Hollis attaches the utmost importance to the slightest note, and especially to silence, which plays an essential role on the album. It's not for nothing that the first note of the record only sounds after a long silence (or rather a almost
    perceptible murmur).
The result is an album of impressive cohesion and depth. The sobriety of the whole emphasises as never before the majesty of Hollis's vocal lines, whose voice and writing reach new heights here.
The path was chaotic to get there ...But what beauty ...There is even closer to the denouement and the ultimate expression of Mark Hollis and Talk Talk... Or how to get rid of the superfluous to keep only the essentials...
    THANKS
It's going to be difficult to find live performances of this Mark Hollis Talk Talk album, like Nick Drake ,he didn't show himself no longer in public... Once again the beauty of these last three albums plus "Mark Hollis" album are such treasure chests....

So good. And that 'solo' half way through still sounds mad all these years later - nothing like it. Got to do 'New Grass' now! The unsung heroes on this track, and the album it comes from, are Tim Friese-Greene (producer) and Phill Brown (Engineer) who pieced together a lot of the sound textures from literally hours of tracks that they had amassed during the recording sessions. Such a unique sound.

I grew up on heavy/prog rock but always loved talk talk. Mark hollis had a great voice.

They went from synth pop to this amazing abrupt about face... with 2 groundbreaking and ahead of it's time albums before they ended, influencing legions of great artists in the post rock, dream pop, noise rock, and progressive rock genres and beyond. Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden are timeless masterpieces.

This is the real Talk Talk mate. Ethereal minimalist post rock where the silence begins to take over. Absolutely nothing comes close for me, except Drake, John Martyn, and a handful of others. Great choice my friend, and there's more where this diamond came from! 👌
