I just finished reading it...in one sitting. It was such a great read overall. One of my favourites which was pretty much confirming that Chief viewing the terminals in Halo 3 as canon and kind of explains how he knew of the Mantle in Halo 5.
Great review Halo Canon! :) Small theory: perhaps the Curator is handing its work to Isabel? If I'm not mistaken, she was on the Ark before the SoF arrived. Maybe that's one of the reasons why she wants to leave the Ark so badly (because she wants to get this info to humanity).
Maybe Isabel was able to contact the UNSC SPIRIT OF FIRE or reprogram it so it was on a course for the ark and due to the ark being a unbelievably power station it is this could make it easy for her
Yeah, it's revealed with the Limited and Legendary editions. It's basically an interactive reconstruction of events taken from security footage, helmet cams, and what-not.
Tristan Turne No, it's a new piece of art. John and Johnson are modeled after their H2A appearances, but it's entirely new. Notably, the back of John's hand armor is as it appears in Halo 3, rather than H2 or H2A
I love how this almost seamlessly blends into Halo's lore, it is canonized as a retelling of events, and is amazing at doing just that. I am eager to get it when chance pertains and add it to the collection. Some of those art pieces are just breath-taking, the Dreadnaught against the Sangheili, the Chief, Arbiter and etc. on Installation 04 (B) is just so nice. A wonderful blend of nostalgia and some meaningful additions to the canon is always welcome!
I have to wonder if the Domain can give AIs a near infinite data storage removing the threat of rampancy "Thinking themselves to death" does that mean that those AI's that joined cortana are now permanently tied to the domain and if the domain were to close again they would be lost or trapped within it?
Maybe the "you" that CURATOR is referring to when saying "I leave it with you" is Isabel.. It would make sense since both of the AI are on The Ark. I would imagine they would have some sort of contact with one another... It would give the writers a good Canonical excuse for Isabel to get the Spirit's crew caught up on all the events they've missed.
couple questions: 1. what has it said about the timeline of Reach and Fall of Reach? 2. if Curator is on the Rubicon where is guilty spark and how has it avoided the Ark's monitor?
1. Nothing more than we've already heard (if you've read Halsey's Journal and the data drops from 5 years ago), but in short, it does confirm that both are canon. 2. Curator was an AI that was assigned to the Rubicon, but at the time of making this record, he is trapped in the Ark's systems. How it avoided Tragic Solitude is unknown, but maybe Solitude is why Curator is trapped in the first place.
I'm quite happy with the book but I do wish the talked about Hunt the Truth and some other arcs from Escalation. I also wished it talked more about the Fall of Reach and Halo:Reach, but I'm quite happy with the book
Hello halo canon, I have had an lingering idea for a video for quite some time now. How about you make an video about the artificial intelligences of halo universe. How they affected the universe in general, the roles they played, key AI characters. You can add the new Ai and I also think it falls in line perfectly with the new created storyline. Just an idea. Love your work
I was surprised at how long the Interplanetary War went on for. I figured it was UNSC vs. the other two but it was actualy Kolsivoks and Frediens fighting each other most of the time.
Is there a digital release of it? I really don't want another Art of Halo 3 situation where it's impossible to find copies in a few months. Really wish 343 would go back and re-release all the artbooks and comics digitallty.
I was disappointed they didn't include the Ussans of the Refuge or really anything else regarding ancient Sanghelios. Still, that doesn't make this book any less amazing. Mythos is by far the best thing 343 Industries has put out. Can't wait for Halo: Fractures.
Thanks for adding a "skip spoilers" option. I have several of the books to read (I own them, just haven't read them). That was a nice little feature. Great video =)
It's something I was criticized for early on, rightly so, so I always try to give spoiler warnings on "recent" content, or spoilers in whatever I'm reviewing.
Halo Canon And I appreciate it. I have New Blood and Last Light to read, so it was good of you to add a spoilers warning. Glad you took the criticism , as it's made your content better.
