Yeah, the genius of Death Row is that they made a lot of party music with a gangsta edge. Most of their single records showed the friendlier/glamorous side to gang culture, complete with music videos focused on beach barbeques, cruising in lowriders, house parties, and the club, etc.
Meanwhile, gangsta rappers from other labels focused on making straight up drive-by music, and ended up not getting played in the soccer mom mini van (which is where the money's at).
