CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jiff (Eddie Murphy) is painfully terrified when Bowfinger (Steve Martin) makes him run across a freeway full of fast moving cars.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A group of wanna-be filmmakers and actors concocts a scheme to make a movie with a major star without having to pay him in this comedy. Bobby Bowfinger (Steve Martin) has struggled for years to make it in Hollywood with no real success; he's convinced that he has to make his big break soon or it will be too late. Bobby has a script, and he has a cast, including an ingenue straight off the bus from Ohio (Heather Graham), a one-time regional stage star who fondly recalls her brief moment of glory (Christine Baranski), and a hunky aspiring matinee idol (Kohl Sudduth). He also has a young associate named Dave (Jamie Kennedy), who has a low-level job at a movie studio as a gofer -- which means that he has keys to every part of the lot and can "borrow" whatever they need. All they need is a star, but without any money, how do they get one? Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy) is a leading action star, and he is obviously beyond Bowfinger's budget. But Bobby has an idea: what if he tricked Kit into appearing in the film without his knowing it? Steve Martin also wrote the film's screenplay, and former Muppets performer Frank Oz directs.

It's been said by both Arsenio Hall and Eddie Murphy that Jiff is the only character he's ever played that is actually close to his actual personality lol.
Eddie should've been nominated for an Oscar for this movie. He is brilliant
One of the greatest memories I had with my late father was watching this scene together and the two of us just laughing to the point where tears were coming out of our eyes and we were falling off the couch, I must have rewinded the scene 10 times and my dad and I just couldn't stop laughing, thank you Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, and company!!!
This is the one scene of any movie that will make me laugh uncontrollably!! The whole thing is genius!!!
What a great memory! Thanks for sharing.
My best friend and I were very similar with this. I never got around to watching the film when it came out, but my friend insisted on me watching it with him around eight years later. We did the exact same thing when this scene came on! Just kept rewinding this scene over and over and laughing so hard each time.
Wow, I came to this video because same: my dad, who passed away this year, literally fell off the couch from laughing so hard. I vividly remember my dad using the coffee table to help himself to his knees, tears in his eyes, laughing so hard. Such a positive and fun memory. It's wonderful that another person cherishes this scene for nearly the exact same reason.
X
I love this movie. The great outdoors is another movie that reduced me to tears laughing at the end of it.
RIP. He had great taste
The stunt drivers were really impressed 🤣
Ahhhhh. There Stunt drivers. I was wondering how they did That. Lol...
A joke that many people miss for some reason, is that during the whole movie, we never see Bowfinger shoot a scene twice. Except the one scene, that might get one of his actors killed.
Cj Holden So this basically a modern version of Ed Wood?
Văn-Hiếu Võ true lol that’s why he got a stunt double.
Had to do over because in the scene, he has to run into the arms of his beloved, and that detail somehow slipped Jiff’s mind, while crossing the highway, and as he made it to the other side.
Oh gods, you're right....🤣🤣🤣🤣
The studio (Universal) tried to cut this scene because of how expensive it was to film it. Steve Martin refused to let them and thought it was one of the best scenes in the movie.
What's so expensive in letting Eddie Murphy run across a busy freeway? You mean they actually did use stunt drivers?
Only Eddie Murphy could run across the street and make it hilarious 😂
6a
jim carrey could probably.
Superb acting.
The way Eddie can make himself the big macho Kit Ramsey, but also the thin weedy Jiff.
I just saw Bowfinger for the 1st time last night on HBO and my sides are still hurting from laughing. How did I miss this Comic Gem back in 1999. Steve and Eddie are perfect together and Christine Baranski as the "over the top" actress is also hilarious. Heather Graham is always a beautiful plus to any movie. This Crossing the Freeway scene had me literally rolling on the floor with laughter. I suggest taking a "puff" of something tasty and watching this movie.
"Heavenly God, heavenly God..!!!"😂😂
Only true Eddie Murphy fans know that classic line!
Jeunelle Robinson 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Classic. Classic Scene. Eddie Murphy playing the Slow Nerd.
I watch it by myself. Overwhelming Laughter and Joyful Crying. 😆
Stuntdrivers...... OMG. Bust a gut. Everytime........
Never gets old 🤣
Brilliant writing, great performances, and one of the last times Eddie Murphy was truly willing to be hammy and over the top in a role. It worked SO DAMN WELL here. Eternally underrated comedy.
Professional stunt drivers LMAO!!!
Think of like an errand your errand is to run across the freeway til I yell cut 😂😂😂
"they're going really fast"
The fact that he does it one more time kills me. HAHAHAHA!