I agree with you're review! I enjoyed the whole read when I read it. so much info and that carrot leading into Halo wars 2. Hopefully come late November and later December we'll get more HW news.
True. Shows how shitty 343 can be when it comes to adapting original armors into the game. Master chief's armor and Red Team armor. Nobles team was good.
AlphaEon900 Mark VI armor looks IMO mostly correct, it lays and flows properly. The lines of the Mark VI just don't. Looks like someone adapted a motorcycle helmet and tacked a few plates onto the under-layer.
The problem with its depiction in halo 5 is that the proportions are just off. The Spartan IVs are just alot less muscular (ie massive) in their Halo 5 depictions than the Spartan IIs in their Halo Wars depiction. The Mark IV armor looks badass in halo wars, but just looks off in Halo 5.
Alpha, they did okay when they translated the Reach armor into Halo 5. The Reach armor looks 1000 times better in Halo Reach though. Part of the problem is 343 is making the Spartans too sparkly clean, almost too sanitized, too sterile. Also 343 fucked up big time when it came to bringing Noble 6's armor into Halo 5.
So, the Created has drawn the ire of the originals, the beings that existed before existence, or at least the last known remnant of their power.......... or is it really the last? Perhaps the Ur-Didact's role has now become, instead of the overarching villain, the catalyst behind an even greater catastrophe. No, not the Created. He initiated the beginning of the Created, who will be the ones to draw the attention of the greatest threat ever faced by Humanity........... *The Precursors....... have returned.*
im sure the books said they preferred humanity to the forerunners before they hated everything. either way i want to see them in a game; enemy or not. as long as the storyline is more coherent than 5's. maybe even just in terminals.
Interesting theory, however I don't think the Precursors would return. They have been pretty much wiped out by the time of the Fall of the Forerunners, the Primordial being the last one. Although the Primordial's physical body was killed by the Ur-didact, it was later revealed that the Primordial's consciousness survived and took refuge in the Flood's mind, which makes the possibility of the Primordial coming back, but not all of the Precursors.
The only major gripe i have with Mythos is that there is ZERO mention of Gray Team. Not even a mention of the events of Cole Protocol, let alone some hint of what they've been up to since. Other than that, I loved it.
Haha, once this dumb created story is over, I'll just look at it as "that weird point where halo's storytelling was creatively bankrupt" Hopefully the Evil Robot takeover will be resolved and forgotten quickly
I was on the fence on this- I havent bought a Halo art book/guidebook since Halo 3's I believe (The encyclopedia? I forget what it was called...I'm sure you know). You've helped me make my choice; my love of Halo has only been reignited with Fleet Battles and Ground Command; and though H5 wasnt quite as amazing as many would hope I still really dig all that was put into it and its a worthy title in my eyes. I do hope this book holds a lot of information on the Sangheili and pre-covenant faction histories. The art alone as you said looks to be worth the price of admission.
The books doesn't have a whole lot on the Sangheili and pre-Covie stuff, outside of some beautiful depictions of those early years. Still, there's a ton of awesome content for the book's size.
There's a list included with the Halo Reach limited and legendary editions that mention the Halo Reach game is, in-universe, an interactive record of the final days of Reach and the actions of Noble Team.
KaosDarkFire I don't think there's an established explanation for that, but perhaps it's because they had no records of his armor configuration? Kat does mention that most of his record is covered in black ink.
Cortana is going to wake an ancient evil that we have long missed...with Created allowed to spread through doors once locked...I feel they will stumble across Graveminds and bring that back to the populated Galaxy...
The Series X was my first Xbox console and I've played the entire Master Chief Collection, including Halo 5. And despite falling in love with that universe, I must say I'm completely lost in regards to the lore. I could barely understand what happened on all those games. Will this book help me make sense of everything that happens in the games? Will it help me understand the lore? I never read any of the other books, they are pretty hard to fimd where I live.
