I watched Solo the other day. After all the stuff going on behind the scenes like losing the directors and taking forever to see any trailers etc. I wasn't hopeful for the movie and I wasn't a fan of The Last Jedi so I watched it with low expectations. I actually enjoyed it though. I probably preferred it to the more recent Star Wars movies. I normally hate prequels but I thought they did this one pretty well.
I didn’t even know that panel was pansexual. Makes no sense, he was literally flirting with leia in the original. But I won’t think too much about it because it was a great movie
Most of the star wars fans including me was worried about Solo. But the movie turned out to be better than what I expected. Even if the movie was a masterpiece some fans would still try to find flaws because Harrison Ford isn't in the movie. Solo was a movie that just made me like Han, Chewie and Lando even more.
I liked Solo, it was OK but I agree that it could've been better. The other Star Wars films so far I've adored, yes even Rogue One in spite of its flaws.
I like Rogue One, specially the last 40 minutes, the last 40 minutes of Rogue One are perfection but on repeated viewings the first 90 minutes are uneven for my taste.
I see what you mean but that disappearing lightsaber was on purpose and it was awful. That helmet was an accident btw. there's a difference between goofy fun and mess ups, and straight up breaking the immersion in your film and making things disappear and ignoring all logic.
I felt that the message of Solo was about freedom and independence against oppressive regimes and manipulative massive organizations. All the villains are parts of massive bureaucracies or criminal organizations while Han and Chewie are independent space pirates just trying to get by. They're the every man. And the Enfys Nest reveal was only shocking to me because the girl looked like a regular person as opposed to Black Widow Charlize Theron or some other intense, female action movie star. She looked liked a regular person just fighting back against oppression. For a movie about guy who always shoots and steals stuff, this was a pretty Libertarian movie
I loved this movie, for me it was a movie about friendship and this idea delivered perfectly, also I think these movies are for new fans because they know fans of the original trilogy will hate everything. When i saw solo there was this young woman and her mother they did not knew anything about star wars and they really loved the movie they has fun... Those people are the Target Disney is looking for
BRAULIO ALBERTO CASTRO CISNEROS I think that's kind of the problem though, they're specifically targeting people who aren't fans of the series and not people who actually enjoy and have been fans for years unfortunately
James Lamb I Guess You are right, however I do not think they are doing bad movies, I suppose that trying to satisfy fans will be imposible and they preer to do their own thing that might dissapoint hardcore fans but eventualy will be profitable
You definitely articulated perfectly what was wrong and right about Solo and Star Wars. I definitely agree with you about how they handled the execution of the “SJW” scenes. It felt forced as oppose to being something natural and thought provoking. It just falls flat. It just sucks cause some Star Wars fans point this out and express their views (sometimes poorly) then the media spins it, making them sound anti-everything or political. Great job tho! And yeah Solo was ok .. didn’t hate it or love it.
Lew Archer 1949 sjw or social justice warrior, according to the actual definition- a person who expresses or promotes socially progressive views. The only problem is.... they all just happen to be big hypocrites.
if your favorite burger joint gives you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
Here's the problem: Disney has destroyed the most important character in Star Wars - Luke Skywalker... So, with Luke ruined, unfortunately nothing else seems to matter... People have invested 40 years, for Rian Johnson to sh*t on our favorite character. I really enjoyed SOLO and it's a shame that it's taking the brunt of The Last Jedi backlash.
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.

I thought that Solo has way worse writing than The Last Jedi. The naming scene, the forced in references(no pun intended) and the stupid series of “twists” at the end. I don’t think I could ever watch it again.
Red Pillman Honestly this movie wasn’t SJWy in comparison to Last Jedi. The stealing of that blue resource thing did remind me of America and Oil from Middle East though.
The conclusion I came to with this movie is that Star Wars fans suck. Solo was fantastic and we're very fortunate to have a piece of media that is so true to the franchise while simultaneously bringing something fresh and new to the universe. It was a damn good movie and I've already watched it more than Rogue One.
While it is not my favorite Star Wars movie, I enjoyed Solo quite a bit. But I hate how a lot of Star Wars fans act, especially those who act as if you like anything Star Wars related that is outside of the Original Trilogy then you are not a “true Star Wars fan.” I also hate those people who most likely made statement like George Lucas raped their childhood when the Prequel Trilogy was in the theaters and now that the new trilogy is out and the thing to hate, they now act as if the movies were always secretly brilliant. I love all Star Wars movies, but I usually try to avoid interacting with many of the Star Wars fans because I don’t know how unbearable they will become.
i have no idea why people try to take terrestrial things like "pansexuality" and apply them to a fictional, intergalactic world. however you may define "pansexuality", i bet in the star wars universe it's not called that.
