dave's body language was like "There it is. BOOM. Nice catch, Jade."
Nails are brittle from over treatment! Go without for a few months and they will heal.
Ladies read this. Me and some buddies had a discussion about lady’s nails. Guys are not impressed with nails. If you’re doing it for the guys, wasted money. If it’s for yourself or to impress women keep blowing the money on something that lasts 2 weeks. While I’m at it, stop plucking off your eyebrows

Getting nails done is not a need! Get out off debt first ! I’ve never had my nails done and never will as it keeps my nails healthy (frequent manicures can weaken your nails)…….had colleagues who were broke yet these ladies got their nails done all the time because they think it’s a “need” 😮 …the cost for getting nails done outside can really add up … really expensive long term😂
Don’t really get all these women that do their nails either. Don’t do it myself. And I think you’re right. My nails are pretty nice naturally without any extra work
Seriously! I just keep my nails trimmed and they look fine (never had someone look at them and faint!). I only notice people's nails if they're super long and noisy or maybe if they're really sparkly. They might look pretty but they can also be off putting. Natural nails are the way.
Nails is one of them. Pedicure, hair salons, high fashion shopping, etc. She's spending way more than she says 💯

_Dave blames the man, more news at 11!_
How in the world did this turn into an attack at the husband 😂😂😂
Husband ~ men should never let their house be in disarray.
Since the beginning of time, men took financially care of the household ~ how can u do that if you don't know what's truly going on.
Yes women take care of themselves now, but the things of the past never goes away.
The man leads the house. He is the head of the family and should make the big decisions. When it comes to the home, I make the decisions and mum and the kids follows. Obviously with advice and talking to mum and hashing it out. But whatever happens, I take the responsibility. That's why we are leaders.
Because the Ramsey Simpin’ Solutions Team will very rarely blame the woman. It’s almost always the man’s fault.
And if the man takes control of the situation he's being a dictator smh
@@listerinr well... men should be the leaders. Depends on the type of woman you marry. 🫣🫣🫣

Its so stupid to ask this.. what a waste of call 🙄🙄🤬
I am 69 years old and never in my life have I had a manicure or a pedicure. I do a lot of gardening and work around the house. That is just such a low priority for me. There are so many other things to be concerned about than what my nails look like. I just don’t get it.
You don't get it because you aren't worried about impressing other people!! 😊
Sally Hanson ' hard as nails' in the gold or platinum bottle is the best!
I do my nails, hair and eyebrows. I also do my own shampoo, deodorant and Toothpaste. 😅 I was 320k in debt and we decided to get it paid, last month we just did our last mortgage payment. So, screw salons, I prefer my Roth Ira to get fat and my savings to go up each month. But, I guess people have different priorities 🤷.
Same!
Dave nailed it. The fact that they aren’t on a budget is the issue. Yes the husband is almost certainly spending frivolously as is the wife. If they actually got themselves disciplined this debt will be a big fat nothing burger.
I’m just here to appreciate your pun just in case no one else does.
No pun intended?
As a woman I really am just as shocked as men why people get their nails done 🤷🏻♀️ I got no desire for that. I got pretty natural strong and nice nails and just paint it at home. What a waste of money
I buy $5 fake nails and they last me two weeks. I'm with you, sis. Don't get me wrong, if a person can afford it, go for it! But the number of broke females out here spending $100+ a month on fingernails and eyebrows is so crazy to me.
@alqoshgirl I guess you answered your own question she just said she got weak brittle nails and you don’t soooo idk
Dip powder? My mom did her own nails and still does, she is 80. Finger nail polish remover and emery board and nail polish. Less than what is going on now days and none of it is necessary.
There are several types of nails now. Unfortunately in some circles you are not finished till nails look good. Once I got gel nails and it ruined my actual nail. I stopped that cycle right then but it was hard to live with for about the next 10 months!
Absolutely! My nails when they are done by me, always look professionally done. My Grandma taught me how to do my nails because she was a manicurist in the 1960’s.
Dip powder is hard to make look good, if you don’t know what you’re doing. I bought some, but I have yet to make it last more than about 24 hours. The dip polish starts to crack, and then ship off. It can be really frustrating. One of these days, I’m going to save up some money (I have no debt) and go get my nails done with dip powder, but professionally. I will pay attention to the process and ask questions, and then maybe after that, I’ll be able to do my own at home.