Toa Freak, did you watch HiddenXperia's video about the Curator's monologue in Mythos and what it may mean for the future of the lore? Also, I was on the fence about Mythos at first because I already played all of the games and read all of the books up to the release of Halo 5, but it sounds like there are nice extras in it so I may go and buy it.
I have not, but from what I've heard, he thought the "shadow of a threat" line I mention here was referring to the Flood, while it was intended to refer to the Banished. But yes, Mythos has a ton of awesome extra, so many I didn't mention because this video would get way too long.
Yeah, he really wants the Flood to return, and considering how much more depth they received in the Forerunner novels, I wouldn't mind it either, but I've heard that 343i is dead against bringing them back in any meaningful way.
I didn't hear anything official about that so please don't quote me on it, and like you I hope it's not true and we can see the Flood when they're truly at their most terrifying.
Has ANYONE solved the POS/NAV codes riddle yet? It's at the front and back of the book, seems to show seven coordinates, maybe in a 2D map layout. See reddit also.
It's weird how they explain it, but they do connect it. Halo Reach (the game that is) is telling the story from the perspective of Noble Team from the planet of Reach, but the Fall of Reach tells the story before the events of the Covenant Invasion and during/right after the events of Halo Reach, from space.
So, if Cortana can't use the Ark/ get to it, could the UNSC use it as some kind of base, and maybe even use the Retriever Sentinels as a new Unit of some sorts?
Did anybody remember the last page of the book were they tease/reference the Spirit of Fire arriving at the lesser Ark and how there are enemies (the covenant being mentioned) lurking on the Ark surface? What enemy do you think they are referring too? It can't be the flood because the flood are not located on the lesser Ark. And with regard to the Halo 5 legendary ending, there are still 3 halo rings left to be discovered. Any thoughts?
The only thing that I'm disappointed about is that they didn't showcase much precursor tech in the art. The star roads ripping apart the ark is amazing but I thought it be a grayish black color other than this bluish white. They also missed the opportunity to show off the orbital arches and the human cities on them. That would have been amazing art. Other than that everything is pretty damn good.
To be fair, trying to depict those in any reasonable manner may be an order too tall for anyone. Greg Bear's descriptions are fairly hard to imagine. But, I would love to see 343 give a go in the future.
Dear Mr. Halo Canon guy. Are you going to do a review for Halo Fractures in the near future? I just got the audiobook last night and I finished the first story.
Good and somewhat equal to the 2011 encyclopedia, but unfortunately, the bits of H5: Guardians really just bug me a lot, especially if they're not even explored in that game at all. Would have ranked higher had this not been the case, but then again, it's that deceitful game's fault, not the book's. Wonder if the Halo Encyclopedia, 2022 edition, surpasses both nowadays?
I've always been wondering, are the ODSTs still active? We just don't see them anymore, and instead, the ODST armor has been replaced by that awful looking nightfall armor. At the least, I wish that an ODST variant armor would be made canon for the Mjolnir Gen.2
ODSTs are still around, yes. There are some missions better suited for ODSTs than Spartans. And there are two ODST Mjolnir variants: there's the straight-up ODST armor from Halo 4, and then the Helljumper armor Buck uses in Halo 5.
Lordy loo, if 343i is going so far as to revamping the original Forerunner/Early Human/Flood lore prior to the original trilogy, then maybe they have plans to make it more relevant in the upcoming games...
the reason we haven't seen the flood in a while because humanity and covenant been taking precautions not release them. The flood in the original games came out on accident.
Elijah Watson That's the "lore" reason. Something that can be fabricated and flexed at the whim of the developers. Just look at what happened to Halo 5's story during development. My point is that many people like me have been suspecting that the Flood didn't return in Halo 5 (and possibly won't show up in Halo 6) because they represent the grittier side of Halo, something that actually makes the game worthy of an M rating. Yet with Halo 5, we see Prometheans (shiny space robots) and a T rating being sold to us. So it doesn't seem like it's much of a long-shot to believe that 343i is trying to push the Prometheans to fill the gap the Flood left and sell more games since people ages 13-17 can get Halo now.
