I’ve used Mounting Dream mounts on every TV except my 77” OLED. I opted for Sanus on that one. The MD mounts are amazing, and the wall bracket is the exact measurement vertically, meaning different arms can fit different wall amounts. This was useful today; I have a TV with telescoping arms but didn’t need them or like them. My brother finally got a Sonos sound bar and thus required the telescoping arms to have proper space from the wall. Many of the brands on Amazon appear to have the same attributes as long as you stick with the same brand.

I went with the Mount-It! Long Extension TV Mount ($150 on Amazon) that can come out to 36 in for my LG CX 55” and I can get it perfectly 90 degree angle! This mount is super heavy and I was worried when I unboxed it. But I made sure it was secured 1000% on studs! It’s been up for a year and happy to say, it’s still flushed to the wall and doesn’t squeaks and I usually bring it 90 degrees or flush to the wall on and off.
I love watching all your installations even unboxing! I’m always learning something new! Cheers! 😊

We got the Echogear 42'-80" Articulating Wall Mount back in Dec 2017. This was for my Sony XBR-850C 65" LCD TV. To move it off the table and onto the wall. I live in Los Angeles, and I was concerned about it flying off the shelf in an earthquake. I also wanted more room to but a Center speaker under it. A buddy, who works at one of the Science Museums on exhibits and displays installed it for me. It was $100 at the time. He liked it for how sturdy and engineered it was. He was able to mount it to the studs in the wall. And he used a leveler to make the TV perfectly level. I mostly keep it flat against the wall. But it's so easy to move it, when I need to managed cables in back or troubleshoot something. I've experimneted tiliting it downward slightly to help with sunlight glare through the blinds. That can be a little ticky adjusting it. You really need 2 people. One to hold the TV at the given able you want. Whele the 2nd person tightens the knob in back to lock it at the desiered angle. If you don't adaquetly tighten it, then it can gradually can anlge forward until it hits the maximum range. It's something like 15 degrees maximum angle downward. Currently, it's flat and parallel to the wall. I do most of my serious TV watching at night.
Then in summer 2020, I got an LG CX 65" TV. As a precaution, I contacted Echogear and told them I wanted to swap TVs, LCD to an OLED. They sent me a Sanus adapter bracket just in case. For free! Thanks, Echogear. When the TV was delivered, I had BestBuy install it. They took down the Sony LCD and put up the LG OLED. That did not need the Sanus adapter. And they got it within an inch of its originally installed location. I can't tell a difference from the couch. But they could with measurements on the wall.
While it was $100, it's a quality product. I've very happy with it.

Sanus VMPL3B I bought back in 2013 for my 65in Panasonic ST30. I just purchased a Samsung 75IN. Q80T and this worked on that TV as well. I believe the Sanus VMPL3B is one of the best mounts they have ever made. I believe it would hold up to a 280lb TV.
    Good luck and nice video.

I'm sold on Perlesmith. Four as of delivery in the morning! Hurc Ian manage to wreck our home and TV's with it. Took the mounts, a table top and a floor stand with a (fragile) glass bottom and shelf. Took my TV's off, gleaned up and they have new TVs on them. Got a wall mount for my son's new home here in Southern Tier NY. On order, another table stand for my 13 y/o 47" LG. It's a heavy beast, but no worry's with the Perlesmith.

OH MAN!!! You may have just saved me pulling my hair out. We are building a new home after 8 years living in a motorhome touring America. Between this video and a couple other videos on running wires up a wall I can see it would be rather stupid on my part to try to predict where we would wall mount new TVs. Instead of predicting locations and having the builder set power/data boxes we plan to leave the power and data boxes down low (traditional) and then once we buy TVs and wall mounts we can do the work to run wires to these exact locations. THANKS!!!

I'm glad that you mentioned the depth of the Mantel Mount. They NEVER show how deep that thing is, because it's actually somewhat of a deterrent. The back of your TV sits 5.7" away from the wall, so unless you have a TV pocket or TV mount pocket in the wall... your TV sits 5.7" + whatever your TV depth is away from the wall. I just bought the MM540 right from Mantel Mount because it's $130 cheaper than Amazon. I also plan on reconstructing my wall above the fireplace to create a pocket for the mount. This way I can avoid the obnoxious, protruding TV that sits further out from the wall than the mantel does.

Your info video is GREAT! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It's obvious your video is not for those who are in the construction phase and I would like to offer something we did that may not be all that unique, but it worked for us. And, with a little extra effort, could also work on many walls that are part of some "remodeling."
We chose to RECESS OUR MOUNT! :-)
We originally were thinking of putting the entire TV in a recess (read niche) and then realized that by doing just the mount, we had no future restrictions to what size or shape the TV might have. The mount I used in our last home was a fully articulating Monoprice #12280 mount that had such impressive "extras and quality of engineering" that I had to try to find it again. I did. :-)
I hope this helps anyone who wants their TV to be as close to the wall as possible (considering operating requirements) and it must be mentioned that the recessed area for the mount, alone, should have electric and A/V cabling access mounted in such a way as to NOT interfere with MOUNT's moving parts! Thank you again for your great advice!