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
frank unodostres Lol you do know that 90% of Star Wars is basically terrestial things like pansexuality and Nazis and rebellions and racism and politics etc etc?
but these terms are entire terrestrial. what I am saying is in the world of star wars aka in space, these discussions would never happen because the people there have other POVs on those topics. for example i don't think a feminism debate would ever happen in the star wars universe because women are known to be just as capable as men and everybody there knows it.
ArmyVetRod PatreonVideos You sound like you're just here to debate with him about TLJ, even though he didn't even mention it? Not saying it's bad I'm just saying it doesn't seem like there's anything provoking it.
I think most people liked this one. Yeah a lot of people don’t care for it but I mean it’s got a 60 percent audience rating so obviously majority of people like it and a lot of online reviews are still fake and still complain about TLJ even though solo is so different. Also people leave negative reviews just because they hate Kathleen kennedy
Crispy Wafflez yes but the same time some people are commenting it's an ok movie and giving it 5 stars. Go take a look at the reviews and you'll see what I mean.
Crispy Wafflez That's not at all as true as you might think. Keep in mind, people are more willing to give a positive review to a movie than a negative review. The fact 40% took time out of their day to log in or make accounts for Rotten Tomatoes and fill out a negative review says a lot. Also, there are probably fake reviews. People have already seen Disney trying to fake critic reviews. There was a Deadpool 2 review boosting the rating that has since been removed, and I've found about 8-9 negative reviews labeled as "fresh" by Rotten Tomatoes employees.
I loved solo, I thought it was super fun, I loved all the characters and I loved all the nudges to the wider universe. I actually loved the equal rights robot, I personally found it more funny than anything else? Like, she obviously was supposed to be ridiculous and it was awesome. I felt like they did a really good job on the movie and I thought it gave a lot of insight on the development of these characters.
Nudges? As darth maul turns his head too the audience and whips out his lightsaber..... 🙂 i need to watch the movie again favorite part was that too short war scene. Could have been worse though. Biggest concern though was that if 9 follows solo and TlJ thats 3 bad movies in a row with awful games and awful tv show thats 3 years of bad star wars. So hopfully the next wave of star wars content will turn this around.
Honestly some things in the movie seemed a bit forced. L3 is this 2 dimensional character that just lacks subtlety from her cause(Thank god she got shot). When they are finally confronted by the maruders in the third act they reveal their identities for no reason. (I mean it's not like they got to know Han any better) It's just weird because there was no motivation to do so. Also why couldn't they do that earlier? And their identies don't mean anything for the series. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't a bad movie. However, I would argue that the movie is really just passable. I mean the movie kinda comes off as ham fisted at times. Not TLJ ham fisted but still.
Malik Jackson the film the ok, the pirate guys were the start of the rebellion so that’s their importance but I agree, they had to make that clear for them to make sense but they could have done it better. The pirate guys or whatever they were called were very important fo the series
Statement: I am disappointed that I didn't get to kill L337 myself. By kill, I mean shoot her in the CPU, then cut out her hard drive, shred it up, then toss the shredded hard drive in a fusion reactor. That, my meatbag, is how to ensure a droid is dead.
Before I had a chance to see the actual movie, I read a lot of negative critics. So I was surprised and glad that I visited the movie anyway as it turned out to be just great. Much better then 'the last jedi'. Solo in my opinion was much closer to those elements that made the very first 3 movies in the 70'ties so successfull: fun, coleness, action, depth of characters even a story that made somehow sense (at least more sense then in 'the last jedi'). Also the actor for the Han Solo role did a great job in my opinion as he resisted to be just a 'look a like' or 'act a like' Harrison Ford and rather understand the nature of the role character and act accordingly. I liked Aleden Ehrenreich's Han Solo as much as I like Harrison Fords.
