We'll be there first week of January 2024, staying at the Grand one night embarking on a cruise to Sydney. I'm a hockey player but looks like the rink won't be available because of the season. Such a short time in Auckland any suggestions for sightseeing for just one day stay? Would you recommend the Sky Tower? We've been up the CN Tower in Toronto, the sky needle in Seattle, the tower in Niagara Falls to name a few.
Skytower is a nice tourist spot and you'd definitely want a clear day to go up but if you wanna make the visit more exciting you can do a sky jump (controlled bungee off it) and/or a skywalk where you take a walk around the top outside part of it. If you're staying in the grand, you could also check out Weta Workshop Unleashed (it's upstairs of The Grand). Otherwise you can always just go down to the waterfront area and wynyard quarter which is nice to take a stroll around 🙂 Hope you enjoy your time whatever you end up doing!
