The gate for the woodyard is awesome Jake! Matbe you can carve a couple of bears for the top of the posts! The drinking glasses are as well and I wouldn't mind buying one! God bless
Good job Jake. Working on a cattle ranch in my first life I know what it takes to hang a gate ,so when you look at it over the years you don't say "I could have done better". The glasses might be so to put in your merchandise store.
Yard is coming together nicely, Jake. Trick I learned 51 years ago as a lineman for plumbing poles. Take a crescent wrench and "hang" the bottom hole from your pinky finger. Back off the length of the pole and use the handle to sight whether the pole is straight on at least two sides. That way, it doesn't matter if the pole tapers or not or the length of the pole. Keep up the good work.
I really appreciate when someone else is as anal as I am about aesthetics. No point doing a job if you're not going to walk away satisfied and proud of it! Looks great.
Okay, so only thing I could have added to this, and this is just the bushcrafter coming out of me, lol. But I'd have burned the ends of the cedar logs that was buried... I know cedar is like a natural bug deterrent, but just as added protection 🤷♂️ Great work as usual Jake, they look very nice💪ohhh and you guys are so close to 10k❤❤
The issue is that you log post is tapered and your top lag hook is not in the same plane as the bottom one. So that gate tilts up. A little chainsaw work to cut a flat spot for the bottom lag hook would have done the job.
I wouldn’t worry too much about how level they are right away. They will settle. Most likely tilting to the ends of the gates. Then you can adjust to level. But it all looks awesome! Great job.
Hell yeah, I'll take one. Glass that is. Tip, double nut bolts on the hangers. Make it harder to loosen in the dark w just one wrench😉😉. Take left boot off, then they'll be even. Better buy lottery ticket
Nice gate setup 👍🏻👍🏻. I would agree with what you said about the trailer weight. Our government expects us to get things right but they can word things how they please without representation! Sounds like a double standard. From what I've been told 🤔 MVA and the DOT aren't on the same page and they don't work together. This needs to be fixed!!! Great video and progress going on at the Dude Ranch 👍🏻
I was shocked when I registered my 6x10 dump trailer and was told that it did not need a title because it "weighs' 2440 lbs. That's what the paperwork says at least. But from my experience, it actually weighs closer to 3,500 lbs.
i have a pro level firewood cutting question.... how do you or how can i hire a hand? of course i tried running an ad but never got a hit, tried on facebook, local school, kids, grandkids and neighbors. best i can find is a 15 year old that's never seen a chainsaw or driven a tractor and he wants 20 an hour, i've never seen a 15 year old that could work for 8 hours and i have to pick him up and take him home.
@@DudeRanchDIY yeah I'm hoping camping season will pick things up.... I see a couple guys are continuing to sell strong and it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong or its just slowed down
Jake just take it as a win as you are I been working off n on for a hobby farmer n they haven't got a gate that close ever one always over laps other n not straight. Bill
Gosh am I happy I don't live in an area that securing a woodyard would EVER be an issue. Then again if someone/anyone actually "NEEDS" some of my firewood bad enough to steal it, they should have simply asked, and I would have given it to them. If they didn't ask, then that would be where I simply forgive them. Its firewood, not gold bullion. NOT judging you in any way at all! Do what you think you need to do. I'm simply being thankful for what I have.
It’s not an issue in my area at all. I have never had any theft from my roadside stand. Never had anyone poking around or anything. I came across the gates at the dump so figured “eh, it can’t hurt” plus I think they look pretty cool
The gates are only a discouragement for honest thieves. A battery grinder or a battery impact driver and someone can be in within minutes. A guy up the road from me a bit discourages thieves by placing a stump about the size of the rock near your gate directly across his 10ft wide gate.
I am the last person who wants to tell you how you should run your yard. I apologize - I have done literally hundreds of miles of fence posts. For anchor posts, and/or gates, you just have to put a cross member such as an "X" and that will keep the top from moving at all. The only time we used a backhoe was to dig the corner and anchor posts. Also - sorry again, not giving advice but observations - the quickest way to remove a fence anchored by wood would be with a chainsaw. You probably live in a secure area anyway. Don't take this the wrong way, you do you
I had to put a big log across my entrence from the road i have another entrence from my drive next to my house some guy thinks it his turn around, he would pull in my drive next to my house go into my woodyard and out the other drive i think he got a suprise the next time he tried i then put smaller logs in my drive going from my drive so he cant even get in some people have a lot of balls