I have a real quick questions for you Holo Canon. In the one of the Halo Reach trailers, A Spartan Will Rise, Dr. Holzy states that Noble Six is "hyper lethal" and that "there's only one other spartan with that rating". For a long time I thought she was referring to John but recently I've come to believe that she is referring to Linda, if I'm wrong could you tell me who she is referring to. Thanks
It was meant to be a reference to John, but overall the whole "hyper-lethal vector" is considered dubious canon by the lore community, especially now under 343.
I wonder if the "recompiled minds of the Created" may actually refer to the fact that Human AI are a recreation of a Human brain? Perhaps Human AI are flawed in the fact that they are based on living beings. Perhaps the Forerunner incompatibility with the Composer suggests a flaw or incompatibility of something such as the Domain and organics, of which the Created are based upon.
Are all the Halo books that have been released to date worth reading compared to just reading Mythos and if so what would be the recommended order? If not then would Mythos be all I would need to get a more deeper understanding of Halo history?
Mythos gives you the surface level story, but the books will give you the nitty-gritty details. Mythos skips over a number of details and characters for the sake of simplifying Halo's mythos (no pun intended) thus far.
It's mentioned in one of the "extras" included with the Halo Reach limited and Legendary editions. It refers to Reach as an interactive record of the events leading up to the final fall of Reach and the actions of Noble Team in that time.
so does the UNSC know Curator is on the ark ? they have had research teams there so they would of found Curator. Curator would have come out and talked to them?. also one thing i realized is the Spartans on the Spirit Of Fire will still have the bodies of a 21 year old physically, because they have been in cryo, meaning they are still very young compared to other Spartans, so they might even be physically better, we might still be seeing them even when Blue Team die of old age or something.
what do you think about the Spartans on Spirit of Fire having the bodies of 21 year olds and being physically better then other Spartans? they are younger and probably a little better, We may even see them still fighting battles with Spartans such as Chief decide to stop or die.
you mention the Primordial being a creation of the precursors and so on. i do not think it was a creation i fully think it is the last precursor. it says in the book and i quote " What the humans did not know was that the Primordial was, in fact, the last of the Precursors, evolved and mutated in order to survive the vast passage of time-and to exact vengeance on those who had destroyed its kind
The Encyclopedia focuses on the lore, too, but it's kind of a mess, visually speaking. It does also deal with game content and is more a reference book than an in-universe summary of events.
So two things can be worth mentioning from this. The so-called interlopers may or may not be the Banished and are described by Curator as a Shadow of a Threat that cannot be seen by Her eyes. I think it's safe to assume the Created and Cortana are not affiliated whatsoever with the Banished. It seems they're both entirely two different factions with their own agendas. However, if we assume the Shadow is not the Banished, it could be something more sinister and "gravely" dangerous. #HopingIt'sFlood And two: I know you mentioned this in an earlier video for them to include in Mythos, but is the Reach timeline finally settled for dispute? Did they finally piece everything together officially?
The "shadow of a threat" is definitely meant to refer to the Banished. It could have a double mean, also referring to the Flood, but Mythos is meant to leave the reader on the doorstep to Halo Wars 2. The subject of Reach isn't really addressed any more than it already has been (if you've read Halsey's journal and the data drops from 5 years ago), however it does acknowledge the canonocity of both sources and does help the more casual fan understand that Halo Reach and Halo: The Fall of Reach are both canon sources.
Technically speaking, the books doesn't do anything all that new regarding the relationship between Halo Reach and Halo: The Fall of Reach, though it does, in a much more public sense, confirm that both stories are canon.
