Both men and women are drawn towards intimate relationships, which means that both can be subject to temptations to lust and commit sexual sin. But unfortunately, it’s been seen mostly as a men’s issue, leaving women who do struggle to do so alone. This isolation often only makes the temptations worse, and the devil loves to feed us all kinds of lies, telling us we’ll never be free.

Thanks a lot for having this conversation. I'm a young woman recovering from pornography and masturbation addiction. I was in denial for so long, even though I got into it since I was thirteen, and I even promoted masturbation as a way of self-"love" and knowing myself, I didn't think it was a problem until I tried to stop.Thanks God I realized how wrong I was! And thanks to the Holy Catholic church I've been keeping away from that, but it's hard. I've been clean for almost three months now. I pray for all of us fighting with this sin

I have been there and thanks the love of Jesus I was freed. I was married out the Church and wasn't able to receive communion for years, so I did a Cursillo retreat and started to learn more about my Catholic faith and pray more, then my marriage started to go downhill and when I was able to receive communion again and have Christ in me I left all behind. I have been single since 2016 and never have done that again to myself. It's a struggle because even your dreams can come in the way, but I got all my strength from the way I have live my life and how the Lord has purify me all this years!
Be strong, get to pray more, read more good Catholic books, go to confession, pray the Rosary, Our Mother is on your side too. Train your mind, purify your soul and your body. There is nothing impossible for God and you can do it with him by your side.

I wanted to share a few tips that I have adopted in my own battle in the hope of helping others:
1. Notice how you feel when temptation hits: For me, temptation hits the hardest when I am tired and feeling sluggish (and therefore, least likely to fight against Satan’s attempts to lure me into sin). Addicts often use the acronym H.A.L.T., which stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, and Tired. When you are hungry, angry, lonely, or tired is when temptation is the most difficult to resist. If you find yourself in one of these categories, take action immediately-have a healthy snack, pray, call a friend, take a nap (use with caution), etc.
2. Mortification/self control: This is the art of leashing your temptations so that YOU control them, not the other way around. Mari mentioned controlling your appetite, but consider other methods of practicing self control, such as taking lukewarm showers, not hitting the snooze button, or saying a Rosary when you really want to watch the next episode.
3. Verbal refusal: This is one I discovered on my own and that Mari touched on. Confession is the most important verbalizing, but also try it by yourself. If you are tempted to sexual sin, say out loud, “I will not watch porn.” or, “I will not masturbate because my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” Say these words with conviction. I am always shocked at how quickly the temptation dissipates. I’ve even directed the words, “Leave me alone” at Satan.
4. Set yourself up for success: Arm yourself with the tools God has made available for you. Find books on purity (I’m reading 40 Days to Freedom: Winning the Battle for Sexual Purity by Dann Aungst). Track your menstrual cycle to determine when you are most tempted and plan outings on those days. Plan on going to confession every week or every other week (do you really want to confess masturbation again?).
5. Find your temptation outlets and destroy them. Scrolling on Instagram when temptation hits? Turn off your phone immediately. Know which authors include smut in their books? Don’t even check them out at the library with the intention of skipping over the sex scenes. Cute guy in your class that you can’t stop fantasizing about? Sit at the front of the class so you can’t see him.
This is a battle for your purity and your soul. Put up a good fight.

@Chertsey Nermal just keep yourself busy… any downtime you have you should pray, read religious books or watch Catholic RUclips videos…… after some time passes it doesn’t even become an option
@Chertsey Nermal God will forgive a sincere confession and then you have to forgive yourself (easier said than done)! It’s a great skill to recognize the thoughts and events leading up to sin. I would recommend having a game plan in place if you start to feel tempted again (for me, cold showers and getting out the house works wonders). Thanks for sharing such a difficult moment and resolving to try again!
I just loved holding hands with girls. Sex drove me crazy too, but I am still glad I had those experiences. Even with the consequences and all the confusion I've had to live through, if I had it to do over again, I would. I pray about my sins too, but I would do it again.
Fasting and prayer are amazing medications for a wide variety of ailments.