Eiichiro Oda He is MOST DEFINITELY not in the minority. The majority of people liked TLJ. There is just a very , very vocal minority of people constantly hating on it
not goin to try and meat ride u but ive been on a 3 day binge on ur videos ,and i literally thought u had a twin with your Let me explain channel haha you my friend have got a sub and i thank you krep up the great work
I really liked Solo honestly. TFA and this film had characters who were charming and charismatic. Thats one of the reasons I liked the OT so much. Not to mention a gripping story, which the two films I listed had, at least for me anyway. About some of the politics surrounding Solo, Lando’s sexuality wasn’t even brought up in the film, they were hinting at it with the scene where L3 was saying how Lando loved her, but that seemed more like an insecurity of her own. That she loved Lando and that she felt he loved her back. As for her character, many of her lines didn’t seem to bother me all that much. If anything, I took it more as a parody of someone really passionate about equal rights. Also, droids disliking or seeming distant from humans is nothing new in the SW universe. Remember K-2S0 or HK-47? Even Chopper in Rebels was rude to a few organic life forms, those life forms being his crew mates. Its a shame Solo didn’t do that well, I think its honestly my favorite among the Disney SW films and I hope to see more of these in the future. However, I’m not too fond on the idea of an Obi Wan film. His character has been completely fleshed out for me, in the OT, prequels, and The Clone Wars TV show. However, I would love to see a Boba Fett film. People could argue that his lack of screen time is what made him cool, but I think just having a 2 hour film is all I would need from his character. Something like a western inspired bounty hunter film. The fact that James Mangold is directing this couldn’t make me happier. Logan is one of my favorite films of all time and it has that western style just spread throughout it. I do hope that Disney lets him put more of his stamp on this. Any who, I’m just excited for more SW, especially that Resistance animated show. To see more of the inner workings and politics of the New Republic would be awesome.
I mean, the Original Trilogy didn't only have incest - its climax is an abused son desperately trying to get his abusive daddy to love him. That's WAY more abusive than anything between Kylo and Rey. LUKE'S DADDY CUT OFF LUKE'S HAND. Kylo didn't even singe Rey's eyebrows.
I didn't watch it yet and I don't know if I will. A few critics who I trust has the same opinion: solo is average movie, not that special. so I'm not that excited to spend my money to go see it.
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
his Tipping point was the customers that will no longer pay for Star Wars?....lol...my tipping point was the moment that as he said "we all can like or dislike a movie that is the beauty" ...so the moment we express our opinion of not liking the movie and direction and mixing it with sexuality, identity politics, ideologies, etc.....like going to a restaurant and saying "I didn't like the pasta, i didn't order flies and condoms, and marxist pins on my plate"....immediately Media, other fans, and Disney and lucas film employees and executives started calling us "white supremacists, Trumpers, Female haters, sexists, racists, cry babies that live in a basement, losers, Vocal minority" etc etc....that was my tipping point....for you it was customers responding to the verbal abuse, for me it was the verbal abuse.
Leticia Vieira If you go on a Tuesday to Cinemark or Megaplex it's only $5 and I think it was pretty good. If you see it, you might see what I'm talking about. I had low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality.
I was very sceptical (sry if i cant spell i am from Sweden) before i saw it but i walked out feeling that i was glad to give it a chance it was a fun time and a great adition to the franchise, I actually think it was a Fantastic movie and i think more people should give it a chance
I personally really enjoyed it. Seeing it a second time this week to see if it stacks up, but I thought it was a super fun ride. Showing a less cynical Han.
Solo was a fun movie. It’s not that serious. The Last Jedi I feel tried too hard, however I really liked Mark Hamill’s performance. I agree with you about Rogue One. It was meh to me but once I saw the ending it all came together.
I'm a friggin black puertorican and these people call me a nazi cause i dont like the Last Jedi script que se vayan pal carajo y me cago en sus putas madres.
Loved the movie. Considering the problems making it, they did pretty well. I'm all for more of these types of movies and get the feeling that they may be developing an alternative kind of saga, probably dealing with the criminal underworld. I agree with you, the fandom is far more interesting than the franchise at the moment. There will probably be a book coming about the psychology of fandom. There is definitely something more going on than some people not liking a movie. Death threats and petitions? That's DEEP. If you're one of those people, you might want to have a look in the mirror.
Everyone's mad at Kathleen Kennedy but tell me, what do you all think she does? Like she produces, she doesn't do much creatively. They have a story team and directors and screenwriters so blame them lol
Correct me if I'm mistaken, there's still a lot about this stuff that I'm not fully aware of. But didn't she give the concept of the force a gender? That whole "The Force is Female" shtick? I also recall her saying something along the lines of Star Wars isn't for boys anymore more.