The 1st time I saw this, when it came out, I thought my stomach was going to split open. Never cry laughed in a scene harder in my life. "I don't want to do this anymore!"
"okay, but first let's do this one more time"
Funniest scene ever, I agree
I can relate...
Hardest I've ever laughed in a movie theater ever!
I think my internal organs may have shifted from my intense laughter.
I believe you 😂
You too......
How did he get across the street so he could do the scene?
When I saw this at the movie theater I couldn’t stop laughing especially when Murphy was crying.
Just watched this movie with my cousin and my dad for the first time, we were in absolute stitches at this scene comedy gold. Professional Stunt Drivers LOL!!!
Jiff was such a phenomenal character. Murphy was brilliant in this.
I just adore this movie. One of the best clips ever. I thought this was Eddie's and Steve's best combined comedy's. Movie didn't do well at the box office, but this old fart loves it!
Just recently re-watched this, and had forgotten how funny it was. Steve Martin was as solid as ever and Eddie Murphy was pure genius in this. This is the go-to scene for introducing this movie to people who might've missed it. Pure, simple hilarious joy!
Fantastic... such an underated film its pure genius..
I will always remember this movie as "chubby rain"
Rücklicht, what about the one they made after that one? Fake Purse Ninjas 🤣
So do I. I literally had to type "Chubby Rain" in the search because I forgot the name of this movie lol.
I love the 'chubby rain' guy
This and the parking garage scene with Betsys little high heels are genius..the editing is brilliant-
One of best comedy scene ever!!!!!!!!
"Sure, they're going really fast!!!! YEEEESH!" 😆
Eddie Murphy, an actor, acts an actor acting as an actor.
I think this scene was just Eddie Murphy pissing his pants
Reference noted! ;)
THANK YOU MR. MURPHY, AND MARTIN.
Incredible funny scene, I really like the small details like the film crew doing holy cross gesture as re assurance it will go okay. Cannot watch this without laughing:)
I don't think that they are being reassuring. I think they're praying for the soul of a man they're certain is about to end up splattered all over the highway.
My story much the same as yours Michael K...l had never seen or heard or this movie and wasn't paying close attention the first time it was playing on television and then the magic happen with this scene....the room went from a dead silence to hilarious laughter....couldn't catch our breaths .. we were crying ....i think i showed every person who i came in contact with.....Eddie Murphy is so convincing in his character in this scene....loved it... just watched it again after a long time and it still made me laugh as much as the first time......
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how seamless the visual effects are for this sequence? They blended the two shots so beautifully.
Such an underrated movie. Brilliant and original concept and script. One of my favorites.
Heavenly God!
Heavenly God!
Heavenly God!
I love how movies like Chubby Rain use practical effects instead of the CGI used in so many modern movies. Makes it so much more realistic :)
Oh God I love this scene....
"Isn't this dangerous?"
"Wow, they're going really fast!"
And of course, the ending.
"Great, we just need you to do this again."
This is one of his funniest scenes of all time!! Lmfao I die laughing every time. Then it had to be shooting that woman's toe off in Harlem nights lmfao
Harlem nights fight scene is still top 5
My daughter is a nurse. She was telling me how she had witnessed over the years just how healing and therapeutic laughter can be. We decided to make a Top Ten list of comedy movies. "Bowfinger" we both agreed is either at or near the top ... and the freeway scene (or maybe the parking garage scene) is out-of-this-world hilarious. I'm laughing just thinking about it 😅
The rest of your list?
@@ChronoMune It's been a while (15 years to be precise) but I'll do my best: "What's Up Doc?" ... "Soapdish" ... "Send Me No Flowers" ... "Silent Movie"(Mel Brooks) ... "All Of Me" ... Eddie Murphy a blessed actor. one of the funniest to ever do it.
I rewatched this gem of a movie the other day, as it’s always been one of my favourites. I noticed a small detail about Eddie’s performance as Jif: he holds his face different to Kit throughout. A slight scrunch :) it’s such a subtle thing but it makes him look completely different to Kit. In the outtakes of the scene where they’re all having lunch and discussing the movie (where Jif reveals he’s Kit’s brother) the camera is on Eddie before it’s rolling, and he’s sat with his normal face on. I was like, why’s Kit in this scene? Lol
This is one of his best performances, and it’s criminal that he didn’t get any major recognition for it.
He said "heavenly father, heavenly God". Rollinnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
I piss my sides every time I watch this clip!
Must be warm down there.. 😂
Eddie is so excellent in this film!
This is for me the single most hilarious bit on any movie! My favorite comedy movie, gotta love the whole satire!
