The scene where Baltar said.. “I know about Farming”…and his breakdown from the flood of emotions from the realization of shame for how he treated his father who gave him the greatest gift of knowing how to survive off the land/no technology was awesome.
I think it was more about the fact that he finally had to come to terms with being just a farmer. He was no longer going to be Gaius Baltar The Great Genius. Just a farmer.
Baltar becoming a farmer is literally the beginning of civilization - discovering agriculture and transition from being hunter- gatherers.
@@chernobyl68 All evidence points to farming beginning around 10 or 11000 years ago.
I loved that realization of Baltar's. I had an anti-cry drink alert of my own at that point....! Thought it was a lovely touch and perfectly played by James Callis.
I always looked at it as his rejection of his father’s simple, poor life…his pride and arrogance directly lead to the holocaust of the human race and everything that followed. The weight of that must have been unbelievable
Every time I see the old girl breaking her back after her last jump it breaks my heart! I do believe that she was the promised leader that would take her people’s to earth. RIP Galactica!
I still think that's Roslin- sure, you can make an argument that they were both dying, but the Bucket wasn't too much of a leader.
Never thought about it that way but I agree Roslyn making it to earth never really fit the prophecy
@@Sephiroth144 I know the writers meant Roslin and her death is heartbreaking, but for some reason seeing the old girl buckling like she did on her last jump made me feel a lot more!
@@shazamice I mean, it'd be like Moses, who wasn't supposed to make it to the Promised Land; would it be much different if he made it 50 feet over the border before dropping dead? Functionally, if not literally, didn't make it to the Promised Land. Kinda the same thing with Roslin- she made it to Ee-Arth, but didn't really get to enjoy it. (Like, she died two, three days after reaching E2?)
@@Sephiroth144 nobody really know if moses stepped foot into the promise land it's more quoted that he died before and his bodies was carried the rest of the way. The prophecy did not they will not enjoy it says they will not enter.
Starbuck’s goodbye to Anders, got me the most emotional. Anders saying “I’ll see you on the other side.” hit real hard. So glad to have watched you enjoy the series, Mr. & Mrs. Movies. Thank you for your reactions.
Out of all the Cylons the way Anders goes out was pretty sad.
May I also add... RIP Richard Hatch! I'm so immensely grateful that he had a part to play in this version of BSG.
The opening lines to the original Battlestar Galactica: "There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. They may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive far, far away, amongst the stars."
The opening of the old series is epic. 😊
"Life here began out there." These are the first words of the Sacred Scrolls…
My mind read that with Patrick Macnee's voice...
Zac's death at the start of the old series is what really got me bought into the whole journey.
🎉
Laura's death was always the part that broke me. She was literally humanity's first Moses. She led the people to the Promised Land but didn't really get to enter it.
Perhaps she was more like franklin roosevelt. he died knowing the allies were finally crushing germany and italy. i think germany surrendered weeks after he died, april 1945. on his death bed he knew hitler would be defeated and entrusted harry truman with the final ending of the war. in her last moments, roslyn saw the people as safe as they could be in the home they had dreamed of with a chance to live again....
With respect, she was not like Franklin Roosevelt@@zigguratofur7298
AFAIK you were the first reactors to finish the series and upload it on RUclips. Many thanks for the journey!
No other BSG reactions are comparable to this channels.
I'm actually noticing alot of reaction channels are starting to do bsg now.
@@coyotech I was gunna say the same, not sure why but I am happy for it!
NBC Universal has been very aggressive taking down reacts (using bots/AI) until there has been an established "fair use" protocol
I loved the ending. It was bittersweet, just as most of the show was, so it was completely keeping in the emotional aesthetic of the series. The showrunner, Ronald D. Moore, deserves a sh*t-ton of praise for keeping the story on an even keel. And - my gods - Bear McCreary's musical score was breathtaking.
The last thing Adama said to Starbuck was the very first thing he said to her in the mini-series. It doesn't mean anything, they just made it up as an inside joke between them to show their father/daughter relationship went beyond commanding officer and pilot.
Hoshi was actually a member of Caine's command on Pegasus. I "think" he had the same job as Dee; then after her suicide he took over on Galactica. I seem to recall he was also the Ex-O for a very small period. But that could be wrong.
