  • In this episode Snarky Puppy Guitarist Mark Lettieri Sounds Off about his Playing, Guitars and Gear.
    Here’s some more about Mark:
Mark Lettieri is a guitarist, composer and producer based in Fort Worth, TX. Proficient in a multitude of styles, he records and performs in virtually every genre of popular music with both independent and major-label artists. He also composes and produces original instrumental music under his own name.
Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lettieri came to Texas via Texas Christian University (TCU), studying advertising and public relations, and competing in track and field. A passionate guitarist since middle school, he began his music career in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area upon graduating from TCU.
Playing in the vibrant Metroplex gospel and R&B scene led Lettieri to join jazz/world group Snarky Puppy in 2008, where he contributes as guitarist, as well as arranger and composer. The group has earned three GRAMMY Awards: Best R&B Performance ("Something" feat. Lalah Hathaway in 2014), and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album (Sylva in 2016, and Culcha Vulcha in 2017). Snarky Puppy tours constantly, having performed on every continent except Antarctica.
Aside from the Pups, Lettieri has spent time on the road with neo-soul icon Erykah Badu, gospel singer/actress Tamela Mann, and American Idol: Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips. He's also performed with a myriad of other artists, including Anthony Evans, Chrisette Michele, Myron Butler, N'dambi, Bilal, and even Pat Boone.

I don't know is it make a lot of additional work but I think it would level up this show if guest will record entire interview on mic and then send rec to you. Even same pc mic will works fine. Anyway Thanks a lot for these guests. Waiting for Victor Wooten sounding off. Cheers from France (originally I'm from Kazakhstan)

Rick, you should bring John Davis, the bass player of nerve (Jojo Mayer's band). he makes really crazy stuff on bass, but he is also owner of The bunker studio, and i think like all the new york jazz cats have recorded there, Donny Mccaslin (another person you should bring, he and his band played in the last david bowie album).
I could say a million people for you to bring, but there's almost no interviews with john and i think he knows a lot.
Thanks for all of this, i'm from Uruguay and if it wasn't for this and some other channels, we could never get this insights. So REALLY thanks!!

    • @FernandoCuadro

I know!! but there's plenty of interviews with jojo (not that i dont want another), it's just that john seems overlooked, and he seems to know a lot.

Great Video! Would like to see you get Steve Morse if you could. Not because of a complex harmonic vocabulary, but because of his unique approach to playing riffs that just don't seem playable on guitar with strict alternate picking, yet he does it. Almost in a class of his own with alternate picking.
