It's hilarious, but I'm not totally sold on Miss Box's unawareness of with whom she's dealing with I must say. LOL... but still.. I love it.

A little tip that i use for myself while trading.
The sector bookmarks are buggy when you arent in that sector. So, i prefer to place bookmarks in planet (in the star map) and bookmarks in stars (in galaxy map) too. Beware of the size limit in that bookmarks (i think its like 15 characteres), so i prefer to use acronyms for things, like Arriake Technology, i use like AR. So if you see Arriake Technology and Orbital Research in same place, you will have AR,OR in that place saved in you bookmarks.

Edit: 44:04 You are not being dumb, at least, not any more than usual 😆 The waypoint system is quite flawed and the registry system is so useless that it may as well not exist. However, for the issues you are having at the moment, you can work around them going forward by placing waypoints on the galaxy map for any stars that you've placed waypoints on the planets or orbits of. You can just right click the star in the galaxy map like you would on the planet map and place a waypoint that will show up when you view the galaxy map, there's even a nice list you can use. Of note, you can also waypoint entire planet+orbits from the system map so you end up with a layered waypoint map where the galaxy waypoint says "Traders here" then the system waypoints say "Food on this planet" "Ore shipments in this asteroid field" then when you arrive in those playfields, the waypoints you've been using up to this point will show up and guide you to the exact location of the trading POI.
The heavy railgun turret has quite a lot of penetration, and almost double the DPS than a standard missile for the same CPU, so it can occasionally take out key components of lighter ships in a single hit. If you've got the CPU to put 4 of them, you'll be able to cripple anything smaller than a Zirax destroyer with little difficulty.
If you're lacking for CPU, you could switch out the EMP cruise missiles for Gamma lasers (you can replace 1 cruise missile with 3 gamma lasers so going 1 to 1 will free up 50k CPU each). The lasers do almost double the shield DPS of the missiles, but at half range so you'll want your shield to be a bit more beefy before trying that.
I think you click that little arrow thing to the right and it shows "galaxy-wide waypoints". I was recently confused by this as well, the teleporters have the same filter.
I hope you get the Waypoint problem sorted, identified and solved ! All i ever did was trader playthroughs in Reforged Eden and i can relate very much how disheartening the loss of my WP's would have been.
Although i also kept a record in a spreadsheet with prices for different types of POI factories (including the special mission you can get from each type). So after a while you do not really need to know what will be there when you go somewhere, because you can deal with literally anything you randomly come across.
as far as looking for platinum, i gave up looking for the planet types that have it, i found asteroids in purple asteroid fields. the legacy there may or may not come after you, but its still doable, just keep them on the other side of the roid. and youll get thousands of plat
platinum is also found in BH systems :)

No you're not stoopid - the game is. To use the registry you have to choose what you wanna see (Waypoints for you atm) select it and then tab to map or something and then tab back in again. Then the registry updates itself. I know, i know...take a deep breath and just let it out...say it with me: ELEON!!! PLEASE FIX!!!

That waypoint deal is really really stupid. Why some nitwit thought it was a cheaty to be able to see your waypoint list everywhere in game beats me. Someone needs to make a mod that address the ESG registry system. They should have a system that can turn off and on entire categories from showing up on the galaxy map. You would be able to make routes or reference specific POI types to show up on the hud. [Let's go to the decay gate, or where are all the close trade stations. That sort of thing.] Just turn it on or off a group from a hud within the registry menu. Something like that.
I like the light rail do to them sharing ammo with the TX Exp. rail gun.

You do not have to. Just set it to Local view. If your in the sector or Galaxy map I leave them both unchecked, just on Planets where I set it to Local view. Or Space Stations as well. @@Spanj

Question: When you changed your name back to Spanj to test your markers, wouldn't people in SAS see the name change from Gerold to Spanj as well? This is a speadsheet game afterall, so a player's uniqueID would not change, only your display name.
Yes they would but it needed testing and was very quiet on the server when I was recording that
Find your paypoint, then go to the registry and click that "Show on HUD Galaxy wide" button to turn each way point off, then on again. When you created the waypoint, it looked like you clicked the "Local" way point selection instead of Global
The mining hubs spanj sell small amounts of gold/platinum. Alloy Sythesis factories sell the most.
Spanj, got a damn fine ship I retrofitted a few years ago, haven't used in three years but I wondered if you'd consider refitting it yourself to use as one of the other ships Ms Marple said you could use (role-play and everything), it would be nice to see you use somebody else's ship? She's a beauty, a lover and a FIGHTER!

