I'm sure Joe is a wonderful person, but a word about theatre manners: those audience members should wait until the bows to cheer for their friend. Depending on a show, it's occasionally acceptable to cheer at a super well-known person's first entrance before the scene begins and before the actor has begun speaking or singing. But it's another thing to suddenly cheer for a friend in the midst of the ensemble's intense opening number. That can momentarily distract the other audience members (not to mention the cast) and can take the audience out of the atmosphere they've immersed themselves in. Better to respect the intent of the director and the cast and allow the mood to be.
@@Avery_4272 thank you! This show has brought in a bunch of young people, especially girls. This isn't a pop concert where it's ok to scream over the performance.

Totally agree. In terms of basic theatre manners, those audience members should've waited until the end bows to cheer for their friend. I suppose, depending on a show, it's inevitable that people may cheer at a super well-known person's first entrance before the scene begins and before the actor has begun speaking or singing. But it's another thing to suddenly cheer for a friend in the midst of the ensemble's intense opening number. That can momentarily distract the other audience members (not to mention the cast) and can take the audience out of the atmosphere they've immersed themselves in. Better to respect the intent of the director and the cast and allow for the mood intended, is my opinion.
