    Why Divo? JEPQ has a higher yield, better capital appreciation and a lower expense ratio. Plus it gives you that tech exposure you mentioned. To top it off it's run by JP Morgan and it's sister fund is JEPI.

    I'm long MO myself, NJOY has been sky rocking via consumables and devices recently. Also with the FDA approval of the new NJOY device 2.0 as well as a select few of new consumables, I am very bullish on the company. It is certainly a new generation and the new era of smoking has been shifting towards the E Cigarette sector with massive volume from NJOY's earning. As well as ON! Plus catching traction overseas in Sweden and Switzerland. Altria plans to hit home runs in the long term leading up to 2028 and so on. I enjoy what I invest in and I am certainly always around for earning within all my holding in my portfolio. I always appreciate the content here, Cheers!

    I have BTI and MO, both larger positions. I did skim a few shares off MO when it went over $50 and closed my O position to take advantage of the discounted share price of BMY.
    PFE is one I've looked at off and on over the last few years, perhaps time to look again, though I'm more inclined to build the BMY position to be able to sell covered calls on it and still have my base "forever" position at a much lower cost once some get called away. I have a solid long stake in ABBV, too. It was the first dividend stock I bought in 2020. Beginner's luck!
    I'll buy more BTI at $33ish; replenish MO below $44, also watching BMY, KEY. Actively added to ABR, ARCC, and CWSC and keeping them on my watch list, too. They are high yield investments with taxable dividends.
    Happy investing and sometimes trading! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and perspective.

    Love the vids. I've been buying a lot of SBUX and O this past quarter. I am very pleased with those buys and have no plans on selling. I'll happily buy more if the stock price falls further. I've got a 30-year time horizon. I'm waiting for KO to go down. I'm currently looking at Cisco and Phizer, waiting to see if I want to start a position in those companies.

    Looks like S&P 500 ended down 3% today and the Nasdaq down 3.4%. I'm down 2% today. Including new money I'm now down 2.6% since my all time high on 16 July.
    It's been a long time since the S&P was down over 30% (2007-2009) and even longer since it was down over 50% (2000-2002). We'll see what happens now! 🍿

    You should give info about absolute numbers of your portfolio. That will make it more interesting. Actual return vs if someone invested purely in S&P 500. that's the part that anyone would want to know.
    For most of the people all this is less profitable compared to investing in S&P 500 index fund instead of individual stocks, that's why you should share absolute numbers in your portfolio, including the trades that have not done so well.

    I have said it many times about SBUX. You should never fall in love with a stock. SBUX is in an industry that is too easily reproduced by other players. Coffee is still coffee and everyone sells it. SBUX was fashionable and like every fashion at some point people move on to something else.
    For MCD its the same. Here in Europe the quality and quantity are down but not the price which is becoming stratospheric.
    The good days of these companies are behind us.
    At best I see their stock price stagnating for a long time.
    I don't know how it is for MCD in the USA but when I compare what you received in 2019 for €20 (2 burgers, 2 fries, two cokes, two nice bowls of salad) and today in 2024 for €28 (2 small Burgers that shrank in the wash...😊, 1 salad in a cardboard box where you can count the leaves, 2 fries and two glasses of water) in a room sparsely populated with consumers I no longer see a rosy future for this company.

      No one needs sbux. The best company stock investment of all time is Home Depot, a 1000 dollar investment at 1981 IPO just sitting there with nothing ever added at a 27% annual rate of return would now be worth over over 20 million dollars, no tech, nothing innovative just basic stuff people need.

    • @theropemonster
      @theropemonster 2 месяца назад

      This comment didn’t age well 😂… SBUX is a banger when you swoop it with a 25-30% margin of safety. All it needed was a catalyst… new CEO was plenty to send it back toward its fair value.

    • @SuperInsuranceman
      @SuperInsuranceman 2 месяца назад +1

      @@theropemonster The excitement of the new CEO will last for a while and then SBUX will return to his quote before the announcement because nothing will have changed. It's always a bad sign when a company suddenly changes the CEO. This is a sign that business is going very badly.

    • @beepbeepnj2658
      @beepbeepnj2658 2 месяца назад

      @@SuperInsuranceman Bed bath and beyond got a new ceo how did it turn out? People are afraid to be seen in public at sbux paying 6 dollars for something that costs 9 cents and the ones that hide and stay in the car drive up well they will get fat with laziness so either way you lose with sbux. The only one who wins is the 113 million dollar salary of the new ceo so even he is bad he still got a good pay package.

    • @theropemonster

    Oh, Ian.....3% DYoC.....that's mutual fund muni bond territory on a whatever day you want it to be. In the 5 years I've been doing this for my Mom (she's now 95) I've gotten her investment income up to 5.23% and we're getting ready to jump it to 5.6% this week in a move. The last half of the year I won't look at a position if it's less than 4.5% and anything in the 3% range is on the chopping block. Let me help you start to move the needle. Take a 3% or less stock and sell it, hopefully at a profit, but a loss if necessary. Look at ETD and take your newfound cash and put it in that. Do this before 8/13 so you not only get the 6-ish% dividend, but also the $0.40 special cash dividend they're distributing. 4.5% or better is not impossible, but you have to find the right tree in the forest. Disclaimer: I am a individual investor with no financial affiliation. I don't own or manage ETD holdings currently. Do your own evaluation before purchasing.

    Great Job Ian, I am looking to mitigate risk on the reent high valuations. I am also looking to diversify my holdings. I am looking at a small cap in the Netherlands called Acomo that is in the spice and nut/edible seed market. I could use a "commodity company, also a defensive food one. Also a small cap position I could learn from as most of my individual picks are large bluechips. Plus it gives dividends with management heavily invested themselves. I am currently half way through their annual report as I have a "new" rule for myself in individual stock picks to slug through the annual report. So far I am liking it for fitting into my portfolio. The other pick I am considering is a beer company from Brazil that is basically owned by BUD. AMBEV but I haven't started reading that one yet.
