I’m in shock, I’ve been looking for this episode for years! The 2nd guest is my great-auntie Anne, she passed away in 2018 at the age of 83. While she was in palliative care she told us about when she was on this show and I’ve been on the search since. Thank you so much for posting this, it means the world to me and my family.

I was a teenager back in the 70's, and I used to watch this every night at 7 o'clock up in my bedroom.

In Atlanta, by any chance? Channel 11 there carried the show at 7 until 1974.

Mr. Robinson was only 50 years old when this was aired. He lived only to be 53, dying in 1972.

God rest his soul. saw the movie about the hell that man went through. #42 you made the world a better place and i believe you died so young because of the years of stress you went through. and although i'm white= those mfs didn't have to treat you that way. this is why i'm ever so sure that you're in heaven as i type in this comment.

In a way, Jackie was on a television series - he was a color commentator on ABC's Game of the Week in 1965.

@Zone: What Joanna was wearing was very typical of late 1969 (when this show aired).

That was classic when Soupy suggested that Joanna ask if the product was "bigger than a challah"!

Jackie was only 50 here and died less than 3 years later.

I love these old time shows. After watching the very beautiful Anne give an impressive sales pitch, I had a hunch this product may not have lasted very long. I’m sure Anne was very confident that this product worked. Just a year later the US Gov banned the devices under violation of food and drug admin statute for false advertising.

Soupy was probably the kind of guy who claimed to be many places where he wasn't really.

bert convey? was a nice looking man who, sadfully, died very young while he was still a nice looking man. forget exactly how he died but it wasn't an accident.

Burt Convy and yes, he died at 57 of a brain tumour.

The audience warm up man instructs everyone in the audience to laugh at Soupy's jokes, saying Soupy's feelings will be hurt if you don't laugh.

Sure not as classy as in the days of John Daly.

But the show needed updating for syndication (the colorful set, lively music, demonstrations, etc.). The John Daly version wouldn't have survived.

Norelco, in case you didn't notice, THIS version had a FAR shorter run than Daly's. Color and an inferior host didn't do a thing.

      @@4seeableTV - 7 seasons is still a respectable run.

Did anyone notice that Soupy said “They told me wrong” to Jackie Robinson, implying to me that Soupy has been given material ahead of time to ask the mystery guest (also leading me to think they purposely didn’t guess the MG)

also soupey sales looks very young here. i use to watch him on some kids show when i was little where he was fired for jokingly telling us kids to go into our mothers purse or our fathers wallets and to take out the green bills and to mail them to uncle soupey. this is a true story.

No, it's not. He was suspended for two weeks and kids picketed the station to bring him back. Any actual money that did come in (most was fake like Monopoly money) was given to local charities..

Wally Bruner always gave too many Clues. John Daly really knew how to interact with everyone in a classy way.

I agree. I think that Wally may have been told to do it to save time so that more commercials could be shown.
