This comes at such a perfect time, I was reminiscing on my school years today. It's funny how I cared about boys and friends only a couple of years ago and now I'm 20 living in the city, with an amazing job I've lost friends last year who are at uni after going on a girls holiday and just how they are caring so much about things that while I'm not older I would consider wiser and maturer due to working. You realise the worlds a huge place and friendships are so easily made there's so many people in the world and not just the select few in your teenage bubble. I love being older and picking where I want to live and what I want to spend my money on!

All of this is exactly how I felt as a teen! I didn't have a proper boyfriend til 21 and always worried about it (late starter right here!) but ironically I was the first of my friends to get married haha...those who had boyfriends then are single now we're in our late 20s x
I'm 19 and i still haven't dated anyone yet and i feel like i'm weird or something. All the people my age have already been in a relationship and i haven't. I feel like they have alot of experience and they know everything about dating. My friends are pressuring me about it so much and it makes me feel so uncomfortable and conscious. Haha omg that childhood picture in the beginning!! Haha ever African kid has suffered the hair struggle. My mom used to braid my hair foward. I literally had a cornrow fringe. Worst part was my hair was shot as hell
Most, thankfully that wasn't my portion. My mum worked hard, and took me to people who could do my hair, so I looked good. I guess not having relaxed hair helped too. Braid, braids and more braids :)

I'm 18 now and my boyfriend is almost 20. All his friends that have become our friends are around 23/24 so we both have grown up quicker being around them. We have found that now we are both in jobs that we have only a few friends but the friends we have we love! I think you are totally right how you may not have as many friends but you certainly have true friends when you start to become an adult! I'll be 26th next month and thinking back on my teen years now I can say I'm the same person but better. So I figure by the time I'm 30 I will be awesome to the max lol, joking kinda. Anyway My tolerance for things aren't very high anymore when it comes to negative people. One of my best friends bless her heart is emotionally and mentally stuck at 17. I can no longer tolerate social media drama and catty behavior not that I could before but now I will shut it down before it even starts. I'm more confident then I was then. I'm not afraid to wear what I truly like, have my own sense of style. I definitely dress better lol. As for the dating department. I was a rookie for a looong time meaning, I didn't have my first bf until 24. I decided to date a lot and put myself out there for a year and I've learned sooooo much. I'm not not as awkward around men although a cute guy will make me stutter and sweat still but I think that's a good thing lol. Oh and body wise, I was bony until 19. 19, 20 and 21 I got curvy as crap lol, now I know the importance of working out and eating right because you truly do feel better. I've learned to work with the booty. Overall we all will leaner more in our next chapters.Once my 20s are done I'll look back and be like wtf
olexia07 I a little older then you. Looking back I had nothing to be happy about. I didn't go to prom ,ring dance, gradation , or even go to the movies. I was really an outsider from grades 6 - 12. I have ppl whom I hang out with and go to school but I still have a long way to go. I'm just happy I don't have to go back to that ever.

As a 25-year-old, I can relate to so many of these points! Patricia you are an amazing role model and just give the most spot on advice for young people.
Unfortunately i disagree that your body doesn't change. Your metabolism slows down as you get older so you're more likely to gain weight. You do however learn to accept/gauge how to handle it. Acne also either gets worse or btr but it doesn't always go away as you get older. I am still shy to approach men but I am more confident when they approach me.
Don't uni if it don't go uni if you feel that way. Of a huge debt so only go if you will commit to the course and that you degree will improve your income.
You inspire me so much, and I really feel like I can relate to you. I too was once the "ugly friend" and I'm currently working toward my glow up :) I'm 19 and I'm a broker for National 1 Energy. Everything is new to me and I struggle to come out of my shell and talk to people, but watching your videos gives me hope that I can pull through. Thank you

I learnt that pretty much nothing is the be-all and end all. Things that don't go as planned and devastate you at the time will diminish in importance when you focus on your growth and lean into the diverted route. And great things are so abundant. You will find new love. New passions. You can still be happy :)

I started taking control of my life a year ago. Last year, I was a shy, 16 year old, sophomore in high school. I realized that I didn't want to go through the typical high school experience. I didn't want to slow life down to get through high school. I wanted to speed it up so I could get started on life, personally. All throughout my 'career' as a student, I was always the one being bullied, picked on, or just the isolated, awkward child. I decided to graduate an entire year ahead of schedule. So I'm squeezing two years in order to my life together, but it's worth it all the work. The light at the end of my tunnel is knowing that I will be able to start my life early.
Patricia, I genuinely love your hair short. It fits your face structure better than the long hair. You, at least to me, glow more with that length of hair. I just love it on you!!!