Louis Hoshi had more character development in the Webisodes ... unexpected relationships.
@patrickcromwell7554, Hoshi was actually assigned to be Admiral during Adama's relatively brief absence.
I knew the anti-cry drinks weren’t gonna cut it this time lol
She needs to just show emotions FFS. That's why we're here.
@@patsk8872 I can't agree with you, to be honest. We react how we react.
@@Brewza50 She's already unemotional. But then on top of that she's choosing to show even less emotion than she naturally would. That's a conscious choice and I think a detrimental one.
@@patsk8872 you’re a judgmental little chunt and should probably not watch their reactions if you don’t like the way they show emotions.
@@patsk8872 I think she has a phobia about. In an earlier episode she exclaimed "I wasn't crying!"
Farmer background + headstrong + stoic husband = not wanting to cry
The Expanse has to be next. Another epic sci-fi series
Oh yes , i was just thinking the same. If they enjoyed BSG they will love the Expanse 👍
Right here with both of you. Those are my top 2 sci fi shows. I think they are about equal for their times in terms of best sci fi shows ever.
The Expanse is an amazing show that more people need to watch.
Yes but they need to go into it with very different mindset and not relate it to Battlestar or Firefly.
@@HalkerVeil True but I think the first couple of episodes make that clear enough
I was always under the impression that where Tyrol / Galen went geographically - he became the progenitor or the Irish / Scottish / Gaelic people. He does know how to make a mean moonshine.
The Old Girl literally broke her back to save her Crew one last time. That will always resonate with me. True love expressed by a so called inanimate object!
Yes, there actually is a moving company among the fleet, Colonial Movers. One of their ships is seen in the original show as well as this one. You can recognize it by the shipping containers attached to its body and the words "Colonial Movers" written on the nose of the ship.
Some people hated that series finale back then for being too metaphysical/philosophical but I loved it.
And I love it even more today, aged like fine wine.
Good news! It has been reevaluated and much like the Sopranos it is now considers one of the best tv endings with an ambiguous edge that will be confirmed if the new series takes of.
Still could do without the last three minutes, but its less irritating now than when it first aired
It’s my favorite series finale of all time!
Perfect ending!
Only two things still bother me after a lot of re-evaluation, and I love this show:
* It still seems stupid to send all your hope for medical support and other help into the sun
* Okay fine I'm sure Adama wants to be alone but he also probably really wanted to see Lee, and Lee to see his Dad, so hard to believe they'd both just go on without each other
Other than that: perfect.
One really overlooked thing was how good the music was in Battlestar Galactica.
Try listening to A Good Lighter or Admiral and Commander. Rosalin and Adama conveys longing, wisdom and experience in a mature love.
I still listen to the soundtrack while I work. Bear McCreary really did a fantastic job.
I'm surprised they cut the part about Starbuck never wanting to be forgotten and we are SURROUNDED by Starbucks! That just made me laugh so hysterically when this ep finally aired.
The scene with the President thanking the Doc gets me in the feels...he literally is too choked up to say anything but to smoke a cig and walk away grumbling.... he cares about his patients especially the Prez💚
U missed the moment with baltar crying at the end thinking of his dad, that really touched me
One of the bitter - sweet bit of this it the Gaius - Caprica 6 flash back. He's going to show her the defence grid and says 'the things men do for love', Caprica is taken aback and shocked, Gaius looks panicked and hurt that she doesn't reciprocate, and deflects by saying 'well, you know what I mean' allowing 6 to relax back into seeing humans as an absolute enemy. I wonder if he hadn't flinched away from telling her he loved her whether the war would ever have happened. That could have been the moment the cycle broke.
Hoshi has been around since the Pegasus. He was their version of Gaeta.
He was the guy who Gaeta asked the important questions: "You got any porn?"
My favorite series finale of all time! I’m getting teary eyed just knowing what we’re about to watch together! ❤️
I love that Mrs guessed Kara was a solid ghost a looong time ago lmao nailed it
Cool name!
Thank you for watching BSG! It has been great sort of rewatching the show with you guys!
I LOVE this show. One aspect I really liked was that most humans were polytheistic and that they believed that the gods lived with them on Kobol and were less "creator" gods and more "personal" gods, and the cylon race was monotheistic because they were literally creations and had a one single creator god.
