    My first and current car being a Black 07 V6 pony package Mustang, I can for one admit its mediocrity. Doesn't mean I don't love it to bits tho. It's no GT, but I couldn't past up the deal I got for it, for 93,000 miles in nearly perfect condition...besides I wanted the Mustang looks more than anything. I think, if you do just subtle appearance upgrades, suspension upgrades, a nice flowmaster exhaust, maybe some drilled and slotted rotors, LED lighting, obligatory intake upgrade, etc...it can be a very stylish, daily driver for a first time driver looking for something that isn't another boring sedan. If you can find a decent GT, GET IT NOW!!! But if not the ,V6 isn't a bad choice either, just put some money into it tho to make it more fun to drive lol and don't try make it something it's not. It's just such a perfect first car, so long as your mature enough, and it'll take care of you if you take care of it. I've learn so much about car ownership and how to work on cars that I've genuinely grown as a person, and I can thank my little V6 for that. Take pride in your ride no matter what....but next time shoot for a GT😅

      I have a Red 07 vert with a pony package. People come up to me all the time and ask me what year it is (because it reminds them of a 1967 Mustang GTA convertible). I have had it since birth and it just has 96K miles. The environment has killed the paint in spots. The rear differential has 3.15 gears which makes the car kind of peppy (I live in a 35-40 mph town.) The base model vert with an automatic only has 2.73 gears. My Ford cloth seats dryrotted after 10 years and had to have them replaced with leather. Overall I love the classic design, just hate the cheap Ford parts.

      @@lcbrownz1 yea its a beautifully simple car. I agree tho, so much cheap ford stuff on it. Found a good aluminium replacement for the thermostat housing (that isn't the cheap-o ones from ebay or amazon) and she's been a dream. Everythings else I've done to it, well its old so naturally you gotta replace things. Just gotta keep up those regular oil changes and pray it keeps our 4.0L from having any of those timing chain issues I hear about affecting the earlier ones from the rangers and explorers version of these engines.

    When the battery goes dead and you put in a new one you must re-program the windows to again roll down when you open the doors. There are videos on RUclips that explain the procedure. (The battery in my 06 died in January.)

    That noise from the rear differential is probably worn-out bearings. I would have it looked at before it gets any worse (obviously not during the pandemic, but as soon as is practical).

    Currently looking for a car and looking at ford fusions, Kia optimas but I always wanted a mustang. Just found one around me for 13,500 as a 2007 convertible with only 43,000 and I hope I could bump it down to 10-11 and I’d buy it forsure. Low KM, sexy looking car and I hear they are rather reliable and consistent cars. I’m curious about maintenance cost and common problem for this year and model.

    the engines are not easy to work on, once the rear timing guide (plastic) breaks which it will, you have to remove the engine to fix it. also the 5r55 auto trans is a real pos and tends to go out at 80-150k miles.

      The timing chain/guide problem is why I got a 2003 3.8L. It's a pushrod engine and the timing parts are easily accessible without pulling the engine.

    The rear end whine is the differential. The back lash isn’t set properly, it will cause unnecessary wear, and that noise. Just run thicker oil the while will get quieter and prolong the life

    • @mythically_odd
      @mythically_odd 4 года назад +3

      I dont know what sort of speakers are in these cars, but my stock speakers on my v6 pony package mustang are...ok. Nothing spectacular but gets the job done. But I would suggest to swap the stock stereo out with a bluetooth pioneer one and upgraded side speakers. Unless you want a full on sound system in the trunk but that's seems like overkill. I plan to do this eventually too as I would like some added clarity to the music coming out, but like I said for now stock is ok until you swap them out.

    "adequate car, but not much more" Are you crazy??? A bright red rear wheel drive 2 door convertible is only adequate?? You can't be serious. Would you rather be driving a dark gray front wheel drive 4 door Nissan Altima? I bought an almost like new 2003 Zinc Yellow V6 coupe with only 67,000 miles on it about 4 years ago, for $4800. I absolutely love driving it. And it really stands out in a sea of black, white, and gray front wheel drive 4 door Japanese sedans.

      get a solid top bro. Looks way better. My 07 GT has a solid top, I could have gone convertible but decided not to and I'm thankful for it every day. I've been in both and just looking at the car the soft top totally kills the aggressive styling to me, plus you lose alot of functionality and power too

      My guess is that the top itself is reliable, but I am not sure (for security reasons) that I would have bought my 06 convertible if I still lived in a large city.
      BTW, my feeling (no pun intended) is that these convertibles feel fairly rigid, though I haven't really tossed it around on a track or on an interstate.
      However, my Crown Victoria isn't as rigid feeling but instead feels firm. Sort of like the difference between sleepng on a firm mattress or sleeping on the floor, with the Mustang being the more like being on the floor.

      STRESSMAN
      I agree the 93-98 was ugly as hell. Ford Probe GT was better.
      However I didn’t Care for the 05-09. Reasons it was to big, felt unstable at triple digit speeds. I couldn’t get a feel of the car at those speeds. The car was to plain which required body kits, Wing, and suspension upgrade. Adding up the cost, it wasn’t worth it. Those cars are hard to sell right now. Ford tried to correct it on the 2010-2014 model but perfected it on the 2015-Current Model. I respect your opinion tho