I'm 20 now currently in my second year of university (somewhat an adult) and i think freedom in adulthood definitely comes at a price (student life=broke life). I've always been someone who wanted to travel the world and do very adventurous things but I'll have to wait lol hopefully once I've graduated in the next two years and get my first actual career, I'll truly understand what it means to be free and truly happy (not that I'm not happy), but for now, I'll hit the books and watch your videos and continue to be inspired! I can no longer tolerate social media drama and catty behavior not that I could before but now I will shut it down before it even starts. I'm more confident then I was then. I'm not afraid to wear what I truly like, have my own sense of style. I definitely dress better lol. As for the dating department. I was a rookie for a looong time meaning, I didn't have my first bf until 24. I decided to date a lot and put myself out there for a year and I've learned sooooo much. I'm not not as awkward around men although a cute guy will make me stutter and sweat still but I think that's a good thing lol. Oh and body wise, I was bony until 19. 19, 20 and 21 I got curvy as crap lol, now I know the importance of working out and eating right because you truly do feel better. I've learned to work with the booty. Overall we all will leaner more in our next chapters.Once my 20s are done I'll look back and be like wtf
olexia07 I a little older then you. Looking back I had nothing to be happy about. I didn't go to prom ,ring dance, gradation , or even go to the movies. I was really an outsider from grades 6 - 12. I have ppl whom I hang out with and go to school but I still have a long way to go. I'm just happy I don't have to go back to that ever.
I'm 18 and I'm definitely feeling unconfident and like the skinniest girl in the world with the twiggiest legs ever that's why I'm trying to bulk up my legs at the gym haha

As a 25-year-old, I can relate to so many of these points! Patricia you are an amazing role model and just give the most spot on advice for young people.
Unfortunately i disagree that your body doesn't change. Your metabolism slows down as you get older so you're more likely to gain weight. You do however learn to accept/gauge how to handle it. Acne also either gets worse or btr but it doesn't always go away as you get older. I am still shy to approach men but I am more confident when they approach me.

Don't uni if it don't go uni if you feel that way. Of a huge debt so only go if you will commit to the course and that you degree will improve your income.

I learnt that pretty much nothing is the be-all and end all. Things that don't go as planned and devastate you at the time will diminish in importance when you focus on your growth and lean into the diverted route. And great things are so abundant. You will find new love. New passions. You can still be happy :)

I started taking control of my life a year ago. Last year, I was a shy, 16 year old, sophomore in high school. I realized that I didn't want to go through the typical high school experience. I didn't want to slow life down to get through high school. I wanted to speed it up so I could get started on life, personally. All throughout my 'career' as a student, I was always the one being bullied, picked on, or just the isolated, awkward child. I decided to graduate an entire year ahead of schedule. So I'm squeezing two years in order to my life together, but it's worth it all the work. The light at the end of my tunnel is knowing that I will be able to start my life early.
I really enjoy these kinds of video's. Thankyou for brightning my day, makes me feel a lot better Patricia! Xx

Hey Pat! I loved the video, very inspirational! I'm 20 now currently in my second year of university (somewhat an adult) and i think freedom in adulthood definitely comes at a price (student life=broke life). I've always been someone who wanted to travel the world and do very adventurous things but I'll have to wait lol hopefully once I've graduated in the next two years and get my first actual career, I'll truly understand what it means to be free and truly happy (not that I'm not happy), but for now, I'll hit the books and watch your videos and continue to be inspired!

I'm 16 and I'm atleast 5'11. I feel so ashamed of my height especially since everyone is constantly pointing it out... However, I'm pretty confident in my bodyshape and I really like my face and my hair. Someday i might feel confident about my height too, my dream is to wear high heels.