Laura’s death, her grip slowly slipping away as she finally dies, looking at the lovely, beautiful life of Earth… knowing she did what she could… god I get choked up just typing this. She wasn’t my favorite character, but god did her death hit me like a semi. Baltar too, his comment on knowing farming, followed by his breakdown… they packed so many emotions into this ending.
Can we please take a moment to honor Racetrack? When she went in weapons hot, she became the most important military figure in human history.
Battlestar Galactica was y far one of my all time favorite TV shows. I am THRILLED that I got to see you guys react to it.
Thanks for watching this show. It seems like it's a bigger deal to people who make sci-fi, than the general public who watch sci fi. I wish more reactors watched this, so more people would hear about it, and see it.
i always recommend this show for ppl who say that they are not into sci-fi but would like to see something if it would be "more grounded"
Quite a few RUclips channels have tried, but BSG reactions are extra notorious for being yanked due to copyright claims. It’s a damn shame and a little surprising to me. Back in the day, I had a business blending perfumes/colognes based on characters, places, etc. from my favorite fandoms, and BSG was one of the few that never sent me a C&D or anything like that.
@@falsenostalgia-shannon Well, that's too bad. Reaction videos are like free grass roots advertising. It's on Peacock, I think. They could use free advertising.
One thing that intrigues me is the idea that is approached in this show quite a few times: All this has happened before: it will happen again. The Gaius and Six "angels" make it seem like this entire war was something that has happened many times and Even Anders mentioned something similar when he said that Tyrol saw a "woman" and Tori saw a "man", all leading to a conclusion that someone or some-THING. is observing everything happening in the Galaxy. That perhaps in the infinite cosmos this exact same thing is happening again and/or has already happened in another Galaxy.
They were called the Seraph's, in the old series they had a fly city ship. They would appear out of nowhere and recover humans that were on the brink of death to add them to Their temple. On Rare occasions they would get a living human to assist in preventing mass deaths or a large event. In the Old series you would hear a deafening sound as they would approach you, knocking you out. The deafening sound is believed to be the sound they make exiting their realm to ours. They would give chase to your ship, while the sound gets louder as your in their presence .Causing any lifeform to be knocked out, for easy taking. They seem to only show up during events of death or near. They have been known to give information to avoid or prevent certain events from happening. which does mean they have seen events happen before.
Baltar and Six in the new series would be the same metaphysical entity's, without the dead sounds from entering. Starbuck would have been one that was taken by them to serve, she would be dead in order for this event to happen. The Live Baltar, is being given information in the new series by one of the Seraph's. This is to allow a certain path of events to unfold. The Male Starbuck in the old show, called it the Ship of Lights
I believe it's part of the Fermi Paradox. Cultures that are advanced enough to expand into space tend to destroy themselves.
The "angels" (If you don't want a religious explanation) are part of one that did make it to a higher level. The colonies are descendants of those that just barely made it out before blowing themselves up on the original "Earth".
The higher species has seen this repeat over and over. They are watching it happen again.
@@christopherconard2831 This show calls them angels. but there real name is the Seraph's. The Seraph spacecraft was very creepy and frightening when it gave chase to those it wanted. The person involved, would normally not remember their encounter. Unless tasked as a living event to ensure a certain outcome. I understand where the new show got it's ideal from, and took it 1 step further with using God. I don't believe in the old Tv series the Seraph's talked about god. They just presented themselves as celestial beings, and seemed to know what was to come.
When i saw this new version of BattleStar i thought they did a good job. I first realized they changed Starbuck and then had the actor of Apollo on lol. When they started into the Angel bit, the Seraph Celestial was my first thought. then of course they changed it a bit as the show went on :) I still think the The city of lights was a more creepy way to introduce beings like this.
The part where Adama takes one last fly by the Galactica gets me every time, it's been so much fun to watch this incredible TV series with you guys.
BSG was a huge HUGE part of my life when it was out, it's definitely in my top 10 shows of all time as well. Glad you guys enjoyed it. :)
I think it's kinda fitting that Sam went from one form of entertainer to another. Frist he was a musician, then an athlete.
The Epanse and Babylon 5, Firefly, Space Above & Beyond!
Space Above and Beyond! I loved that show!!
