I Love 4Runners, I have bought & sold many over the years Gens 3-5, V6's & V8's... I have enjoyed them all but now more than ever, the value in a vehicle really comes from the day you make your last payment, until the day a repair makes keeping it more cost prohibitive than buying another one...That said, after having put 1.5 Million miles on 4Runners, if I cant get 250,000 miles minimum without a significant repair, then its not a great value to me...Every single one of my 4 Runners have been able to do this & more... NOW, with battery packs & electric motors & turbos, is that still a reality, because those components almost guarantee a cost prohibitive repair at some point down the road... I'm going to hold out for a minute to gain feedback on longevity which is 50% of why Toyota fans buy Toyota's, the other part being durability & they do seem at least durable from the tests & reviews coming in which is a great start...
Does the iForce max have a flat cargo section? Since the battery adds that lifted bit, it looks like it might line up with the seats when they're down.
Of course, leave it to Lyn to give a real and solid review on a 4x4 vehicle like the 4Runner. Real world experience through and through and insight to boot. 🙌🙌
All while at the same time, they are charging more for less, especially when it comes to their lower trim Models. people are so dense that only new Toyota owners would not understand..🙈
Wow, was really hoping that they'd be able dig out a couple of more mpg with the addition of a hybrid drive train. I know it's not a Prius, but Toyota is the hybrid king, they should be able to do better.
I love the hair 😅 so am going to test drive one as soon it gets to the dealers here in Texas. I love 4tunners and i hope this one will last as long my old one. Like many others I mostly worry about this new engine and really hate the price but that's the post money printing hang over, nothing will ever get cheaper! Thank you for the great review, always positive and up beat 🥰
Hi Lyn. Love your reviews (and humor). I didn’t see an auto start/stop defeat button on any model. Did the non-hybrid ICE models have auto start/stop feature? Of course, I understand the hybrid models would not.
I think Toyota’s pricing of the 4Runner is quite ambitious. With the high end near $70k, it’s in the range of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. And Toyota has and should use its reliability as the selling point. However, from the comments, people aren’t keen on the 2.4L turbo-4 and the HybridMAX. (Toyota is having headaches with the full-sized Tundra pickups with switch from V8 to twin turbo V6 and their HybridMAX version of the V6.)
@@Mycameron2323 I’m a Toyota fan but let’s not ignore the facts that they are doing a fine job on killing their reputation. Their recall list is just getting bigger
Your hair is great, do I get throttled? Toyota has lost itself a bit I think, with their pricing. If I'm getting a 4runner or skmethjng similar, I kinda want it more bare bones, 57k CAD starting price....then skyrocketing from there...
Price is just ridiculous!! I decided to not get this but to wait for the Honda Passport. Would much rather get a low-mileage Audi Q8 or Porsche Cayenne S for cheaper price than the TRD Pro or Trailhunter!
Love the new truck but spec out a TRD Pro w iForce Max and pricing ends up at over $77K. That is into Lexus GX territory. Hope the lower trim levels are more reasonably priced.
I like new things. Trading in my 2021 4R Limited (Nightshade) for a 2025 or (26) Platinum. I'm in Canada so they tell us 9-16 months wait ($1k deposit down) I miss all the tech from the Audi Q5 I had before my 21 4R. The new ride will be my DD. I have a 1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler for weekends and off roads. Thanks for the great review.
I own the 5th generation 4Runner which love but the new one 6th generation looks appealing . I would probably wait about a year before purchasing one so Toyota can work out the bugs . 😊
I’ll get it as a 2025.5 model next year when the lots are full of them and they are $10k off sticker. Sweet truck, nice down to earth review as always 😎👍
I turn 44 this year. By the time the 7th gen 4runner is released, dollars to donuts I'll be able to apply for FULL social security* benefits. *continued program existence pending
The thing is that because the 4runner line up is so diverse ... it makes it difficult for automotive journalists to have a complete review... and usually follow the route for a trend review thats why the focus on the TRD Pro and Trailhunter... specially the TRD Pro.... I really hope you guys review the Limited and the Platinum cause the Adaptive variable suspension will do make a difference in the ride quality of the car... just saying... Another thing and is you all peoplee can see.. this car is better than the Land cruiser 250 in every apsect... I just don't understand why have 3 models so well equiped here.... people are gonna cross shop the trd pro vs the gx550 overtrail... and that car is better in other ways principally the engine ... I dont know whats gonna happen... but that 4 runner will kill the Land cruiser...
Appears tp me that Toyota has priced these things to be parking lot-finders. Are any of the manufacturers interested in making a reasonably priced off-road vehicle anymore? Between the sales price and what it will cost for insurance on these things, I cannot see too many of them being driven on serious trails. Also, for anyone out there planning on purchasing one of these trims equipped with a sunroof without a test drive first, don't. You REALLY need to sit in both the first and second rows. Toyota has carried over the poor headroom from the previous generation.
Having owned the new Land Cruiser, i agree with nearly every review except this one: the engine/hybrid/trans combo is awful. Noisy, not synced well at all, feels gutless in nearly every situation… the torque number is super fake “real world”. You can’t use it. And a 0-60 in around 8.0 tells the power(less) story. Loved everything about the LC except the entire powertrain. Had they used the GX550/Tundra engine the LC & 4Runner would be perfect. This engine is smooth, quiet, and powerful, even real world (which is why it’s much quicker).
I’m not sure I agree a turbo on an inline 4 inherently makes it complicated and I have not yet heard of this specific engine being unreliable (at least more so than anything else out there).
@ it’s twice the vehicle especially 3.0 diesel at 30 mpg . You don’t need a tent on roof cause there’s enough for whole family inside to sleep . It’s also more reliable than Toyota these days 😆😆😆
Loaded with cheap interior materials, questionable engine reliability, and overpriced. That's Toyota nowadays. I am sure Toyota will sell lots of them, specially the $$$ TRD Pro version, so parents can take their kids to school and load them with grocery bags.

White and black TRD Pro model looks SO CRISP! Plus no compromised second row makes it more viable than Tacoma

Lyn, As a fifth generation 4Runner owner, did you notice 14:50 they also deleted the 40/20/40 second row seat? 🤔
I think that depends on trim.
@@wiicodman None of them have it. The feature has also been deleted from the GX, LX and Land Cruiser with the TNGA redesign.
Toyota ignored an entire group of people who prefer the V6 4Runner not the Turbo four.

My father still has his ’03 4Runner. It still runs as if he just bought it. He says he will never get rid of it. That is Toyota 😊
That WAS Toyota. Built in Japan. Reliable as time. I'm skeptical these Mexican Toyotas are built to the same standard.

When will the V6 version come out?
when Trump kills the EPA.
wait 2 years from now and see if it's a GO!!!

The battery in the rear cargo area makes no sense. Horrendously executed.
We want the option of the 4.0 V6 with a reliable 6 speed transmission too. The 5th Gen just needed one more gear.