She said she had weak nails. Nail polish at home isn't going to do anything, but chip the first time her nail gets bent backward on itself.
Once someone gets gel nails the nail is RUINED!! I did ONCE for a special event- that’s it for me!
Absolutely, i paint my own
Me too..never again.
At the end it sounded like she was celebrating if they stop retirement that she could keep doing her nails 😂
Crazy they only have 15k savings and earn 200k a year. We earn the same and have 0 debt of any kind, paid off mortgage, and max out our retirement fund each year and even fund a taxable account each month and have 2 years worth of emergency fund saved about 10x the amount they have. And that is not counting our retirement accounts.
As our income changed we didn’t change our lifestyle all that much. Maybe eat out a little more than before. We are also millennials.
Hard nail coverings are applied to make the underlying nail more brittle with each application, increasing the need for further applications.
Scorched earth approach is needed. Let them grow out fully (6 months) and keep them natural. EASY.
We make about as much as them and will put away like 82k next year. This woman is just high maintenance, that's all there is to it.
Layoffs are coming. Don't get too comfortable spending money.
A $60k car probably not the best decision, and if they want to downsize to a lesser vehicle, go for it. But no need to go scorched Earth and drink the Ramsey Koolaid on this one. Yes, get on a budget, allocate for the pedicures and gym memberships, but do not cancel the retirement investing.
Does your employer provide a pension? No? Then pausing retirement savings is doubly stupid. Without a pension to rely on, 15% investment rate is probably inadequate.
So $100 a month on nails which she'd throw at that debt. Thats $1200 a year paid off. I am a nail tech , i don't even do my own nails, i don't even go to other nail techs to get them done either, my nails are always bare, my nails break like crazy too by the way.
Just get a good base coat, gel colour and top coat and paint your nails until you're out of debt ❤, your nails don't have to look perfect.
Could I like your comment 10 times, I would do so ....
Save up for a car, it's not that hard
It’s not Hard. Just time consuming and people don’t have patience, that’s why they make bad decisions
At 65 I feel for the women that feel they need extravagant manicured nails in their industry, especially since I got lacerated by a bank teller one day as I was handing her some documents. Since it was during COVID, I went home to wash my wound. I really liked her, but I let them know what happened only through the 'how was your last visit to our branch' email I received.
I wish that women felt so much more valued without the extra stuff. Do men like the long nails?...........just wondering...........
I tell my students they should be saving their money.
Anyone here still super deep in debt but still spends money getting their nails done at the shop regularly like every 2 weeks (besides for special occasions of course)? What is your reasoning besides "I deserve it"....? Just curious....Several people at my church do nails as a side hustle in weekends and customers can easily spend $200+tip in one visit....shocking!
Certain professionals are expected to look and dress a certain way. Executives and business leaders, in person sales, any kind of fashion or cosmetology, etc. This includes everything down to nails looking nice and professional. You don't have to overspend though. It's not always "I deserve it", it can be " I have to maintain my image."
@@laneyluneva My male cousin is a dentist and said he has to do his nails to look professional--though they wear gloves. That also includes hair salon, automobile, and huge house. High pay career, high maintenance cost I guess. I feel for the new wannabe realtors who think they need a nice car as a realtor image and aren't successful in their job. I guess without them Dave would not have callers and content and we would lose our on entertainment. Software Engineer working from home in boxers and a tank top here.
Vanity. It's a facet of narcissism, which is literally a mental illness. But for whatever reason society celebrates narcissism (Trump, Kanye, Kardashians, Coach Prime, on and on...)
I have never heard anyone in any profession say that nails need to be anything other than clean and neatly trimmed.
Dave's technically wrong here. They make $200k but they don't get to keep $200k. You have to pay taxes. $38,400 comes right off the top. Another 36k in house payments. Another 30k in their 401k. These people said they went through FPU during Covid. THEY FLUNKED BIG TIME!!! They are down to 95k and no wonder they are worried about the BMW. What they should be worried about is the local church doesn't have a FPU course soon enough!