I really didn't want to watch that final BSG reaction of yours because I didn't want it to end. But here we are. Thank you guys for picking this fantastic series and letting us take part in witnessing your reactions to this. Those anti-cry drinks were certainly much needed for the finale!
BSG is one of my absolute favorite shows and I almost never watch anything on TV. It's been a treat revisiting it here every week; I've caught every video because I enjoy watching people enjoy BSG as much as I did. Thanks for letting us watch along with you! But wait-- one more week left, right?😘
So, my question is: is Hera projecting the image of the Opera House?? If everyone else sees it that way, maybe her Hybrid Cylon/Human brain can show BOTH species what she wants them to see.
So glad I got to watch this with you. If you're looking for another sci fi show, I would recommend The Expanse.
I like The Expanse but it can get a little slow at times and too political (something I noticed Mrs. Movies does not like) and the plot can get very complicated for its own good. It's a good watch but I don't think it would make good reaction material though.
Also, I get absurdly attached to hero ships in sci fi shows, and I have always loved the Galactica, in this series and the old one. I'm not ashamed to say I cried when they announced that "she broke her back."
after "the Plan", you might want to consider "Blood and Chrome" its actually a standalone from when Adama joined.
I second this. Blood and Chrome was actually really good!
Mr and Mrs movie, thank you for the amazing journey with BSG, I'm thrilled to hear its one of your favorite shows. I've watched each week without fail like with some of your fellow viewers and truly loved it, the show really takes us on a roller-coaster of emotions. Not afraid to say, I cried so much when BSG ended because it was such a beautiful ending. I'm going to miss BSG Wednesdays so much. Mrs movies your drums were awesome, Mr movies your 'flying out of space' was hilarious. Love it. SO SAY WE ALL
all this has happened before, let's hope it will happen again -- with the expanse perhaps :D
The one time I was late. I hope you guys liked it! My take is Kara was an angel and needed to bring them to their end....earth. Alot od people didn't like it but I loved it. History doesn't have to repeat itself. Love you guys!
Really apreciate being able to watch it once again with you. I have been an avid enjoyer of sci-fi since childhood, but this is still my favourite SF show of all time, even though its coming up to 20 years since it first aired.
I am even more convinced now that Daniel (model 7) was in fact Kara`s father. I have read that the showrunners disproved but I cant help it, the shit just adds up. Him being described as an artistic person, the fact that Kara's dad inexplicably disapeared when she was young, right around the time his line was terminated by Cavil, all the talk about her being so special would be much more sensible if she indeed was the first human-cylon baby.
One of the few things of entertainment that can make me cry, and this episode does it in spades.
All these years, and BSG remains my favorite show of all time.
It was for me too. It was all Lost wasn't. For your pleasure I suggest you to watch Attack on Titan
for me as well -- i like what the expanse did and it feels to me like BSG made it possible
I was so happy to see that you was brave enough to cry. I was the same in my mid 30's.... but it took me a bit longer just to be myself and relax. A lot of people got pissy about the ending but I was very much like you both... seen it as a fitting end. Thanks for spending the time to watch this amazing show, I wish you and your family all the best in the fufture.
Thank you so much for reacting to BSG. Watching as it aired is one of my fondest viewing memories. I didn't fall as deeply in love with another science fiction show until The Expanse and now, amazingly, Andor has found an equally special place in my heart. We're all better for having such an embarrassment of riches.
Whoa, those are 3 of my favorite shows of all time… your comment could have been written by me, word for word! 👍
so many great moments in the finally but I got the most emotional at Roslins death, you know it's coming, I thought I was prepared, but it absolutely destroyed me, cried like a baby lol I do want to mention though, back right before the mid season finally when Roslin is getting her visions, she sees her death. it wasn't in the med bay, but in a raptor but everything else plays out pretty much the same, all the same people there, and Adama giving her his ring, great stuff ♡
This is one of my husband and I favorite series. We also loved "Eureka" as well from the original SIFI channel. If you've never seen that, it is a fun show to watch. See you on the next series you pick💕
Thank you for letting us follow you on this journey. Great Sci Fi is always more emotional storytelling than regular fiction.
Now you have to finish with Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. An entire movie that shows the Cylon perspective.
It also clears up various plot holes across all four seasons in a meaningful way. Which is great.
