    You've forgotten the most important part: the demonstration!

      There's another video on the channel with a demo... He should have directed us there.

    I grew up seeing my mother use the food mill so many times. In Italy we use it especially for making tomato sauce. There is not so much to learn, simply put food in the bowl, turn the crank and help with a spoon pushing food under the blade when it sticks to the walls of the bowl. And at the end of your work, don't forget to scrape the underside of the mill disk, there you will find a lot of pulp, crushed, tasty and thick.

    Weird that you didn't demonstrate using the food mill. But the quality of the video + lighting was nice.

      Lol, 'enough explaining let's get milling'... Then goes onto explain more and never mill's. Very odd.

      @@joyellen1290 And viewers are supposed to know this how? Leaving out the demonstration pretty much disqualifies the product for me. It's just marketing fluff at this point.

    We will be using my mom's food mill which she got when we first moved to Canada in 1950. Are there any videos for old mills?

    I just ordered one for making hot sauce this season(sick of pulpy sauce, I want a good dasher) which disc would you recommend using for hot sauce? The small or medium?

    • @TheMasonJarSuite
      @TheMasonJarSuite 3 года назад

      Definitely the smallest! From personal experience, some peppers have smaller seeds, especially the immature seeds, so some may still get through. If you want a truly pulp-less sauce with more of liquid consistency, you'd probably want to either mill or blend (in a really good blender/food processor) your mix, and then force it through a strainer or cheesecloth. In that case, milling may be a step you can skip, since the straining process will keep seed particles out.

    Why didn't you use the damn mill

  • @kathym6603
    @kathym6603 Месяц назад

    Rookies need to know you must cook the food first. If I'm wrong, show me. I wouldn't even put grapes through here without cooking them first. Whole plum tomatoes need 10 minutes in boiling water then run through the mill, skins and all.

    I was enjoying your presentation, but... you never actually milled any foods. 😕 Disappointed altho it looks workable.