+Halo Canon Toa, I feel like I must be out-of-the-loop, but when you mentioned that Halo Reach was an "in-game artifact" and an "interactive record," what do you mean specifically? That the game was essentially a giant flashback from the opening cinematic forward?
Milesamanjaro So, for us, Halo Reach is just a game. In-universe, it's an interactive record, put together from security and helmet cam footage, that retells the fall of Reach and the actions of Noble Team. It's similar to how Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike are, in-universe, training simulations that Spartan-IVs can "play" on their personal datapads. Does that make sense?
In-universe, it was an interactive record compiled from security and helmet-cam footage. Basically, it was a playable recording. There's a reason the limited edition case was designed to be an ONI black box.
im still a little on the fence. to be honest, im not really that interested in the art. i just sort of wanted an indepth and comprehensive timeline. while i own all the novels im not too savvy to reread them on any sort of basis anf i don't want to constantly reference wikis
For its size, the book is surprisingly in-depth and contains a ton of new details that have never been revealed anywhere else. One I didn't bring up in the video, for example, is a map of our solar system in the 26th century, and what sort of colonies/bases are established on what moons and planets.
Yeah, it's revealed with the Limited and Legendary editions. It's basically an interactive reconstruction of events taken from security footage, helmet cams, and what-not.
Because I thought that there were "dumb" AI that pledged their allegiance to Cortana as well. How widespread are smart AI? I thought they would be a fairly limited and only be used for big research efforts or huge ships and the rest would be just highly advanced "dumb AI". Like Virgil and Curator, they are both dumb AI, right? Virgil, I thought helped you uncover that murder mystery showing a sense of right and wrong, then we have this AI this Curator is talking about resisting Cortana. I said some because I thought that “Dumb AI” are still pretty smart to us, smart enough to talk to at least, and that “smart” AI were just hyper mega smart.
You're using Kamchatka in the background
suh
IM SO GLAD SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME ON THIS
Hey , hi there latenigh :D
I just finished reading it...in one sitting. It was such a great read overall.
One of my favourites which was pretty much confirming that Chief viewing the terminals in Halo 3 as canon and kind of explains how he knew of the Mantle in Halo 5.
Great review Halo Canon! :)
Small theory: perhaps the Curator is handing its work to Isabel? If I'm not mistaken, she was on the Ark before the SoF arrived. Maybe that's one of the reasons why she wants to leave the Ark so badly (because she wants to get this info to humanity).
Maybe. For some reason, that never came to mind.
Maybe Isabel was able to contact the UNSC SPIRIT OF FIRE or reprogram it so it was on a course for the ark and due to the ark being a unbelievably power station it is this could make it easy for her
I was thinking the same thing.
Reach was an interactive record?? WHAT?!
Yeah, it's revealed with the Limited and Legendary editions. It's basically an interactive reconstruction of events taken from security footage, helmet cams, and what-not.
It was a record made by an ONI agent and send to someone else
Halo Canon has sponsors now? Man, it feels like it was just yesterday when I found your posts in /r/HaloStory.
*sniff* They grow up so fast!
7:17 LOGIC PLAGUE. Flood. HiddenXperia in 3...2....1. "What's up guys it's Luc here, back with another Halo flood video. lol
lol
That brief frame shot at 4:30. Kinda getting some Halo 3 anniversary vibes.
A lot of people have. It's just artwork at this point, though.
Isn't it halo 2 anniversary concept art?
Tristan Turne No, it's a new piece of art. John and Johnson are modeled after their H2A appearances, but it's entirely new. Notably, the back of John's hand armor is as it appears in Halo 3, rather than H2 or H2A

What if Curator is talking also to Mendicant Bias? As far as we know he is still on the Ark...
Very well could be.
This book is amazing. Halo lore is fascinating
I have to wonder if the Domain can give AIs a near infinite data storage removing the threat of rampancy "Thinking themselves to death" does that mean that those AI's that joined cortana are now permanently tied to the domain and if the domain were to close again they would be lost or trapped within it?