Did you guys even think about watching the original Battlestar Galactica from 79-80? The first season was not as good as this but it had its moments. It was a Sunday night kid show at that time. They brought it back for a second and trashed it. Man, it had Richard hatch, Lorne Greene and Jane Seymour in it. You can see the parts they borrowed to make this show too.
Thanks for watching it. It's been a steady I look forward to every week. I've watched the show probably 5 times.
The audience reaction to the finale was a little mixed at the time, but I loved it. It was really fun watching you guys react and embrace the many layers of metaphorical and philosophical thinking at play. Most of the detractors had issues with the angelic elements, but it really does work. This is one of my all time favorite series as well and I watch it every couple years.
I think I loved the show because at the start im kinda rolling my eyes at the "destiny" stuff. Then as it goes on you know its all true. One big cosmic cycle of life.
I also shed a tear for the galactica ship herself. Went through so much and took them to Earth
I always loved the ending. I watched as it aired back in the day, so it was a long road. Thanks for watching it. I'm sure a lot of new fans were made from these reactions.
Thank you both, and your guest stars, for a wonderful journey down memory lane (but with fresh company).
I honestly thought Adama & Roslin's parting would finally get those flowing but it came damn close. Mary McDonnell and Edward James Olmos were perfect throughout the series. They displayed such intimacy (as in familiarity) well beyond the spoken dialogue. One of the best romantic couples in television history, IMO.
I love the space zoomy pew-pew-pew. I love the philosophical exploration. I love Bear McCreary's magnum opus score. And I love the Galactica itself, that dauntless warrior.
...but I could rewatch this series over and over for the Admiral and the President. In the end, they were veterans, colleagues, sparring partners, lovers, and dear friends.
To me, they are the backbone of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. And I will, for the rest of my life, cherish having known these characters.
Perfectly said. I also thought Adama and Roslin (and their respective actors) were the two pillars that carried the show, both as individual characters and as a duo. Even when things, at times, got a little too scifi-ish/wacky for my taste during the last season, these two kept everything around them real and grounded, and, even though there are many other great characters and actors on the show, I don't think BSG would have been as successful without them. Their dynamic had so many layers to it and their story ended up being absolutely beautiful.
25:23 they had inhibitors and when they were removed and finally were able to process like the rest, they made a decision.
Amazing. I'm 52 years old now and an avid consumer of SciFi, in all media. I have to say, this is the best SciFi tv show of all time.
Glad you both enjoyed watching Battlestar so much. I’d recommend watching the 3 portlandia battlestar sketches on RUclips now you’ve finished the series. I think you’d enjoy them as they get more ridiculous as they go on. 🙂
The Portlandia sketches were hilarious! Mostly because I was just as obsessive as they were. :)
I enjoyed watching this show again with you guys, thank you! For me the bits that stayed with me the first time I watched were the New Caprica Insurrection arc, Dee's suicide and the season ending cliff hanger when they find the first Earth and it's just a radioactive wasteland then fading to black. The space battles are still some of the best on TV even after 20 years too. Looking forward to your next foray into SciFi!
The nuked Earth was such a bleak episode. Do you know it was intended to be a possible ending for BSG, should the writers strike go on ?
@@stephanenguyen8786 I thought it was the ending when no more episodes came after. I was strangely content with it.
@@phil8821 As en ending, it would be so depressing ... I would have been devastated if it had concluded this way.
I remember letting out a "Whoop!" when I saw Galactica pass over the Moon. "They did it!"
That was so much fun revisiting these shows with you. Here is one show to match Battlestar Galactica in its epic and fitting ending: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I promise you will enjoy that journey as well.
I thought Season 3 really wandered off course a lot but seeing the Battlestar dropping like a stone into the colony with vipers spewing out in plumes of fire was awesome and then Lee riding to the rescue at the end.
I think Dee's death hit me the hardest though.
I wish the spin-off series, Caprica had more than one season. Such a great series
"Find a perfect world for the end of Kara Thrace" - hot diggity foreshadowing damn! Also the end scene with Baltar where he sort of breaks down and says he knows about farming, he came full cycle - from farm boy, to educated cultured scientist, back to being a farmer. The feels... and the feels of Galactica breaking her back. The dying leader, after all.
Thanks so much, It may not matter but I so appreciate that you guys ultimately loved the show -- I had my doubts -- and that you consider it one of the greatest SF shows in history. It is.
