I think if you have the right mixture of black powder, it may create a hot enough chemical reaction, to accelerate into an electrochemical reaction, which strips electrons off of atoms, and collide with other atoms atomic nuclei... leading to a short chain reaction... that is nuclear in nature. But only with the right mix. Which is important because black powder isn't radioactive by itself.
You can tell how huge and far that is by the delay in the first boom of it launching. I can't imagine what that second boom was like, too bad it cut short