Ryrule don't know about the force being female thing. I'll look it up tho, but I haven't seen mentions of that yet. And by the other point is probably meant to so that they will try to sell to girls and guys for toys and shit. Makes sense financially, it'd make more profit of being a more neutral property like the superheroes or dr who, etc
Ryrule she controls whats funded and shit, which directors are hired and general marketing, but the Lucasfilm story team has way more control over what is done creatively
They’re mad her because she produces. It’s her movie. That’s why producers win the Oscar for best picture and not directors, screeenwriters, etc. She picks directors, she approves the story, she chooses the screenwriters, she approves budgets and she has final cut before handing it to the studio. So if it is a bad movie...it’s ultimately her fault even if she didn’t direct or write it.
I thought 'Solo' was okay as well. I had moderately low expectations after all the turmoil behind-the-scenes was discovered, and I ended up being surprised by it in a few ways like with the energy it had. That said, I agree how it is basically a standard movie for a great character, which is why it felt all the more inessential to have been made despite being a fine diversion for two hours or so. Love the insight you keep bringing to these topics no matter how big or small, Art! Keep it up!
Nah of course not. I do believe every movie should be given the chance - but this specific boycott was skewed: 1) it was shaming anyone else who did go see it. Even WORSE, liked it. 2) it had dudes buying out the theater so people can’t go see it. THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE lol
Pathetic Weeb I would say that boycotting and not seeing the movie aren’t the same. Not seeing it is one thing. When your trying to convince other individuals to not see it because your against it is another. It’s kinda like “ I don’t eat meat. So no one else should eat it because my opinion should be universally accepted as law”
Its simple: if people are talking about boycotting: and you want to see it. Be a woman or man: and still see it. If they harass you: why are you seeking them out? If you boycott: and get harassed for doing so: who cares? Look at the numbers: the mediocrity is shining through: and as they keep making trash: it'll keep being rejected. Kind of like how Lucasfilm spent three years talking up the Chinese market and how they need more Asians for "diversity"...and now that China has rejected that twice in a row: they claim "it never mattered."...stuff like that lolololol. As i'm sure that will definitely help the brand going forward: by scapegoating the market: you openly admitted you wanted lol. I wonder why there's a boycott...geez, the REAL question: is why is there OFFENSE to one? Answer: Shills. In case anyone missed it. And also weaklings count as well. As if a boycott KEEPS them from going or EFFECTS THEM going? Yeah, that's called weak lolol.
Honestly, I think you dismissing the people boycotting Solo (including me) as childish is a bit shortsighted and narrow-minded. Why is it childish to not want to give your money to a company that actively disrespects you? If you receive bad service, you should not be expected to fork over your own cash. For comparison's sake, would you call Martin Luther King, Jr., and Rosa Parks childish for boycotting the bus company that got her arrested for sitting in the front of the bus? If you wouldn't, then why would you call it childish when a company that says white people are evil and men are dumb gets boycotted by, well, white people and men? When they repeatedly call the fans stupid and say they know what's best for us? When they not only not listen to criticism, but actively make fun of it via Twitter and interviews? I mean, you already somewhat see this. You, too, felt patronized by the droid L337, did you not? Just like we felt patronized by Leia and Holdo in _The Last Jedi,_ who scolded Poe as an idiot when he made a strategically sound decision that in fact saved everyone (if the Dreadnought had lived, they would've never been in a chase to begin with), as well as killed about 100,000 enemy combatants - all at the cost of only 15 lives and 5 garbage-tier bombers. In real life, that would be a legendary feat. In Star Wars, as well. Imagine if a Jedi with only 15 clones wiped out an entire army of battle droids! And I heard Han gets walked on by the women in this movie. At one point, he sits in a seat and L337 says it's her seat and he needs to get out in a rather rude manner. Does he have any witty replies? Does he stay seated? You know, like Han would if Leia would've said such a thing in the OT? Nope, he gets right out and apologizes. Oh, and there's this: i.redd.it/6aw3vw8uep501.jpg Not to mention, Mark Hamill is a hero to many of us. Seeing our hero get torn down and ripped to pieces will of course make us angry. He looks broken, depressed, and done with life. Just a few years ago, he was the most alive he'd been in years! They took that from him, like they took it from us. *I hope you don't brush this comment aside as more shouting like SJWs do (Kathleen and Rian, as well as the new soy addition Jonathan Kasdan).* Oh, and before people bring this strawman into play: yes, I am comparing this to the bus boycott. "That's different because they arrested someone." So it's different only because our laws were different? I'm sure if the heads at Lucasfilm could, they would also arrest fans that disagreed. After all, look what they did to Hamill, Lord, and Miller (it's heavily believed in Star Wars fan circles that Lord and Miller's undoing was their attempt to satirize L337 because she was so absurd of a character, which made Kasdan and Kennedy angry because they saw her as a prophet; see ruclips.net/video/Oh-zSq8Zoo0/видео.html ).