I could never trust myself with a capital ship that had all the container extensions on the outside - shielded or not, I know what happens when a Tianlong surprises you - even in a hardened battlecruiser with dual shields.

To check your saved waypoints press M then on the top right select the second box in with the pin icon thats where they will be if they were saved. 🙂

Spanj, i use LCDs in my main base to know what systems i have important waypoints. Its a little frustrating, but it work
May I donate some knowledge to you and hopefully relieve some of your frustration?
You can waypoint whole stars in the galaxy map and planets/asteroids in the system map, just like you would the planet map. There is even a list of all galaxy waypoints in a tab of the info panel on the map screen so if you have a bunch you don't have to go scrolling through the map to find what you want, you can just click on it in the list and your view will jump to that star. You just have to tick the little box in the top left where you can view factions and star types etc. You end up with a layered waypoint system where the galaxy map says "Here be important things" Then when you arrive at that star, the system maps can tell you "This planet is where those important things are" then the planet or sector map guides you to the exact location of the thing you want.

early game for plat i just buy it from Polaris alloy synthesis facility, after that combat salvage heavy turrets also gives plat plates.

This was a great episode! Well except for the waypoint issue which may be not available outside of systems could it be that it was a memory issues for some or the game overall?

Spanj, I gotta ask. How many hours do you put in to then edit and post these videos? It just seems your progression is so much faster. Good work on the Ms. Box exchange. And am I being foolish trying to build my CV using just the loot from POI's instead of mining? It'll take quite some time. Especially the Erestrum and Zas.
Depends on what stage of the game you are. If you are building your starter CV, then getting the Neo, any Zasc, Erestrum and Sathium as well as iron and titanium from POIs is perfectly reasonable. It's what I tend to do actually and unless you build a warp SV, it's the only way you can get those rarer resources since you can't mine them on any of the starters. You'll probably want to mine/deforest for copper, silicon and carbon though since POIs don't usually contain a lot of functional devices which will yield those resources and you'll need quite a lot for even basic CV.
If you're in the mid or later game, you'll absolutely want to mine, larger ships require tens if not hundreds of thousands of most resources and POIs will only net you at most a few thousand of any particular resource aside from iron or titanium so you'll be working away at that for the rest of your life if you go that route. You can either go the automining route which is slower, but runs continuously so you just need to pick up the resources and refuel the miners every few days; or you can get yourself a mining CV and go to town on any asteroids you see. A good miner will be able to extract all the ore from an asteroid in less than 5 minutes, so find a few system with the asteroids that you need, you'll have enough for your ship pretty quickly.
@@resurgam_b7 Thanks. I am pretty early in the game. Have a warp SV with laser miners, but just thought it'd be an extra challenge to go the POI route. I've been realizing that I won't get it all in this system. Might have to get a cheap starter CV to get to another system with those rare items (Volos?). Though I hate the thought of tearing it all apart when I'm done with it. I do miss the combat steel engine compartments in vanilla, lol.
@@MrRichalu Yeah, if you've got a warp SV and laser drills, mining would definitely be the faster route, but for a small CV, POI looting will certainly work, so if you want the challenge, I say go for it!
I wouldn't recommend building a full capability cruiser in the starter system, while you almost certainly could find or mine all the resources needed, doing so would be rather of inconsiderate to all the other people starting out in the same system, who need those resources and want to run those POIs as well and are all also trying to build their own ships so they can get out of the system too.
Building a smaller ship and going to your own system where there aren't multiple players all competing for the same resources is definitely the preferred option. When you gather the resources for a larger ship, you don't have to dismantle the old one. It can be useful to have an extra CV hanging about in case something unfortunate happens to your main one; alternatively, you could sell it to the SAS for some extra cash; or even donate it to a starting player who's having trouble getting their own. In the end, if you do decide to dismantle it, a CV tool-turret will make quick work of any salvage operation, so it won't be too much of a pain to dispose of a small ship.