I love the book, love having the entire Halo mythos summarized in one neat, beautiful package with great art and easy accessibility.
Can't wait to see all the art

i have the book and i agree, the art is fantastic, and the lore accompanying it is very, very interesting

I was really hoping for more small details. those are what I live for
That are quite a few, a surprising amount in fact.
I got this yesterday! Absolutely worth it.

Maybe that last quote references the fortunes precouser war
I'm probably going to pick this up.
The art is amazing.
Forgotten how ugly and mis-shapen the MKIV armor is.
True. Shows how shitty 343 can be when it comes to adapting original armors into the game. Master chief's armor and Red Team armor. Nobles team was good.

thats a pretty cool theory but i cant possibly see how the precursors could be put in the game properly without being relatively nerfed to oblivion
Fuckin Thrash
It doesn't have to be the Precursors directly. It could be Flood, agents of their will, etc.
*****
Oh.......ummm........ that's nice. Excuse me for a sec, whilst I.... uhhh........ yeah........ *runs away screaming incoherently*

It seem ONI may have extremely classified them for now.
That Primordial tho. XD Great video!
Amazon messed up my package....Supposed to arrive friday....Now I have to order it again. :(
Was looking so forward to this book....
This must be one true all around work of art if it can get anyone excited for the rehashed BSG 1979 style Creators vs Created plotline....
Haha, once this dumb created story is over, I'll just look at it as "that weird point where halo's storytelling was creatively bankrupt"
Hopefully the Evil Robot takeover will be resolved and forgotten quickly
LateNightGaming - Halo News & Entertainment Oh I hope so
Awesome review, dude.
Appreciate another video! Keep up the great work!

There's a list included with the Halo Reach limited and legendary editions that mention the Halo Reach game is, in-universe, an interactive record of the final days of Reach and the actions of Noble Team.
+Halo Canon
Could that explain why Noble 6 is customizable in the game?
+Halo Canon
Do you think it's possible that this Interactive Record can be used as War Games Simulations, just as the Battle of New Mombasa was?
***** I don't see why not.
KaosDarkFire I don't think there's an established explanation for that, but perhaps it's because they had no records of his armor configuration? Kat does mention that most of his record is covered in black ink.
This book got me hype as f for Halo Wars 2 :D
I know it's a bit late but I just order two copies of the book, thx for the review and keep up the good work!
I hope we see banished vehicles and weapons in main future halo titles and Flood and brutes Promethean forerunner and coveanut
they said they have plans for the banished after halo wars 2
Cortana is going to wake an ancient evil that we have long missed...with Created allowed to spread through doors once locked...I feel they will stumble across Graveminds and bring that back to the populated Galaxy...
great video!
I'll get it as soon as i finish new blood.
my copy is on its way!!

KaosDarkFire I haven't heard anything like that. I hope it's not true.
I didn't hear anything official about that so please don't quote me on it, and like you I hope it's not true and we can see the Flood when they're truly at their most terrifying.
I wasn't going to get it, I have Fractures and Tales from Slipspace ordered -- but you are making me second guess my decision
Has ANYONE solved the POS/NAV codes riddle yet? It's at the front and back of the book, seems to show seven coordinates, maybe in a 2D map layout. See reddit also.
If it covers all games and books I would like to see how it covers halo reach and fits it into the time line.
It does poorly, it really doesn't fix the mess of the novel/game continuity.
It's weird how they explain it, but they do connect it. Halo Reach (the game that is) is telling the story from the perspective of Noble Team from the planet of Reach, but the Fall of Reach tells the story before the events of the Covenant Invasion and during/right after the events of Halo Reach, from space.
The main reveal is about how the navigation data from the ship works.
So, if Cortana can't use the Ark/ get to it, could the UNSC use it as some kind of base, and maybe even use the Retriever Sentinels as a new Unit of some sorts?
