    There was no better moment in the modern Bruins-Habs rivalry than in the 2014 playoffs' second round, when after winning in Game 6 (to tie the series 3 games each) Subban said "I can't wait for the crowd, the noise, the energy in the building. I can't wait to take that all away from them.” It's not arrogance if you deliver, and Subban (and the rest of the Habs) delivered. I still get a case of the "what-ifs," when I think about what could have been, had Price remained uninjured vs. the Rangers (curse you Chris Kreider!). The Habs would certainly have made the Finals that year (they were the better team - but the better team having to rely on Dustin Tokarski, who was never anything more than a decent AHL goaltender, is still going to lose most of the time), but could they have beaten Quick and the Kings? Could the haters who to this day claim that Montreal should've picked Kopitar instead of Price with their 5th-overall pick in 2005, be silenced by Price leading his team to a Stanley Cup against Kopitar himself?

    • @jonathandrouin8717

    • @VoIcanoman
      @VoIcanoman 7 месяцев назад

      @@jonathandrouin8717 First, it was the semifinals, and also, the bench minor allowed the Habs to tie the game, not win it - they forced OT and won in less than a whole period of extra time. Montréal then beat the Rangers 4 games to 1 to win their 4th consecutive Cup. Anyway, that's neither here nor there - it's a great moment to be sure. But personally, I see that year with a lot of sadness, as it was the last time Montréal was a truly dominant team. At the time, Habs' fans expected nothing less than the Cup every year, and with good reason. But after 1979, the Isles had their dynasty, and then the Oilers had theirs, and just as things were starting to look like they might go back to the way they were, with Montréal on top of the world (if they could just beat Boston, ironically...they didn't have to in 1993 when they won the Cup, but lost to them in the Divisional Finals the previous 3 years), we got Bettman. And he convinced the owners (including the Habs' owners) that there was much more money to be made by adding teams and spreading out the talent ("growing" the league at the expense of its existing fans), leading to the current, dismal state of affairs.
      So to me, that victory came at a huge cost - sure they beat the Bruins and humiliated Cherry, but it was the beginning of a forced readjustment period for Habs fans, wherein we had to come to accept that the League had changed around us, and our team could no longer be counted on to dominate.

      I'm a Bruins fan and I agree with you on all this. But PK diving in the playoffs made me lose respect for him. I think he's extremely talented and a genuinely good guy, but when you resort to flopping for penalties, you tarnish the game and your legacy.
      Just like how Marchand has gotten away from most of these antics, but will always be remembered for them.

    The most satisfying hit, for me, was Larry Robinson’s clean, thunderous hit on Gary Dornhoefer in the 1976 SC Finals. However, Larry Robinson’s complete dismantling of Dave Schultz was the most satisfying moment in Habs’ lore, for me. Andre “Third Man In” Dupont saved Schultz from a trip to the morgue.

      Indeed. But for active players, I think it's a toss-up between Marchand and Wilson. Marchand has been suspended more, but I think Wilson has committed the most dangerous infractions (of the two).

    As a Bruins fan, I'm compelled to point out that one of these players is still playing and is on track to win his second cup, and the other is already gone and cupless. But as a hockey fan, I'll freely admit that PK helped make the early-2010s chapter of the rivalry into the awesome thing it was.

    The only thing I disagree with is the comment that Marchand is the player "you love to hate, but would love to have on your team." He's cheap, dirty, and costs you in the long run. His antics will either cause him to be suspended, or end up drawing penalties against you that would harm the team during the regular season.
    As a die-hard Blues fan, I can wholly attest that I'm tired of Jordan Binnington's crap for the exact same reasons.

    Being from Boston, Brad is my favorite player because he's not just a great hockey player. He's very spicy and we like that around here! Now that both his hips are done he has the ability for much more fun. I'd say sorry to the rest of the NHL, but I'm really not.

    I guess it’s just fashionable to hate on Brad Marchand. Fact is that he is the best right winger in the world. And he hasn’t committed a dirty penalty in over five years… I guess when you first enter the league when you’re 20 years old, you build up a reputation and it follows you for your whole career.
    Factice is that he plays next to Patrice Bergeron who’s probably the most classiest and most respected player in the entire NHL… And if he was a dirty player, Bergeron wouldn’t play with him… Look at the players of the Bruins acquired this year that was accused of bullying, a kid in his teens, Bergeron wanted no part of it and gotten kicked off the team. Marshawn changed his attitude in the way. He played the game because of Bergeron. So people can keep calling him dirty but the fact is is that he’s not anymore I wouldn’t that he was in his early 20s when he first entered the league but that’s just simply not the case anymore, he is kept that giant and those of his clean and has been the most dominant right winger in the NHL. I guess people that don’t follow him regularly don’t know when they just carry the stigma around for the rest of his career but I think it’s unfair… Shit I certainly wouldn’t want to be blamed for my entire career for stuff that I pulled in my early 20s… Just saying if you’re one of these people that hates Brad Marchand and thinks he’s dirty,… Why don’t you do a little bit of research and follow his recent play before making judgments now