We have the Mantel Mount and it is a great option. We find ourselves pulling the TV down most night as it gives a better viewing angle. It might not be for everyone but it really fits our space and how we like to watch TV. It can be pricy but worth a shot if you like the look of a mounted TV with the option of near eye level viewing.

THANK YOU! I was able to both use your video for feeling confident in doing this on my own, but also your suggestions for the products. I have an older home and wasn't sure if I have 16" or 14" studs. My stud finder kept giving me "false positives" and so six extra holes later that I ended up patching, I almost gave up. I Googled some more and found another video where this guy suggested using magnets. Worked perfectly! I was able to confirm my 24" stud distance and the rest was easy as pie. Sharing the magnet trick in case others have issues with the studs part (which, honestly, took more time than the actual mounting!)

With todays open floor plan homes we need mounts that do a 90° turn so the tv is aiming across to the side into another area in the home. So we need long extension arms that dont sag, with some cable management for making large tvs like a 77" be able to make a full 90° turn. AND if we want them to be flat, we need the mount box to recess so the arms fold into the wall. I had such a mount, and it was GREAT, BUT, not available to turn a tv 90°, as they need to be longer than 35" from wall surface to center of mount plate.

Our home is a designer's nightmare and we can only put our new 55" TV in a corner. Bought the Costco mount your recommended only to find out 38 inches of sheetrock has one stud 16" from the corner. There's a door frame at 38 inches with NO studs - only the trim. I need to find a mount that will work so we can extend the TV out from that wall and pivot the TV so it can be seen from from the the rest of the room. I might go to a 65" TV, so the bracket really should hit the corner stud and one at 16".

You just need that mounting Dream one and put the 1 stud in center of the wall plate. I do that all the time and then turn tv. They also make larger single stud mounts for 65" too. Just look for one with 100+ lb rating on the single stud. But personally I would just use that md2380 and turn it after hitting stud in center. 👌🙏

Can you please do a video on the best mounts for RV’s? We Rv’ers struggle with not having standard walls and studs are almost impossible to find, especially near where you actually want to have a new Oled tv mounted? Much appreciation for this video!

I got the Mounting Dreams MD2298 16 to 24 Inch stud 132lb articulating mount right after I got my TCL 65 825 set to fit the 24" studs my house has and take the weight, plus handle a bigger TV upgrade down the road. It's great, really solid into the studs, moves really smoothly, and doesn't droop. Really well made and the mounts bars and bracket on the TV are easy to slide together and really beefy. Way better than the 35 dollar eBay bracket I had before which worked fine for my previous 55" TV. It's more expensive but really worth it if you're mounting a heavy large set. I'm upgrading to a 75 Z9K so hoping and pretty sure it can mount it. I'll have to double check that...

Hello, thanks for the great suggestions. I just purchased an 85 inch Sony X91J and initially we wanted it mounted fixed to the wall, but changed our mind since we now think it would look better on a console or entertainment center. It's hard to find one that fits the dimensions of this TV. Any suggestions? TV legs measure 60 inches wide by 18 inches deep.

Thank you for putting out this very informative video. If I may ask, what mount for a 70" TV would be good for a niche (nook) above the fireplace? Niche is 41" wide and 28" deep. Many thanks.

I bought the 3rd mount from your list and now I'm stuck not being able to mount it on my wall due to centering issue as my wall studs are not located in the center of the wall. Of course I didn't watch this video before I bought it from Amazon. Wish I had bought the 4th mount you mentioned!

Great video. I am still looking for a wall mount for my 60" tv. I am about to return my third purchased mount. Why you ask, because the builders of my house obviously framed the fireplace wall on a Friday afternoon. I have a stud at center (that works) but the one on the left is 11" out and the right side is at 16' out from the center. So the largest rear mounting panel was at 27" end to end and the mounting holes fell about an 1.5" to the inside. One came close but it had a formed rib running right where I would have had to add a hole.
I can't seem to get past the lack of actual mounting hole dimensioning in the ads for these mounts. At least you gave me a couple of new vendors to check out - thanks because I am running out of ideas short of cutting out the drywall and adding studs myself.

Hit the stud you have available and use some good wall anchors. There are plenty of very strong options available.

Any ideas for when a 180 degree swivel is necessary? We can’t fit a couch in front of the TV so ideally it needs to extend far and swivel 180 to face couch that is perpendicular

Thanks for the Video, I bought 2 at Costco- 2 arm articulating. My delima is the previous home owners put the electrical outlet and cable directly in the center so the plate covers it up and I believe I have to use another mount, They had a flat mount so the back was fully open. Any suggestions? The only option I see is to relocate the electrical and cable. Thanks

Awesome Video! But I need a 100x100 monitor wall mount that slides 'straight' in/out. (for a flight Sim cockpit) It needs to be able to be 'centered' at every distance. It looks like the 'scissor' mounts would work, but their brackets would stick way out. Any ideas? Thx!

Is the Sanus full motion mount flat enough that it looks decent? I don’t want it to look so bulky, but need to have enough of a range and like the tilt option as well. Thx 🙏🏻

Are there any other good options that raise and lower like the Mantel Mount? I'm trying to find a mount for outside under an overhang on our patio but would like to have the ability to lower and turn it to make it more comfortable viewing.
