    I'm about to turn 18 and am about to get one of these. People are like oh why are you getting a 4 cylinder and why didn't you get a v8 and blah blah blah... well I've grew up on ole Chevy 305s and this car feels like an old tuned port v8 and it's a fricking 4 banger.. plus finding a brand new car nowadays with a stickshift is getting rare sadly.. and shifting in this car feels great with that turbo... if you get an upgraded intake the turbo blow off sounds amazing! plus it's perfect for a sleeper, it won't be long before aftermarket company's make parts for this to make it give an ss a good run for its money.. another thing too the gas mileage is ridiculously great! for a Camaro!! plus being 18, going to college and work and back everyday puts some miles on it and having good gas mileage means more money for upgrades haha. Another thing too is for a 18 year old getting a brand new Camaro straight out of high school is pretty impressive, 4 banger or whatever. And alot of my friends drive 4th gen firebirds with 5.7s and they love this car. it puts a smile on their face and they drive v8s. one didn't even believe me that it was a 4 cylinder lol

    This is a proper high reving 4cyl turbo it screams to 7k rpm's, with a downpipe and tune it will get good bottomend. As opposed to the Mustang Ecoboost which is a typical tractor style motor like a diesel with a tiny turbo, all it makes is torque and its breathless up top, this is the new generation LNF engine out of the Colbalt SS and Pontiac Solstice, this is the LGT its a outstanding motor they are dynoing 260 whp bone stock....and this version of the Camaro has 50/50 weight distribution its gonna be a track/autocross monster, a tune Dp, and intake is getting people to 300 whp without bumping up the boost, this is the best 4 cylinder platform out there, and that Colbalt SS was the fastest FWD car on the Nurgurg ring for over 5 years......

      The turbo camaro is amazing, I have had one for about a month now and I love it. Did I want an SS? Yes but I live in California where traffic is terrible and commute over 80 miles a day. It wasn’t practical in a state where gas is almost 4 dollars a gallon. You get used to the visibility and the 4 banger pulls great. It’s just as quick as the V6 until you get to the top end of things. The V6 will slightly pull away when stock for stock but, with a simple tune the 4banger will outperform the V6. The turbo is big so you just wait “one Mississippi” and hang on because she will pull hard

      +LS1OfAKind I love it because its not a V8. I have nothing against V8s I love them too but I hate all of the "put a V8 in it" or "its garbage if it doesn't have a V8". Yes if you want a street strip car then buy the V8 but if not it doesn't need the fucking V8. Any thing with 250+hp is more than enough for fun on the street unless if weighs 4,500+lbs, but at 4,500+lbs why are you trying to have fun in it on the street. 4,500+lbs is either a truck or a luxury car.

    • @lsh19930713
      @lsh19930713 8 лет назад

      +Danny Hampton v8 is not for everyone. It needs skills and consumes extra gas. Not only for more money to spend on gas, it is ridiculous to visit gas station so frequently. For me, I don't really care 300hp or 400hp. It is enough for me and I also just need a nice looking dd car. So I will definitely choose a turbo car. Mustang ecoboost or I4 camaro

    • @ChrisZukowski88

    Man i wish I would have waited for these to hit dealers instead of buying a used 2013 Mustang GT manual 4 months ago. Don't get me wrong, I love having the GT and a V8 but I daily drive it and I have to fill up about every 4 days which is usually $30-$35. I still get to drive one of these though because my dad just picked up a bright yellow 2016 2.0L turbo manual Camaro last week. We have put over 100 miles on it and have only used 1/4 of a tank of gas. Also, that thing runs with my buddy's 2017 WRX performance wise. It actually feels like it pulls a little harder because the WRX's power delivery is so smooth.

    As much as I tried to love the 4Cyl, I just can't get into it, I have driven 2 now. Its a bargain for sure with all the standard features you get, but really driving is more than a plethora of features, its about the feeling. The transmission is clunky, and it feels like you always have to drop a gear, hammer the thing and wait for it to come alive. I would have preferred they went the route the Mustang did with power down low, falling off up top, since most daily driving you're not trying to ring every drop of power out of something unless its a 4Cyl Honda.

Personally I love the spooling feeling when the boost comes on at a higher rpm.The last turbo car I drove was an 85' 300zx single turbo: it would hit full boost at 3k and I loved every second of that turbo lag knowing when boost hit it was pure joy. A little bit of boost lag is good for me.

    what you said about the steering in touring mode is precisely why I love my gt. it gives you the option to turn on stuff you want and off what you don't.
    I like using sports mode with normal mode on the steering. to me that's when the car feels the most natural, and awesome.
    you also can play with the traction control but I keep those in normal. The oe computer still let's the tail hang out and let's the car break traction and when that rear diff starts kicking your ass. GOD I LOVE THESE CARS

    The mustang, camaro and challenger are pony cars. Back in the day when these were introduced. they had low powered 6 cylinders as a base engine. I'm glad to see a good running inline 4 in these. They run a lot better than fox body 4 cylinders and the 3.4 Chevy's.