Even though it was only 1 season, you should also watch Caprica.
The man playing Major Sherman "Doc" Cottle, Donnelly Rhodes, is beloved here in Canada.
Oh and yeah I did cry during Roslin said goodbye to him. Gets me every time :)
Oh and the "place they're in" is the Orphium theatre here in Vancouver.
I thought the ending was OK upto the Baltar, Caprica walking commentary. Next The Expanse, Babylon 5, or Farscape.
Useless trivia. Babylon 5 premiered 30 years ago today.
I'm glad you both enjoyed the series and found the ending satisfying. It is absolutely my favorite sci-fi show & I'm glad the Mrs. felt the same in the end. ❤️
I’ve been nervous for this, because I’ve enjoyed watching your Battlestar vids - I don’t want it to end! :) I love this show so much. I’ve rewatched it every couple years since it ended & it’s one of those rare experiences that somehow gets even better with multiple viewings. It ages extremely well… Anyway, thanks for the great reaction vids! Oh, and I’m sure people have already told you this, but if you’re in the mood for even MORE Battlestar, there was also a spin-off prequel movie called “Blood & Chrome” that features a young Adama (aka “Husker”)… and of course there’s the “Caprica” show, which is nowhere near as good as the main show, but still worth watching.
The scene where Tigh is giving the damage report and says "She's broke her back, she'll never jump again." I know its just a Space ship but that scene causes me to tear up every time.
Nothing but the Rain: The pieces of ships she destroyed banking against her ship sounds like rain. Grab your guns and bring in the cat: Get your ass back to the ship.
I agree, best sci-series hands down for maybe even best series period. I recall the finale had mixed opinions but I absolutely loved it. I thought it was perfect, it hit all the right emotional chords, action, suspense, drama, and tied up enough of the story threads that anything not explicitly spelled out is easy to infer. The last four seasons of Deep Space Nine is the only series that comes close to this one....many of their episodes were written by Ronald D Moore. Btw you guys got a lot of stuff most people miss their first watch like Kara being an angel and the fact this takes place in the distant past.
It's one of my favorite shows ever. It would be on the short-list for "...on a deserted island, pick only 3 tv shows..." kind of thought experiments.
I will always have a huge soft spot for Adama and Rosaline's theme. Makes me misty every time. I love this season finale.
Starbuck is a angel sent by God to help. It is said he goes to Scotland by himself the chief. At the end when they are looking over the guys shoulder to read the paper, that guy is the creator of the show
You know he doesn't like to be called that.
That was an actual magazine article Ron Moore was reading, not a MacGuffin prop!
The guy at the end reading the magazine about mitochondrial Eve that messenger Six and Gaius are looking over is Ronald D Moore, the executive producer of the show.
Thanks for watching all the way through my favourite TV series you two, found your channel just as you started watching it and it's been fun rewatching alongside you.
In my opinion the Adama/Roslyn relationship is the best romance portrayed on TV ever. And Sol Ty is my favourite character, he's rough to start out but his sarcastic humour grows on you.
My other two favourite shows are Vikings (Foxtel) and Legion (Disney+), maybe you'll pick up one of those someday.
Omg I would love for them to react to legion. I constantly ask all the reactors I watch to react to Legion , but so far none have. 8(
This has been really fun. I was a fan of the channel before this, but was thrilled when you guys started on this show. Despite some things that really bothered me about it, it is still probably my most favorite sci-fi show. So well done on so many levels. The only one that comes close is The Sarah Connor Chronicles. If you guys are looking for another sci-fi show, that one is great (although it doesn't have a firm "end" because it got canceled after two seasons before it was finished).
I was always disappointed by the sudden cancellation of the Sarah Connor Chronicles, especially given the fact that it had so much unexplored potential also the casting for its main characters had been perfect in my opinion.
Guys, treat Galactica as a character and Adama’s reluctance makes sense. Galactica is the main character and she was built to save humanity from the cylons to fight them and now to save humanity again she had to become part cylon. It’s a beautiful metaphor and part of why I adore this show so much. The dying leader, wasting disease, won’t live to enter the new home, RING A BELL????
Well big 👍👍👍 to Mrs for interpreting Tyrol snapping as his moment of ultimate humanity, as he was one of the Five identifying as a Cylon the most.