For those interested, its $22 right now. Im happy with my purchase.
Floods back
Created? Precursors?
Finally!!!!
Halo Canon Understandable.
Ur armor is so badass! Too bad I can't get it!!!
Time and luck, my friend.
Dear Mr. Halo Canon guy. Are you going to do a review for Halo Fractures in the near future? I just got the audiobook last night and I finished the first story.
Just posted a few minutes ago ;)
I didn't think it was the banished that was the threat. Well who knows the flood may or may not ever return.
It's heavily implied. The book is designed to leave readers on the doorstep to Halo Wars 2.
I have not read all halo books but have not played halo 5 yet those this book go into detail about halo 5 in anyway?
My faith in the story is mostly restored. Now I'm just worried about the art, monetization, gameplay, ect. Let's hope those get fixed as well.
Thank god Brian reed is gone.
AlphaEon900
He is?
wait is he? source please. i need to see it for myself before i get excited.
source? If it is just talk, nothing is true. If their is proof, then we can believe you.
Wonder if the Halo Encyclopedia, 2022 edition, surpasses both nowadays?
is the hunt the truth campaign mentioned in any way? Would be a shame if they left out that masterpiece
But is the ODST variant from Halo 4 an in universe armor or is it a multiplayer only armor?
Unchainedmaple888 As far as we know, it's a canon variant. There's no reason to think otherwise.
what did they say about Mark G313?
Surprised you didnt comment on the whole absolute record thing
What about it? I've discussed all I can at this point. At least, I feel i have.
Thanks
It was meant to be a reference to John, but overall the whole "hyper-lethal vector" is considered dubious canon by the lore community, especially now under 343.
thank you vary much
I wonder if the "recompiled minds of the Created" may actually refer to the fact that Human AI are a recreation of a Human brain? Perhaps Human AI are flawed in the fact that they are based on living beings. Perhaps the Forerunner incompatibility with the Composer suggests a flaw or incompatibility of something such as the Domain and organics, of which the Created are based upon.
By any chance is the length of the ONI Acrisius mentioned at all in the guide?
No. Outside of Infinity, specific ship specs aren't covered at all.
Ship named Rubicon, Rubicon Protocol??
When are we gonna get that Fall of Reach review?
Soonish. It's next on my list after the Fractures review. Script is almost done, I've just been held up by new media and sickness.
What'd you think of the art of Maethrillian?
Very nice - one of best pics.
I got halo Mythos at a book fair for 20 bucks
Are all the Halo books that have been released to date worth reading compared to just reading Mythos and if so what would be the recommended order? If not then would Mythos be all I would need to get a more deeper understanding of Halo history?
Mythos gives you the surface level story, but the books will give you the nitty-gritty details. Mythos skips over a number of details and characters for the sake of simplifying Halo's mythos (no pun intended) thus far.
Halo Canon Ok thank you for that explanation!, do you have a recommended order in which the books should be read?
Release order is best. Regardless of when they take place, each books build on what came before, so it's best to read them in the order they released.
Alright thanks man and the vids are great!
Can I get a citation on that "Halo: Reach is an in-universe artifact" bit?
It's mentioned in one of the "extras" included with the Halo Reach limited and Legendary editions. It refers to Reach as an interactive record of the events leading up to the final fall of Reach and the actions of Noble Team in that time.
Ah. Thank you. It seems strange, but believable.
what visor?
Time to buy the book so I can understand Halo 5
It is a great buy if you are trying to understand Halo 5 and the events between Halo 4 - Halo 5, as well as though leading up to H5.
The shot of noble team at 1:24 -1:25, is that from Mythos or another book?
it is not from mythos, it might be from the enciclopedya
It's from the Halo Encyclopedia book
so does the UNSC know Curator is on the ark ? they have had research teams there so they would of found Curator.
