- The foundation of a successful Diorama is dependent upon composition and balance. Trees can dictate the balance of a scene because they dominate the footprint.

Composition is the catalyst that supports the story. It helps to direct the viewers eye in a natural way. The additional details and supporting subjects are there to reinforce the narrative. With this in view, the goal of a successful diorama is to evoke an emotional response, while telling a short story that is simple and to the point.

Once again a gift of magic on Saturday! Thank you Boomer for sharing.
😁👍
Great video, you make it look easy. All you need are a few simple tools and mediums. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thank you. As one gets older they use less and less . . .😉
Snipping the dowel to create old logs and forest floor material is truly inspiring Boomer, I will be most definately 'borrowing' that technique, of which you will get full credit, lol. Another excellent and incisive tutorial. Thanks for sharing. All the best. Brian @ The Angels
I like the method because I can model it the way I want the piece to look with branches as well.😁
Just loving it... 56 years old and being taught art that I can understand and can relate to, didn't make much sense in school all those years ago 🤣🤣
Cool! Thanks for sharing as well! Cheers ~ Boomer.😁
I am so inspired by your art. Your modeling and creativity are literally spellbinding and every video is a jewel to be savored. Your philosophical approach to your three dimensional art yields one masterclass after another that can only inspire us viewers to advance our own modeling. I love the music you employ to enhance your video production. Thank you.
Your complimentary eloquence inspires me as well! Thank you for taking the time to encourage me. God Bless you. ~ Boomer.😁
What a wonderful presentation, but your giving away so many secrets! Question, if I wanted to make an old growth tree, something like your card tube tree but want to have a broken off top, how would you model that?
Revealing secrets makes the world a better place. 😉I would use a chunk of insulation foam, stuff it in the hole, hack it up, and then paint it with acrylic texture, then color. You could also use balsa wood as well.😁
It's a really cool tutorial.
😁
Thank you, it is great seeing how to do some of the things I have tried to accomplish over 15 years. I had the materials but couldn't quite get the results I wanted. Not many people using the material and concepts to talk too. I get a warm feeling mutual understanding watching your videos. Again, thank you for sharing your skills. Cheers
Thanks Bill!😁
Beautiful trees dear Boomer!
Thank you!
Thx Boomer - I am starting my tree building project this weekend so going over all of your tree making tutorials.
Have fun!
Thank you for the sweet dream, it's already late on this side of the pond. Cheers
Cheers!

Sublime way to relax, So grateful Boomer. Cheer's John
The hobby is awesome for sure! I never grow tired of it.😁
Another amazing video. Boomer the model tree whisperer.
Lol . . . 😁
I am in awe of your work. I hope to be a fraction as good as you are one day. Than you!
Be inspired and make lot's of mistakes and you achieve success.
love cozy shack also, great modelling
Thank you! Cheers ~ Boomer. 😁
That was delightful and so much information. I will need to watch it a few times to absorb most of it. Rob
Cheers!
Gorgeous, informative, and instructional. That Maple is amazing...
It actually turned out smaller than the real thing!
Awesome.
Thank you!😁
Your trees look great. Well done.
Thank you.
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you Robert! Cheers ~ Boomer.
I just love watching and listening to you work Boomer. You're like the Bob Ross of model making! (That's a compliment, by the way.) When you were painting the old growth tree at the end, you were using a mix of oil paints. Were you using water or mineral spirits to "wash" it?
Mineral spirits. I only apply oil washes at the end over acrylics, never the other way around.
Absolutely great work and ideas. That’s for showing and sharing all these great tips. I love this video. Thanks!
😁
My old boss would look at the competition's shop&if it was clean/tidey. He deemed it wasn't busy. Either buy it out or take a run on their customers&bankrupt it. Keep your bench messy😂
Organized Chaos . . . ;-)
Oh this was an excellent video, so much great content. Now I want to do deadfalls from dowels, but I just started scratch building some boat lifts! Remind me how you got the ropes to hang properly on the barge slip - did you just paint with matte medium, and apply some tension? Thanks so much for all you give - Bill. 🎋
Paint with matte medium and hang weights on them with clips of choice.
@@boomerdiorama thanks man!
I live in BC as well - where do you get your supplies such as the matte medium, and molding paste? I have checked Amazon, but it seems pricey.....
I get mine at Opus Art Supply in Langley, B.C. I buy big jugs for 50.00. It lasts a long time especially when you thin it down for ground scenery.
love it as aways , I would love to hear how you start the vision do you sketch it out or what? it would make a good video some time. keep the faith God is Good.
I do sketch sometimes, but they are nothing fancy. I break down the build into components and put it together over exhaustive trials and rehearsals until it clicks. ;-)
Would Artist’s loft modeling paste work as a good replacement for the fiber paste? Having a bit of trouble finding a place that sells the fiber paste close to me.
Try some and see. 😁
He Mister Boomer, here from the Netherlands, amazing that trees! I love your work. You talk about CA, a kind of glue, but what is it?
Thank you. "CA" is the acronym for (Cyanoacrylate), otherwise known as "Crazy Glue" or "Super Glue."
Hey boomer! I’m a milder in HO scale and wondering where you get your locomotives and what brand of locomotives do you use? Thank you!
I run mostly Atlas locomotives with Kato drives and ESU Loksound V5 Decoders.
Boomer.. once again
👍!
Cheers
Bob from Ontario
Hey Bob . . . thanks ~ Boomer.😁
Boomer, does fiber paste work better when coating dowel roads if it has a little bit of water mixed with it. It is thick and difficult to get it to coat the rod.
Sure. Try adding some water. It takes a little getting used to but after some practice it begins to go well. I stab a blob onto the piece ant then start working it with a wet brush. Try and keep the brush wet if you can with a standing jar of water.
Dear Boomer, we want to collaborate with you! Please reach out 😊
Cheers.
@@boomerdiorama Please let us know where can we send the details. Thank you!
@@Angie.Ninesteps Details for what?
Boomer. What is Sow Clay?
You mean "Cell-Clay" Cell clay is commercial paper mache under other names like sculpt-a-mold, etc. It's water based paper mache you can get at Michaels Craft store under Activa.