I teared up when Dave told the story about the guy who sold his prized knife collection
You are in debt no you cant. Otherwise keep doing what your doing and embrace your life of debt.
Last year my wife took me for my first pedicure and manicure. Two weeks later my nails looked the same as when I cut them myself. It is definitely an unnecessary luxury.
And that is why you have to get them done Every Two Weeks. 😆
She HAS to do her nails. B.S!
$16,000 a month and her main issue was wondering if she should cut the $50 nails out the budget? That’s obviously not the problem 😂
Much like the government, this couple has a spending problem.
"The budget is like bloodwork"
I love that
I took a fake nails class. Now I spend $30 every 2 months and do my nails every 2 weeks. Like 2 hours of just me time 😂😂 hide from my family.
Damn, Jade looking extra hood today!!!

Skip to 0:34 for culturally inappropriate remark. Skip to 5:32 for BlameTheMan TM.
You can get your hair and nails done with Dave's new formulaic blend, "Beans and Rice". Available at a dollar store near you!
It’s an extremely indulgent luxury. No men at work are judging your nails, guaranteed.
I cut my own hair. Oil my own cuticles. Buy secondhand clothes. This is so doable.
according to Dave the guy is usually in the wrong
Constant use of acetone and the UV lamps involved in gel manicures can weaken the keratin in the nails and cause a rough surface leading to brittle nails and even breakage
jade is SERVING...PERIOD!
I've been debt free for a year now & have long beautiful nails- I cant do gel as they destroy my nails, so I paint them myself!
And of course Dave makes it sound, to the caller, that it is all her husband doing all the spending. Likely, he is spending a lot of frivolous money, but more than likely, she is too, but he just gave her vindication that she is not the one responsible.
Her nails are probably brittle from the nail treatment if she gets those fake nails. I had them once. Never again. Have nothing against nail salons- I get a pedi two or three times a year, but during the winter I don’t have anything on my nails because it’s very bad for your nails.
Fifty dollars every two weeks? Oh my... The nails. 😂
After the learning curve, it is actually easy for women to do their own acrylic nails at home with a kit from a professional beauty supply store. The kit should include an antifungal base, and two-part acrylic (activating liquid dipped into acrylic powder used to fill the cuticle or build up the nails), forms for extending the nail length, and a fine applicator brush. Additional supplies are cuticle nippers, cuticle pusher, a mask, and foam core nail files in coarse and fine grits.
The process: Use the cuticle nipper to chip up loose acrylic at the base of the nail. Paint the nails with antifungal (this step is important). Then dip the fine brush in the liquid and use it pick up a blob of the powder. Apply and smooth the blob of powder at the base of the nail to blend with the existing acrylic. The cuticle pusher can be used for shaping and detailing. Sand the hardened acrylic to blend into the existing nail. When everything is smooth, paint the nails. If a nail chips off, create a new one using a form.
I did my own nails when I was bank teller because acrylic nails were not in my budget.
My nails were SO unhealthy after doing the nails...they got thin and soft and hurt so bad.
I can't think of any professional industry wheres it's nessesary to have your nails done at at a salon. Unless your an actress or something like that.
200K, and only 15K in savings? Girl math.
Your nails are brittle because you ruined them with chemicals
I’m one of those do my own nails cut my own hair kind of girls…
I’m fortunate enough that my wife is allergic to getting her nails done and she just purchases glue on lol
Fortunately, my Grandma learned how to do nails in the 1960’s and she taught me how to do my nails. Even when she worked for the post office, she still had fabulous nails. When money was tight, she taught my Grandpa how to dye her hair with home kits. I budget getting my toe nails done and try to maintain them as long as I can.
My wife and I take turns. She gets to get her hair dyed waxed and nails and then every few months she skips so I can get a haircut/beard groomed from a professional.
Here's a tip if you want to cut your salon trip cost. Go to your local tech schools that are doing the cosmetology. Sometimes even the colleges have them. You can call the school and ask for the cosmetology department and be able to make an appointment. I only paid for the supplies when I got my hair dyed. And I think the haircut was $5. They are dirt cheap and it helps them to learn! Yeah are they an experienced sure but they're learning! Some of them are really good at what they're doing though!! Please help support your local high school and colleges!
Wow