And I‘m also with Mrs in that this is the best scifi show I know, and I‘ve seen more of them.
I‘d also also enjoy Expanse reactions.
I actually love they way they resolved this series. They find the Earth of their legends, the 13th colony, but it is not _our_ Earth as the audience has always believed. When they do get to their final destination, after Galactica has "broken her back" and "will never jump again", the planet they have arrived at _IS_ our Earth. And it's at such a primitive stage it doesn't have a name yet, so they decide to call it "Earth". And the rest is history...OUR history.
Aha, at least, the end of the journey !! Glad that you enjoyed it... I remember not everyone was pleased with this final "Deux ex Machina" FTL jump. As for me, I found it perfectly satisfying, with a destination, a conclusion and the whereabouts of all these lovely characters (as you say, I feared an ending a la LOST).
Had some theories that proved wrong, of the true Kara Thrace not dying in the explosion of her Vyper, and instead getting back to Caprica centuries ago ... becoming the Pythia that tried to warn humanity with her "predictions". Hell, as far as I know, she could also have spread the "frak" profanity into society before its time.
Agreed, one of my favourite sci-fi shows too, the other being Babylon 5 (for entirely different reasons). Alas, it may be a bit hard to get into it right after this.
God, zhe time… where does she go?! It seems like yesterday I was so excited she hinted that they *may* make this the next TV show they were going to watch, and I was losing my mind over it! So glad to have been able to watch it all with you two. The ending montage with real life robots STILL sends a chill up my spine, by the way.
Awesome that you two watched the entire show. I came here the first time for BSG and now I staying for the rest.
The Expanse / Firefly / The Peripheral / Outer Range
^other great sci-fi shows I recommend. BSG will always be my favorite though.
SO SAY WE ALL!
Firefly / Orville / Fringe
@@michelletaylor4916 Yupp Fringe too! Exceptional show. Watched that at the same time i watched Grimm back in the day.
Also Outlander. It is another Roger Moore show.
V: The miniseries
BABYLON 5
I love the sweet, heartfelt relationship between Bill Adama and Kara Thrace.☺💚
Great job Mr and Mrs Movies!!
I don't think there's another sci-fi series this epic besides Battlestar Galactica that touches on the every aspect of humanity this well and giving you such an emotional journey. I place this alongside classics like the original Star Wars saga, Blade Runner and other sci-fi greats out there even though it's a series. Gaius gave one of the best speech to save Hera. Even I can't hold back my tears watching Roslin passed away at the end.
“There is a line...” I love this speech.
Lot of great sci-fi shows out there, but The Expanse is probably the closest to this in tone. And certainly the most realistic and has best production quality. Farscape is another great option. More of a Jim Henson, borderline fantasy at times, but the Mrs. will appreciate the demonstrations of loyalty and character growth, perhaps more than on The Expanse, where the character are more grey. Babylon 5 is great 3rd choice option, if you're patient, and want a five year story, that was planned out long in advance. The best B5 episodes are probably better than the best of all these other shows, but a lot of slow eps too.
Deep space 9 should get a mention in there shouldn't it?
One thing that always gives me goosebumps is that they used the original music when Galactica flew into the sun. In general the soundtrack to this series was fantastic, I listen to certain tracks every now and then because it’s so emotive. This was one of the best TV series I have ever watched, well written, superbly cast and acted.
This is so very existentialist and so veiled but blatant it becomes brilliant. Like a Greek tragedy it make heroes out of villains and villians out of heroes. They played the long game superbly.

I thought the ending was perfect. I loved the happy ending, after all these characters have been put through during the run of the show and there was also the right amount of action, reflection and sadness in this finale. I didn’t need any more death, after all the characters we lost along the way. They are hard to compare, as lenght and tonality are so different, but BSG is my second favorite sci-fi show, the top spot in my heart belonging to Firefly.
Loved re visiting this journey with you, thanks for reacting to it all x
It amuses me so much that they no-scoped the ending back in season 3 - I think during "Torn". They compared it to Star Wars' "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away"
I Loved the end except for the fact that everyone went their own way. I mean yes- spread people out but Apollo and his dad!!! His only living relative??? Why???
Seeing Kara disappear always makes me sad.
I was never a fan of the poof.
