In this lesson, I explain how to create nostalgia with your chord progressions.
For that you need to understand the concepts of:
- The relationship between Major/minor relative chords
- Using deceptive cadences
Those are relatively simple concepts, but very powerful to infuse a nostalgic dose into your chord progressions.

If you want nostalgia, flamenco 4 notes descent always works. For example Am-G-F-E.
Sometimes I watch your videos just to relax. Your guitar's reverb sounds so pleasant and calming.

In fact you use the harmony of scale. The part is in E ( Emaj, F#m,G#m, Amaj, Bmaj, C#min, D#dim)..the trick is not using the standard chord progression. Nice work again!

Does that new shape for C# minor only work in the case of that chord? I tried it for other minor chords and they don't sound good.

Why in this C# minor chord do we play the 8th fret (D#) on the G string instead of the 9th (E)? This chord sounds beautiful but I wonder why we call it C# minor since E is a minor third for C#.
Because the open 1st string is also E, so instead of playing the 9th fret on the G string and doubling the same exact note, I moved it one fret down to the 8th fret to create a beautiful dissonance and more complexity in the chord.
