@@jakobm1291 are you serious? they mentioned it how it was before neoliberalism: keynesian economics, you know, the New Deal... just go back to sane macroeconomics.
@@jakobm1291 maybe we are notoriously stubborn, but I also don’t think the issue is unique to us. The US is an incredibly young country, and everything that’s happening to us right now has happened historically all over the world. But because we are a global superpower and all eyes are trained on us, we are being scoffed at by countries who not only have gone through the same just within the last 100 years, but have their own far-right movements taking hold right now. This is a tale as old as time. Does that make it okay or good? No. But why are you asking this question as if anyone else has ever been able to answer it perfectly? There has yet to be a country or system that was indefinitely impervious to fascism and greed, so why would we have the answer? This is not to say we should throw up our hands and give in to tyranny, but I feel like it’s fashionable for foreign countries to be hypercritical of US citizens in particular - to say things like “do better America” and “Americans are stubborn” as if fascism is somehow innate to us and not something that can (and has) happened anywhere. And I think these countries do themselves a disservice by thinking this way, because it’s a way to falsely assure yourselves that it could never happen to you…that’s it’s uniquely an American thing. I promise you it is not - everything about MAGA is entirely unoriginal. Ya’ll also ask us these questions like you expect us to have perfect control over our government, and that all we have to do is collectively realize how terrible MAGA is, when in reality our government has been stacked against us since Reagan, and has always been much farther right than the true interests and intention of the American public. That’s what is so baffling about MAGA - they want universal healthcare, wider social safety nets, well-funded public education etc. but are constantly voting directly against their own interests. This openly oligarchal turn in our government was a death of 1000 cuts, but if I could point to what I thought were the biggest contributors, it would be 1) sub par public education, 2) Christian fundamentalism, 3) the right’s intense campaign of scapegoating marginalized groups, 4) misogyny, 5) a lack of quality physical and mental healthcare, 6) an exhausting work culture, 7) our two-party system, 8) the electoral college, 9) gerrymandering, 10) unchecked crony capitalism, 11) an aging, senile government (all of our younger politicians fight hard and seem genuinely interested in making things better for the American people, but are bogged down by older more conservative politicians on either side of the aisle). If we knew what the answer to undoing and perfectly safeguarding these things were, we would do it. At the very least ya’ll could avoid lumping us all together as ignorant and obstinate when so many of us are trying to do the right thing.

The real question is who still considers Democrats center or left? Why would anyone be surprised Democrats a right wing party pushes and supports a right wing agenda? For scale, The guy in the 2020 election who Democrats deemed "too far radical left" had policy drastically to the right of Nixon.
Stop seeing voting as the start and end of your political responsibilities. All voting does is create the space for real political action to be effective, it's necessary but not sufficient, and in the current American landscape you need *a lot* of political action on top to do anything (protest, grass roots organising, getting local and state power, organising to primary out establishment Democrats)
Remember that pre election 70%+ of average republicans wanted the same things you do. Once all those people unite The Dems and the GOP will vanish forever.
Yeah, thank you progressives and leftists for staying home and not voting Blue. Really helped immigrants, Gazans and your fellow Americans with that one.
Who the F are you talking to? I voted. WTF makes you think most people who stayed home were "progressives"? Most people are so detached from politics they don't even call themselves anything.
And thank you liberals for providing such a pathetic showing that you couldn't motivate people to vote *even though they already knew how harmful a Trump term would be*

Right. That's what MAGA does. Why don't we?
MAGA strongly agrees!
@CarlGerhardt1 yeah but contested not by MAGA nuts. By actual progressives
Fetterman is disgusting, if the Dems seriously try to adopt him as a new party hitch post you might as well stick to voting Republican.