Can we just stop arguing about things that really don't need arguing about? If you don't like a movie, that's great! Have your own opinion! If you did, great! Every movie has flaws and problems. If we just accept this fact then I think we'll all live better. I liked Solo, it was a fun movie and dang, the CGI was amazing! There hasn't been a Star Wars movie that I inherently hate, I have my problems with all the movies, but I still like them. If you don't like all the Star Wars movies, that's awesome! Just don't shame people about their opinion.
“They need to stop making movies on originals and make their own” Like as much as I agree with this statement, much of Disney’s Star Wars was “original and new” stories they wanted to tell, which has been an issue. There’s so much hate for Rey.
I think fandom sometimes is cancer but in some cases is for a legitimate reason, I love when people look at other people criticism and dismiss them putting their own opinion as truth. For me I have lost interest in sw, one for the fandom and the other because the movies lack what I initially wanted, do I go and bitch about it in every comment section?. No. but there is an effect the new movies has had in some people and covering your eyes and ears and ignore criticism and claim that they are just crazy fanboys is insulting to a big percentage of the fanbase. I dont believe in boycotts either, a movie should be based on its own merits, but this informs you the current state of the sw community, listen to criticism.
I'm more of a film fan than a star wars fan. Star wars and empire strikes back are some of my favorite films. So I judge each film as how they work as films. The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens, while not perfect, are the best films in the series since episode 4 and 5. Everything else in the franchise range from solid to terrible for me
Adriano Vazquez ok please explain to me how TLJ was ranked as a decent film for you just based on its plot sequence and characters with their backgrounds from previous Star Wars films( for example dramatically changing Luke).
Also apparently I got it totally wrong, but I never saw an implication that Lando was into the Bot? I thought she just said that because her ego is too big, I thought it was a joke? Then again I also don't really care... Don't see the problem with characters being into non humans in a universe where there's twileks.
I really don't get why companies continue to do this, alienating the vast majority of their audience with this SJW and political nonsense no one is asking for in their entertainment.
ShadowsHeat how is it alienating the vast majority? It’s two characters out of an entire movie? A universe with inter-species relationships and most likely sex bots lol
Gavin Jones because 99% of the complaints are about race and women. ... ... y'all love to tell people that you aren't a certain thing, but do nothing to separate yourself or condemn the people you claim you're so different than
Remember, the 1st was based on hope and mythology of every culture, now it's about the cash and cashing in on cullture ...and you can see through it. SOLO was great fun...and that is all. - making up for the OVER REACH that was TLJ
I actually really enjoyed solo. I went in with low expectations, but it was honestly just really fun. The stakes weren't too high, it was funny, solo was funny and charming. It was believable. Was fun to just have a star wars movie where the stakes weren't too high and crazy. I really enjoyed it. 7/10 for sure.
2:43 People just don't like Katelyn Kennedy because she's a woman. I beg your damn pardon? I truly did not expect you to believe the "fans are misogynist" fake argument. Very disappointing to hear that from you
There is no incest in the OT. They had no idea they were brother and sister. Besides, Leia was never really interested on Luke. She was only teasing with him. Also, at the time, it was considered female empowerment that she could kiss who she wanted. Yes....morals do change with time but it was that. Her character was kind of female empowerment back then. Funny enough, none did care at the time because it was not so "in your face". Leia was there but she was a great character and fun to watch. So, none ever called her a "slut" or anything and none ever will. But its the same problem with the goofiness, the ewoks. The OT had its issues. The thing is, the OT also had a very simple story going around. Quite straightforward. Together with likeable characters, the key ones all going through some emotional character arc. It had these new creative bad guys who were amazing. It had this new concept of the force. Both Obi Wan and Yoda were amazing characters very well done to fit with the kind of philosophies they were talking about. John Williams did this amazing score which was brand new at the time and breathtaking. Now, if you try and look for similar things in the new movies......its just not there. They are running on fumes. The OT fuelled a big gas tank but they are running on it and just trying to see how far it goes. And the kind of additional gas they tried to put into the tank was just very low quality. The only new character with some sort of possible arc is Kylo and even him seems to be all over the place. The others are just.....toys on a movie set. If they manage to put some top quality gas in the tank, this thing will start flying again. If they keep putting low quality gas, they will get stuck somewhere. And Solo already shows the ship slowing down to a stop. Their overconfidence was their biggest weakness And now they will pay for their lack of vision. It is unavoidable....it is their destiny.