The text implies that he can only observe, not interact (which heavily contradicts the theory I present, but I wanted to talk about it regardless).
yeah true.
do you think the Spartans will upgrade to Mark 4 Gen 2 ?
Oliver Mendonca Entirely possible.
what do you think about the Spartans on Spirit of Fire having the bodies of 21 year olds and being physically better then other Spartans?
they are younger and probably a little better, We may even see them still fighting battles with Spartans such as Chief decide to stop or die.
you mention the Primordial being a creation of the precursors and so on. i do not think it was a creation i fully think it is the last precursor.
it says in the book and i quote
" What the humans did not know was that the Primordial was, in fact, the last of the Precursors, evolved and mutated in order to survive the vast passage of time-and to exact vengeance on those who had destroyed its kind
my boi
So the halo: encyclopedia focuses on the games and this focuses on the lore, right?
The Encyclopedia focuses on the lore, too, but it's kind of a mess, visually speaking. It does also deal with game content and is more a reference book than an in-universe summary of events.
Does it show what a Keymind looks like?
No
So two things can be worth mentioning from this. #HopingIt'sFlood
And two: I know you mentioned this in an earlier video for them to include in Mythos, but is the Reach timeline finally settled for dispute? Did they finally piece everything together officially?
The "shadow of a threat" is definitely meant to refer to the Banished. It could have a double mean, also referring to the Flood, but Mythos is meant to leave the reader on the doorstep to Halo Wars 2.
The subject of Reach isn't really addressed any more than it already has been (if you've read Halsey's journal and the data drops from 5 years ago), however it does acknowledge the canonocity of both sources and does help the more casual fan understand that Halo Reach and Halo: The Fall of Reach are both canon sources.
Just got this book from a School bookfair
What about how well The Fall of Reach connects with Halo Reach? Or is it at this point that the game overwrites what happened on Reach?
Halo Canon Oh okay. So I am just going to assume that news just spread slowly on Reach
***** The Covenant attacking the Visegrad relay effectively cut off the colony from the UNSC at large, so news couldn't really spread.
I have to ask dose every one know what class of ship the UNSC Rubicon is?
It's never been confirmed.
Reach was an "interactive record"?
In-universe, it was an interactive record compiled from security and helmet-cam footage. Basically, it was a playable recording. There's a reason the limited edition case was designed to be an ONI black box.
Thanks for clarifying that. Wasn't aware of that somehow
Where can I buy this? Off Waypoint's Site?
Amazon had a sale when I got it idk it's still around
I got mine on Amazon. It's probably on the Waypoint site, too, though.
im still a little on the fence. to be honest, im not really that interested in the art. i just sort of wanted an indepth and comprehensive timeline.
while i own all the novels im not too savvy to reread them on any sort of basis anf i don't want to constantly reference wikis
For its size, the book is surprisingly in-depth and contains a ton of new details that have never been revealed anywhere else. One I didn't bring up in the video, for example, is a map of our solar system in the 26th century, and what sort of colonies/bases are established on what moons and planets.
10:43 Some of North America can been seen on the largest arm in the picture.
You're a Spartan?
Halo: Reach is an in-universe artifact?
o
Yeah, it's revealed with the Limited and Legendary editions. It's basically an interactive reconstruction of events taken from security footage, helmet cams, and what-not.
Halo Canon Thanks!
How much is it?
It's £15 in the UK but you have to wait October 6th already preordered
$30 on Amazon
Sam Lund Thanks.
I think by recompiled it may be referring to the fact that some AI are based on human brains and are a kind of second iteration of someone's mind.
EVERY Smart AIs (like Cortana, Serina, Roland, Isabel) are based on human brains
That is why I said some
It very well could be, but the way it's said just sounds so strange. Why have that qualifier at all?
Ironside451
I though Curator was an Smart AI, given he was in charge of UNSC Rubicon
*forerunner precursor war
Leaving out those crappy mobile games from the Canon is a plus to me.
