I’ve been thinking of putting a camera in the cab and doing a part two of actual driving going through some tips and tricks if people were interested.

Very interesting, I had no idea you can split the gears. I have learned to drive my car without the clutch, it’s fun. That’s for sharing.

I drove all transmisions even back when we had dúplex/ two stick transmisions but 13 speed is my favor, 18 speed is harder to get the hang of it but are great transmisions.

Really only difference in 18 and 13 is you have to be in the low side of the gears before dropping into low side of the transmission. Thanks for watching

What if you make a mistake and need to drop down a gear? Do you switch back to low side of transmission or do you just split the gears to down shift?

The gear you would have to drop to depends on your speed. If you catch it pretty quick you should only have to drop one gear. You never have to split gears, you can do whole gears the whole time if you want. I think it is part 2 of these videos where I finally had better audio please watch that video for a better reference. Thank you for watching this one.

I've driven truck's with 9 to 19 speeds, and I know how to drive!!!
Doesn't matter how many gears you have!!!
If you know what your doing, you can do just as well with 9 speeds,as you can with 18 speeds!!!

I'm not a trucker myself but I'm the shunter where I work. I try to shift at a lower rpm as the truck severely grinds gears when shifted at a high rpm but the gears will grind even at low rpms sometimes. It's even worse when I have a heavy trailer on the truck. I use the clutch to shift just like I do in my car. Any tips on how to stop grinding the gears when shifting? I've been told by truckers that every truck grinds gears when shifting and that it's normal but I find that very hard to believe. Wouldn't that do damage to the transmission overtime?

Well it’s a timing thing on the gears. You have to find what rpm that your truck likes to shift at and then stick with it. You are right that continues grinding of gears will tear up the transmission, who ever told you all truck drivers grind the gears clearly isn’t a very good truck driver or he drives an automatic 😂. I have been thinking of doing a video while actually driving so that might be a little more helpful. Good luck to you and remember it’s all about timing have to match engine and transmission speeds for the gears to sync properly.
