- A Georgia Northeastern grain train heads north in October 2016, the roads 567 fleet was on short time as new Patriot Rail GP38s would arrive by the end of the year to displace the entire fleet. Today these big consists of matching GNRR red and silver units are just a memory.
Dead crossing bell at 5:25! Nice video though! Love those ALCOs, especially the high-hood!
Those are EMD units
Yet another fantastic video!
Thanks!
Some of the old silver and reds are actually still in use. I filmed them a few weeks ago for our channel.
Cool video!
Gotta love those old Geeps. Any idea where they went after they were sold?
I believe atleast 1 went to become a grain elevator switcher near St. Louis.
ask em to preserve there oldest locomotives especially the high hoods
They need something new if it takes 5 units to pull 33 cars.
Considering how steep the grades are on this line the locos are performing just fine. But since this video was taken all but the two newest ones in this consist have been retired and replaced. Now probably takes 4 to pull the grade.
Shit I think it looks great with the 5 units
OMG, is the terrain that steep in North Georgia , Do they really need so many units to pull such short trains up there ?
Yes, these trains are very heavy (loaded grain) and there are grades up to 2.5% if I remember right. The line was very cheaply built so did not employ many cuttings or fills to reduce grades.
want to steel Great Walton railroad 3086 its a GP 40
What time do these trains come through holly springs
RIP