I am so grateful women are banding together & speaking these struggles out loud! I was 18 when I first told someone about this outside the confessional & at that point had been shouldering it alone for 11 years. I’m now 23 & have been free from sexual sin for 290 days! Just like Mari said, we need accountability, the sacraments, continual conversation with & dependence on Jesus, & sooooo much grace for ourselves. Freedom IS possible! I’m praying for all who watch this video!

I really needed this. I am 18 and ever since I was little I was introduced to sexual sin from a family member,cousins I never understood where it streamed from until now. Until I was able to fully understand why I feel the need to. I do struggle whith masturbating I used to deny it so much. Because it wasn’t a one time a month thing it’s more of a once every two-3 months thing but I have high since it still makes me feel a strong guilt. I am making a change today ,spending more time in prayer and freely admitting to God yea is it something i struggle with and also want to stop.

@@IONov990 vanity is appreciation of God's gift of talent or beauty, nothing wrong with that, but the distortion of God's gift of beauty and talent is when we got carry away and become proud...hence the sin of pride.
Laziness? No, even God rest on the seventh day, after he created everything. Laziness is the distortion of reasonable rest allowed, it is a sin when we are not being productive...I hope I am being clear enough.

When I was very young, I was so myopic. Yet, it was all around me. Women paying for what they did not deserve to pay for. How was the woman to realize? I am opposed to the curse, and I'd give women eternal youth and life if I had that power. I know you will get it spiritually, but I'd also make this place right too! Don’t think this is unique and be overwhelmed with shame…. Priests are celibate and have dealt with temptation. When I was in the Marines, my Chaplain (Fr Devine) was a Catholic priest and he said this was his top advised sin. Military life is strife with temptation and loneliness. Pick up books about it if you don’t want to ask for tips but remember.. the clergy are their to help you go to heaven , use them

It's tough to abstain, but we need to try and get up from it everytime. For me I loved taking the Eucharist daily so I held myself accountable to not sexually sin. It was able to help me alot, I still fall here and there but i do not give into it as often.

It makes you too tired so you sleep but I get the urge at random times like you. Eventually I fall but try to fight it before you fall. Cold showers help too

Being single into your 30s as a woman is a curse. Having unmet s*xual urges every day is killing me. When i try to fast i get so weak. I cant eat 1 meal with out having s*xual urges. Living in frustration like this is ruining my life. I should have been married a long time ago. Not being married is making me feel su*cidal because im being denied what i need every day, and i have to starve my self to sickness to make it stop.
Try to increase physical activity, try to volunteer more, or hang out with friends more, or work more OT. Just keep yourself busy. Keep praying and fasting. Be patient and keep on the path.

I've always struggled with this. I'm glad to know I'm not alone and I have the answers now. In Christianity even asking preachers and stuff, I've been told by them yes that masturbation is healthy and allowed as long as it is not an addiction. I ask God to give me the strength to drop this urge and live the way he wants me to. I want to be free from it. Amen.

We, even though some of us are saved and delivered, we STILL have to deal with attacks on the flesh,mind, and heart. We have to keep praying. Just think, the more you delay Gratification, the better and more fulfilling your sex life will be when you have a real spouse sent by God. Way more fulfilling than anything our hand alone can do or make us feel. With God's help fighting temptation and knowing that one day on his time he will give me someone who I can share this with keeps me going.

God cares about purity of heart most certainly, so there is sin when that along with self-control in one's thoughts and actions are lacking (Matthew 5:8, James 4:8, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27). It will help to pray right when you are being tempted and believe that God will deliver you from the temptation.

Basically these things are demonic, it is not just a habit or an addiction. The demons whisper to you at specific times and they will get you do what you would not actually want to do. As people get to know God, it is advisable they stay "under the water" by this i mean that the word of God is like a tap of running water, and as long as you stay under you will be cleansed. As you hear the word you need to obey the word of God, the strategy needed to win is obedience.