    VS ringing out the engine as much as possible, I like to tool around at under 2000rpm. It's a great way to find out how liveable it'll be as a daily driver, especially if you live in a big city. Also, if the car has enough low end torque to pull comfortability, consumption tends to be much better then posted rate.

    All this nonsense about visibility on the Camaro is crazy. I just bought a 2017 Camaro convertible (2.0 turbo and six speed manual) and I am 5'10" and 300 pounds. Plenty of room and you get used to the visibility thing very quickly. It's a SPORTS CAR! If you want visibility get a Jeep Wrangler and take the doors off.

    almost bought one of these. Ended up getting a wrx tho. These new camaros blow the doors off the 5th gens. Another reason to buy the turbo 4 over the v6 is because that motor in the camaro already has an aftermarket for it so you can already mod the heckler out of these cars if that's what you want to do.

    The 3.6L has no bottom end torque at all either. Disappointing--I thought the turbo would fill the gap. GM has "the flop" where the cams are adjusted for idle, then they have to retime them, and it just feels so weak in a 6 spd manual until you hit 3k RPM. My favorite is the old 2004 SRT Neon--what a blast to drive.

  • @crazyflyboy30
    @crazyflyboy30 8 лет назад

    You are wrong about the torque the V 6 is up high( 284 lb-ft of torque @ 5300 rpm) the 2.0L has more starting at 3000 rpm(295 lb-ft of torque @ 3000-4500 rpm)
    And the $485 brake needs to add (Requires the available RS Package or 20" 5-spoke, low-gloss Black aluminum wheels)this is for the wheels $800 or RS Package $1,950

    • @3star2nr
      @3star2nr 8 лет назад

      +woohunter1 none of that is actually true though. yes the awd is awesome but most owners beat on them so in the higher miles they have serious problems. The rest of the car starts falling appart as well above 100k. as for reliability not really, again not the fault of Subaru but owners really treat them like shit doing mods to "improve" them but really they just trash those cars.
      if we compare bone stock to bone stock the American cars actually age about the same if not better.
      I'm saying all of this as an import guy. The myth of the superior jdm cars is just that just a myth.
      The Americans really stepped their game up after 2010

    when i was on the chevy site, the 4 piston brake package was $2k and the cooling was i think the $500 option. they also had the bigger 6 piston for the 1lt for $3k. for the turbo. both i think need the rs package. maybe the site is wrong since.the price sounds really high but idk. thanks for the review. really interesting about the engine and its torque curve. i prefer having low end though im sure i could have alot of fun around town regardless.

    The cockpit is made for short people. I used to own a 1979 Z28 with an LT1 engine I could fit in it ok, but these new Camaro's forget it. Another problem with the Camaro is you can't see very good when backing up. Just like the older camaro's they have blind spots. Really the only way GM could fix that problem is a totally new design and it wouldn't look as good as the one's now.

    I have a 2013 fusion that has an electronic emergency brake. I really like the electronic e brake. Any time I've had a car with a manual e brake, they get loose, and some times don't actually hold you as well as they should. You don't get that with the electronic one, and when it's on.. it's on - the wheels don't move lol. I also had a 2016 chrysler 200 rental that had an electronic e brake, and being that it was a rental and I was curious as to what would happen if you applied the electronic e brake when you are driving (don't want to do it to the fusion lol dunno why), it's actually a lot of fun to apply if you want/need to while driving. Quickly but gradually slows you down to a stop, also applies the brake lights (at least in a 2016 200).

    I like the Camaro, and visibility when in convoluted areas is of importance. No one really cares if the visibility until an accident occurs, due to visibility. Mustang is just easier to live with daily, even if it's slower in the V8 configuration. Even though currently the acceleration is identical for GT. If we have to talk about smaller displacement engines... Mustang is a better choice.

    3,000 is not nearly halfway through the power band. 1,000-7,000 is not the power band. 3,000 would be the start of the power band. Peak torque is at 3,000rpm and peak horse power is at 5,600rpm so 3,000-5,600 is this engines power band and when it is most efficient. Judging by the 7,000 red line I'm guessing this engine doesn't fall off that bad after passing 5,600.

    around 4:30 you said the higher reved out tuning would be better for longevity rather than the low rpm mustang. in my experience its the other way around. i drive a 93 mitsu gto all the power is up top and due to that the engine develops valve problems and bearing issues... too much pressure for 7000 rpm.