Ahaha best comment on the video! 😂 thanks Michael
Your wood yard coming a long way
Thanks buddy
Damn good job being by yourself Jake where’s Chris when you’re in need for two more hands 🙌 ❤😮
Thanks Todd, got it done!
The gate for the woodyard is awesome Jake! Matbe you can carve a couple of bears for the top of the posts! The drinking glasses are as well and I wouldn't mind buying one! God bless
Gate is a nice touch, looks great!
Great job Jake looks great 👍👍🇺🇸
Good job, Jake. It looks like a professional installed the gate. Now, you'll need to install an automatic opener.
Haha I’m not that fancy
Well young man, abousely you have a great eye. Well done.
after the way that went I would have gone to store and played the power ball while your luck was going strong. hahah
😂
Great addition to the yard, Jake.
Good job Jake. Working on a cattle ranch in my first life I know what it takes to hang a gate ,so when you look at it over the years you don't say "I could have done better". The glasses might be so to put in your merchandise store.
Yep I knew if I didn’t get them at least close I would regret it every time I went to open them
Cool glassware!!! Nice job on hanging the gates!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks!

Very interesting!
Looks good to me, I just put gates in my yard with the same hinges it defiantly takes a little time to get them right.
I really appreciate when someone else is as anal as I am about aesthetics. No point doing a job if you're not going to walk away satisfied and proud of it! Looks great.
Do it once, do it right
Okay, so only thing I could have added to this, and this is just the bushcrafter coming out of me, lol. But I'd have burned the ends of the cedar logs that was buried... Haha not a bad idea, not much thought went into this install 😂
Fun video! KC Don
Coat the tops of posts with paint to avoid rot from water penetration.
Yep, I have some Anchorseal
21:27 - Every tool is a hammer if you use it wrong enough.
I want a glass!!! I will get it when I come for the moisture meter!!!
Sounds good!
Put a solar light on post I've got one see everything good video
That’s a good idea, I have a few spares laying around
Wondered why one up, one down? Both turned up to support the weight of the gate?
If they both faced up you could potentially just lift the gate up off the hinges.
The issue is that you log post is tapered and your top lag hook is not in the same plane as the bottom one. So that gate tilts up. A little chainsaw work to cut a flat spot for the bottom lag hook would have done the job.
Yep could’ve done that, but I didn’t want to alter the look of the post
I wouldn’t worry too much about how level they are right away. They will settle. Most likely tilting to the ends of the gates.
Then you can adjust to level.
But it all looks awesome! Great job.
Exactly, a week later now and they still are pretty dead on
fucking nailed it!
Thanks!
Does the Rockland location have splitter there to look at I am thinking about going there I live about 25 minute away for them
Not sure, give them a call

Weld it to be sure
Yep I’m thinking I’ll just tack weld on the nuts
@@DudeRanchDIY yeah, that's a lot better. But lot harder if you need to pull it off for some reason
Looking good Jake, Funny how the help came after you Finnished😂🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
That’s the way it always works!
A gun and a good shot will up that security concern! Really looking nice around the wood yard! 9.9k, you are so close!!!
Well that is the second layer of defense if necessary 😂 you hit it! Congrats on 10k!
Nice gate setup 👍🏻👍🏻.

Yeah I was annoyed not being able to register the trailer.
U read my mind when u said 2 signs with ur logo lollooks good tho
Too funny😂
19:00 Whoops !!
Have you ever heard of a level. It make it alot easier!!!?
My level was in my work truck so I had to use the iPhone and my eye.
I was shocked when I registered my 6x10 dump trailer and was told that it did not need a title because it "weighs' 2440 lbs. That's what the paperwork says at least. But from my experience, it actually weighs closer to 3,500 lbs.

It’s hard. If I didn’t have Chris idk how I’d go about it. People ask me looking for work quite often but none are worth hiring.
UPDATE ON THE ROADSIDE STAND!! Let us know how its doing!
Things are pretty slow, 1 maybe two sales a week
@@DudeRanchDIY yeah I'm hoping camping season will pick things up.... I see a couple guys are continuing to sell strong and it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong or its just slowed down
I think it depends on your area, not much camping by me, the guys that live near big camping areas do well
You could hire me ,
No one would even show up ,
I carry a Snake bite kit

That should keep the honest man out of the woodyard!! Great touch though.
That’s all the intention is
Nice job, Jake. I’d be a little pissed about the trailer reg as well. If they meant gvwr, why didn’t they write it that way?
Exactly!
Do you not have a hammer 😂
Leave it high to add a sign for your company, name and phone numbers.
Not trying to advertise at my home. Maybe a “dude ranch” sign in the future
There’s always some “language” involved when it comes to the DMV….normally it’s some obscene language, but definitely “some language”
Yep usually not an easy process
I might need a key to the woodyard……just sayin.
The gates are only a discouragement for honest thieves. A battery grinder or a battery impact driver and someone can be in within minutes. A guy up the road from me a bit discourages thieves by placing a stump about the size of the rock near your gate directly across his 10ft wide gate.
Not really meant to prevent a serious thief, metal posts could be cut just as easily with a torch haha 😂
