    Too bad we just a cpl weeks ago bought a different sound tools cable 🙃

      Where are you located? Send us an email to sound tools. We can work with you on a swap if you want.

    have you ever tried cat6 to fiber (500+ meters) to cat6?
    they also make an ethernet POE in line passive line amplifier. Not sure if this will work for audio. But it lets you run POE camera systems past 100 meters

      We use and own many miles of fiber and for long runs, fiber is the way to go.
      Also, on the back of every Midas and Behringer console is AES50 etherCON to connector other consoles and stage racks.
      One could convert to fiber and back again, or buy the Dante cards or buy AES50 extenders. And since we all love having extra dongles and wall warts and carrying extra gear and added complexity, those are all great ways to go.
      Or
      One could just get a cable that dependably works and exceeds manufactures specs (the cable that the manufacture makes does not meet its own specs)
      Plug it in and have everything work perfectly with out adding a bunch of other things to go wrong or worry about.
      Just an option for those that want a simple solution

      @@DaveRat Is it possible that you could please do a video on your fiber techniques and procedures?

      I will consider that I have been researching fiber cables and I'm considering hey project to manufacture a sound tools fiber optic cable.
      But it'll be a while because I have to do lots and lots of research and learn more than I know now

    Have you (or anyone) tried this one with Waves LV1? The LV1 can be a bit cranky at the 100m mark with some cables.

    Do you mind if I just buy the original from Sommer Cable?
    Just a bit easier to get hold of here in the Netherlands.

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  2 месяца назад

      Not at all. The 2 cables that Sommer makes that are closest are a cat6 that I use in the test and a Cat6a that I chopped up and used as the extensions in the long form RUclips video I did. Maybe take a look. Neither met the specs and flex I was shooting for, else I would have just recommended that cable.
      So yes, theoretically you could order direct from Sommer and work with them to develop a cable to your specs. We have not given our permission for them to sell our cable design directly though.
      Minimum order is 10 kometwr to 20 kilometers depending on the cable design.
      Let me know how it works out!

    What type of supercat cable would you use if you were permanently installing a PA system and had to run it through pvc conduit???

    • @DaveRat
      @DaveRat  3 месяца назад +7

      For that you don't need to spend the extra money on the super Cat durability and flexibility. Solid conductor cat cable is cheaper and handles data well. I'd get either a solid conductor Cat 5e if it's not too high of a bandwidth or solid conductor cat6a if it's higher bandwidth and you'll save money. Plus for installs you off and want plenum grade.
      The The big challenge is making flexible durable cables that also handle high bandwidth and travel long distances which is what the super Cat is designed for

      I'd just go the Cat. 6a option and be done with it. That way you've got more than enough for normal operation and a bit more to spare for other digital traffic or even transceiving higher bitrate feeds.

      Will there be a 50mtr option as well Dave ?
      I very rarely need anything longer with what I do. Happy to buy the 100 if that's the only option though mate so all good regardless.
      Cheers.

      @antztudio there is a 60 meter version as well as 10 meter and 100 meter
