Carbon/carbon composite materials have the characteristics of high specific strength, high specific modulus, strong designability, good processability and excellent high temperature performance, and are widely used in the aerospace field.
Since the end of the 20th century, aerospace powers have set off a wave of research on advanced hypersonic aircraft. The technical and tactical indicators of weapons and equipment have put forward higher requirements for carbon/carbon composite materials for thermal protection in terms of high temperature resistance, high strength, light weight and low cost.
Similar to other composite materials, the carbon fiber preform structure is an important factor in determining the performance, quality and production cost of carbon/carbon composite materials.
The needle punched 3D preform structure is a lap joint between carbon cloth layers provided by the mesh tire. It not only has a high interlayer performance of the quasi-three-dimensional structure, but also has the advantages of being suitable for profiling, strong designability in the direction of continuous long fibers and high fiber utilization in the plane direction.
In addition, the preparation process has a high degree of automation, a short cycle and stable quality, and can efficiently prepare carbon fiber preforms of various complex shapes.
At present, needle-punched preforms and their carbon/carbon composite materials are mostly used in rocket engine throat liners, diffusers, exit cones, aircraft brake discs and other hot end components with simple shapes and other low load requirements.
