- Our family actually loves getting snow storms because we know that we can’t go anywhere and we can just be together hang out relax because we are a very busy family. We’re constantly on the go so any excuse or situation to allow us to spend time together and relax we definitely are up for it.
My husband is such a hard worker and he’s constantly preparing when he knows that we have serious snow coming. He will get all the generators ready to go. Make sure the horses are warm all taken care of and the chickens are also safe and feeders and everything are working properly.
He spent the day trying to help my daughter Hailey get the right generator and get it set up for her and then he came home. Made sure that the tractor and snowblower was ready to go. Filled all the generators up with fuel got all the shovels just make sure we were all ready to go.
I did my part by getting the wood, all stacked for a fire for him to relax by when he came in, I got the blankets in the Coco and coffee already to go and got all my breakfast items ready for our traditional snowstorm breakfast.
As the boys headed out to start, snowblowing shoveling off cars and the front and back porch, I started making breakfast. Normally me and Noah do it together but because him and Izzy were in the barn washing eggs, I decided just to go ahead and take care of it so when they got done, everybody could come in to a nice breakfast with hot coffee and Coco ready to give them. I made a wonderful breakfast with pancakes, homemade sausage, gravy, and biscuits, scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit.
After breakfast, I got everything cleaned up. Izzy went to the barn to check on the horses and then come to find out. She was actually riding horses in training them in a literal, blizzard. We able to watch a little football and then just kind of relaxed. We had all the dogs and cats in and it was just a really nice day of relaxing and playing in the snow and eating breakfast and then a nice warm soup for later. It was just what we needed to collect ourselves and get ready for the busy week ahead.

I do not have children, unfortunately. I just keep thinking you and your husband are amazing. Just keeping the kids in clothes and food, let alone ALL the other expenses for little things like utilities and insurance (lol). I'm glad you are sharing the wisdom of years being a parent. The danish butter was still a great deal! The meijer butter you usually use is a 16oz package and the danish butter is also a 16oz package, just packaged differently! The danish butter stick is just shorter and thicker in height but it’s still the same amount of butter as the meijer butter! Don’t worry, you paid the same amount for the same amount of butter! :)
I love these videos. I like the longer ones because I like to put you on while I'm chopping vegetables for dinner, or washing dishes etc. It makes me feel like I have company. ❤

The Danish Creamery butter is a 1lb box just like the Meijer. The sticks are shorter, but thicker. If you look on the stick, each one is still 8T.
I used this when making 200+ dozen cookies for Christmas.

I've always made my sausage gravy with flour added over the sausage, then add milk. Learned it from my mom and grandma!
I learned that from my aunt who was married to a Southern man.
Same. Brown my meat, add a little oleo (my butter is for baking, oleo for cooking)😂, then add flour over everything, cook 2-3 minutes then add milk. Same for my hamburger gravy
That's what I do. If sausage is lean won't have much grease.

Joshua is so lovable I swear his smile could melt any heart! well, my mom would see everybody like playing around, but they really be shaking their baby and she would freak out. She would tell them shaking baby and something you do not mess with and everybody always thought she was over exaggerating and never paid in mines and I think the video about Joshua just reiterating when our mom tell us something it’s for our own good and the elders in the family wise knowledge surpasses all of ours 😆

My Mom used to cook her refrigerator biscuits by melting bacon grease dipping the bisquits on each side before baking. To save a step snd a pan, you could cook your biscuits on the pan from which you removed your bacon

I always love watching your videos. I was a chef for 17 years before I got sick with colon cancer sadly dealing with it again if I could beat it once I could beat it twice anyway, all the places I ever worked professionally as a chef, we always cooked are bacon in the oven and we would always keep her fat to use it to make onions in any restaurant or casino that I have worked at. There was a little too no trash. We try to use every part of any kind of food in any way possible I do miss it, I wish I could work as a chef again been cooking since I was four now I’m 43 I’m disabled but I cook for my parents I take care of both of them my father has Alzheimer’s and dementia, and my mother needs help walking even though I have a lot of medical issues I try to help as much as I can . I love watching your videos each and everyone of your kids are beautiful on the inside and out. Thank you for bringing us into your family. Stay blessed and hope 2024 brings you great happiness. 🎉❤

I got that butter back at Christmas and made brown butter rice krispie treats so good..
My MIL got the sausage gravy recipe from our local breakfast diner years ago. Brown the sausage, don’t drain, put flour directly on the sausage then add a stick of butter and milk. It is sooo good!!!
I always skip the stick of butter to save calories and fat. The fat from the sausage is enough. If the sausage is too lean and not quite enough fat I will use 1/3 a stick but no more.
Heather I gotta tell ya... I chose to watch this video because it was over an hour. I love these long videos. So much fun seeing your hubby pick you up . I do feel like he was driving way too fast in the snow. Its nice that all your kids pitch into help.

Looks lovely i am a south african, and it is our summer know, it is very hot and our summer months is from September to april then the month of may is pre winter then winter starts only in june to august our lowest is about 13degrees so we dont get any snow here, so for me it is lovele to see so much snow so it is lovely in certain parts of South Africa get snow, mostly the mountains

I grew up with 7siblings so we were a family of 10. My mom was always cooking homemade food for us. I never realized as a young child how much work n love she put into all our meals. I never make a roux separately. I always add it to the meat and veggies and then add the liquid. So you’re good! And the thickest it’ll ever get is the thickness it is when it boils. I learned that from Emeril!
Take time to look at the packaging, read the blurb on the package, the oz. etc. Another content creator Becky at Acre Homestead uses a brand of butter that has the squatty bars of butter, it is still a pound, 16 oz, each still one quarter of a pound. We are just not used to seeing that. 😊❤

It's okay, it hasn't been that long since you lost your Dad. Grief is a long road, but God will carry you. Sadness is a there because of the love we have in our hearts. That does not pass when our loved ones do. My Dad passed on our mutual birthday in 2002 and there are still so many times when I reminise and have tears. It's because we will always love our Dads! Yep that’s how our door looked the last day of our storm here in the Mitten dumped us 3 feet along with the foot and half from the day before. I’m grateful for our wood cookstove warm and toasty and able to cook some warming meals. god is good. Stay warm and safe family

Don't worry about the Danish Butter. I believe the pkgs you bought are 16 oz. Each squatty looking are a quarter just like the longer quarters in butter produced here. You did not get cheated, each one is still only one quarter of a pound of butter. Just watch, because that brand does have an 8 oz package that is just that, 2 sticks. Although says it is produced on California family dairy farms, Danish Creamery butter quality is a source of pride and tradition. Valley Fresh Since 1895.

I always leave my sausage in the pan...add a little oil and add flour and cook that a little...constantly moving it around...so the flavor gets in the flour as well.. 😊
Hi Heather! I have made sausage gravy that way (add the flour to the meat) for over 30 years. And I always use milk and it’s still delicious and so easy and most importantly, my husband loves it! You’re so fun to watch, down to earth and real.
My dad was in the Air Force and drove a wood paneled station wagon. We sat in the back where the seat faced the rear so we would watch all the people driving behind us. Wow that must have been annoying😂

I am always amazed at how other people make breakfast gravy. I would have thrown that bacon grease in there.😂 I also make southern gravy that is much darker where we cook the flour a little bit more. Great video.

I have always added my flour onto my sausage, just stir well. I also use evaporated milk and then add regular milk. It makes it so rich and yummy.
