- For my 40th Birthday my parents bought me this wonderful copy of the Gibson 335 guitar the Epiphone Dot in cherry burst. Just like Marty McFly from Back to the future. I love it and thought you might enjoy my unboxing video. Please let me know if you enjoy and subscribe for future videos
You couldn't have spent your "birthday money" in any better way than that! I just bought a 2d hand Epiphone Dot (a 2005 model, made in Korea) and I can't put it down. It looks exactly like the one you got, with the only difference being that mine has a plain pick guard without the "E" logo. I usually play it essentially unplugged, and it sounds, feels and plays great. Very lively, very resonant. Sweet guitar! Well done!

@@themediapreacher8154 I've got a friend (who happens to be a luthier) and he owns a really gorgeous 2013 Gibson 335 "Custom Shop" model. I don't know what he paid for the Gibson (probably around $3 grand), but I got Epiphone for $400 including a nice SKB hardshell case. After he did a little tweaking on my Dot I honestly don't think I could find $5 worth of difference between the two. It's crazy!
One thing you can't complain about with Andertons is their attention to customer service.

As we know Epiphone are owned by Gibson so for Gibson to put there name to something they must be pretty good. Also the sign outside the factory that make Epiphones in China says Gibson.

I’ve just got one yesterday and compared it to my brothers Gibson es 335 60s, of course through the same amp. And I the Gibson is slightly better. With overdrive it both sounded the same. I’m so glad I went and saved £4000. I can’t put down my epiphone

Dude your first impression was like the one of kid on Christmas morning hahaha I enjoyed that part. I am getting one on sunburst colour I was able to try it before buying it and maaaaan there is anything you can complain about it compared to gibson es335

Nice Guitar , I was going to get a Dot , Too but I ended up going for a haze same guitar only the switch is up the top like a les paul , and different headstock , Plus its a austrailian company , There made in china like most of them are these days , Enjoy they are beauitful guitars

Great review! I’ve been looking into the Gibson ES-335 a lot lately as well and this guitar, particularly the Blueberry Burst one is really tempting! Thinking I might just go for it.

A few weeks ago I ordered online a Mexican Fender Telecaster and as an impulse buy I also got a B stock, ex demo, blue Epiphone Dot. I don't like the Tele tbh as it's badly set-up from the factory and I'm waiting for lockdown to end so I can get it to a guitar tech to decide if it's going back. The Dot on the other hand is perfectly set up, plays like a dream and has replaced my Steinberger Synapse as my favourite go to guitar. Tuning stability is excellent and the feel is just wonderful. Can't wait to play it with the band. The Tele is just a tool for a job and it will do.

Nicolas Hey Nicolas, thanks for checking out the channel and the kind comment. It’s made me fall in love with the guitar again. On this video I was using a small Marshall practice amp. I have been using it on my you tube covers and for that I have been plugging it into an amp simulator called the jo yo American pedal. Sounds amazing through that. Used it on both maybe I’m amazed and Ohio that way, sweet sound. Please let me know if you pick one up👍🇬🇧😎

Bro , awesome way to go, my Dot is my favorite axe I have a korean made you can always upgrade it if you want, they are heavy as fuck, but the neck is awesome, to me better action than Gibson and music man.

Fun fact George Harrison used that guitar in 1962
While it is similar in style, both George Harrison and John Lennon purchased Epiphone Casinos (a similar model, but with P90 pickups and a little bit smaller then a standard ES335), not Epiphone dots, which were first produced in the 1990's.

Umm no mate. I’m pretty damn sure that this is marketed as Epiphone. The chibsons are literal copies with Gibson on the headstock.

Your Dot is not a chibson, which are cheaply made and often unplayable. Gibson owns Epiphone, and all Chinese Epis are made in dedicated factory owned by Gibson, which make only Epiphones. No other brands. The quality is surprisingly good and consistent.
I bought my Dot 4 years ago as a backup for my 1995 Gibson 335 that was going to need to be refretted. I preferred the D profile neck on the Dot and in the end sold the Gibson with no regrets.
I have been playing 56 years. A good guitar is a good guitar regardless of where it's made or the name on the headstock.
I still have 2 Gibsons, a 1940 L12 and a 1959 L4C, as well as a US made Strat, but the Dot is the one I play every day. Enjoy!