Tears running down my face watching this
And he has to do it again.. 😂
I never realized before just how much of a troll face Steve puts on at 1:05 lol
My husband who never reacts to anything EVER laughed uncontrollably and showed his true self
I saw this at the movies and I laughed so hard I thought I'd pass out from lack of air. I'm still laughing
watching this for the 100th time ....still crying ...hilarious 😂😂😂😂
It's still so funny that I have pippi in my eyes 😂
Amazing movie and I watched it completely on accident.
This is such a funny movie. Sadly one of the last ones where Eddy Murphy was actally funny.
Steve Martin too!
THE last one for both Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin, although Steve Martin is still funny outside of movies.
I disagree, Showtime, Pluto Nash, I Spy, Daddy Day Care, Imagine That and NORBIT, were great movies too
@@sapientiaeclavis9244 Oh and that "Tree" one, where every time he speaks... a leave falls off.😂
@@sapientiaeclavis9244 daddy day care my all time fav
Never laughed harder in a movie theater than with this scene right here. My whole family was in tears.😂😂😂😂😂
Sums up my life. I just wanna do errands.
This scene is so funny 😂 it's probably the funniest scene in the movie
"Heavenly God, Heavenly God!!" ridiculously funny movie
I love how Jamie Kennedy is SO dumbstruck by what Jiff just did that he can't even respond to Steve Martin. Honestly insane how well Murphy disappears into this character with little to no make-up... TALENT!
I first saw this scene when I was eating in a pizza place and they had the movie on their big screen TV. I didn't know what movie this was! I had to describe the scene to some of the young people at work the next day to find out that it was "Bowfinger."
That blonde girl is okay looking, but I wouldn't run across an L.A.-area freeway at rush hour for friggin' Miss America!
Truly Underated Flick!
Each contract when I hear that someone has not watched this one, we watch it all over again on the vessel. At the end everyone will be in splits.
Especially this scene is Utterly Hilarious😂🤣
Steve and Eddie together, pure genius!
“Okay, but first, let’s do this one more time.” 😂😂
The best comedy scene ever!!!!!!! Nothing close. Perfection.
I remember watching this with my brothers as a kid, and when it came to this part of the movie for some reason I felt sorry for him running across the highway like that but again it was funny
the funniest scene in the whole movie .... i love how they are using him badly XD
i always loved Eddie Murphy he is the best
I laugh away my senses every time I watch this 🤣😂💀
I almost passed out from laughing so hard when I saw this in the theater.
This is one of the funniest movies ever!
One of the funniest scenes from this classic comedy. 1:18 2:28 2:37 2:42 and 3:06 LOL
Good stuff. Used to get stoned and watch this on VHS as a teen
I don't laugh at comedies, but this movie. Omg it made me die.
This scene has me laughing so hard, that my eyes water. Hilarious scene.
Hilarious 😂😂😂 This scene is legendary 😂😂😂
Bowfinger Movie CLIP - Crossing the Freeway (1999) - Eddie

I WAS CROSSING THROUGH 🏰 CASTLE ROCK FORK FROM SORINGS TO HERE DENVER
THESE PEOPLE ARE STILL DOING THIS TO ME!
A really underrated movie
I PRAYED OUT LOUD AND LIT SMALL 🔥 FIRES DOWN THE STRETCH OF HIGHWAY PRAYING!
Funny movie ! Love Eddie Murphy, Heather Graham & Steve Martin in it.
It's the 'Heavenly Father, Heavenly Father!' while crying that gets me every time :)
He smiles so so sweetly
Eddie did his own stunts 😂
You think Eddie was in his prime in 1999!? You need to learn yourself on some 80s Eddie!
This was my favorite movie as a kid. Back when Eddie Murphy was funny. I laughed for the rest of day at this scene.
one of my favorite movies, I can't stop laughing 😂
Literally one of the funniest scenes in cinematic history. 😂
This scene is like when your car spawns on the other side of the freeway in GTA Online.
Thank God the cameraman and sounds guys prayed for him.🙏☕️
Maneeeeee I never get tired of these lmao 🤣 it’s literally the funniest scenes ever hahahaha
This scene never failed me 🤣
My stomach was burning the whole movie after this scene!😂😂😂😂
Jiff is basically Norbit without the Afro 😂
This scene makes me cry laughing. 😂😂😭
I WAS WALKING FROM COLORADO SPRINGS TO DENVER AND NEARLY DIED THREE TIMES .
Most Iconic scene in the movie
I don't blame him i would run errands too after doing that.
2:15 Always gets me! :)