3:00 That was a great joke! One of my favorites. It shows their characters and their dynamic and fits really well. Yes, it's obvious, but that's the point. She doesn't care for subtlety.
Didn't like this video. Thumbs down. Solo is bombing at the box office because of the boycott. I had money and time to go see this movie, but I did not go because I hated TLJ. I hate Ryan Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy because they are not listening to the fans and instead they double down on pushing their own agenda on the public. TLJ had horrible writing and you didn't acknowledge it till now with your comment on the flawed self sacrifice scenes. Funny how before this video, to you TLJ was great, but now you point out some flaws on the movie. The boycott is working and somehow this fact is flying over your head! WTF dude? Want to understand where I'm coming from? watch Alex Becker's Channel latest video on this movie. And NO, I'm not an Alt'right a-hole. I'm a Latino gamer/movie fan like you!
Ouups, my bad! Minute 4:11 of your "What THE LAST JEDI Means for Star Wars" video, you are saying "Star Wars does it right", No dude, Star Wars doesn't do it right. See the numbers of Solo? Disney is not doing Star Wars right.... Yup, time to unsubscribe. hasta nunca, adios.
If a differing opinion disturbs you that much, then I wish you the best amigo. **thinking one aspect is good doesn't mean I think it's all great. Hence why you skipped the flaws I mentioned in that exact video you scrubbed. Narrative.
I really liked Solo because it was the first Star Wars movie since I can remember that had my mom light up in excitement (she saw A New Hope when it was first in theaters)
Maikeru Komotachi lol that's the thing we always respect their right to like or dislike something but meanwhile we are call racists, bigots, over weight white men, and women haters when we are voicing valid criticisms.
Personally, I feel as if they shouldn't give a damn about any of that. If a character is fun and interesting, I don't care if they're male, female, gay, straight, black, white, etc.
Monjish Bhattacharyya I'm being sarcastic. It's a comment on how hysteria is making people think that anything that is all inclusive is a product of 'sjw' thinking. People don't know what this means.
My problem is this. Disney had so much to tap into. They chose instead to wipe the canon and start making movies to explain the backstories of things that disnt need to be told. Solo was a movie made to make the dice important because the last jedi put too much emphasis on something that had no previous significance.
I didn't find L3 annoying the way some people do. A little too one-dimensional, maybe, but the film's fast pace left little time to really flesh anything out. Maybe it's just because I've wondered about the questions of droid rights in the past; it's never been explored in the movies, but there are various other bits of media in both the old and new canon that touch upon it a little bit. In the old canon there were even a few droid rights movements, as well as a serious droid revolt at one point! Maybe a spinoff film focusing on a droid would be a good thing to try? It's an angle mainline Star Wars hasn't focused on too deeply--probably because it's closer to full on science fiction than Star Wars normally leans--but it's good for them to try new things with these spinoff movies, right?
The 'Han shot first' thing was the first real example of the SW fanbase freaking the fuck out. For 20 years (77-97) nobody gave a shit about who shot who when. It wasnt until the special addition that suddenly that became the central defining characteristic of Han Solo. Now everybody claims that Han shooting first was the first thing they recall about the character... ya right.
Honestly, having not watched Solo, it already sounds like a better movie than Rogue One. RO was literally a movie with two acts (the third is GO WATCH E4) and an inciting incident OVER HALFWAY INTO THE MOVIE. (when Erso's dad dies)
The dark maul element was awesome, cause I read part of the book and they can really make something interesting with maul if they don't just let him die rndm
I thought it was great since it added a lot of new things and made you ask questions like what planet is that or where is this at etc the robot equality thing was actually pretty funny and made sense since Landos robot is actually smart enough to notice how abused and misused robots are lol
It felt like a movie anyone can skip. It's not gonna be important in episode 9, it tries to take on an iconic character (like anyone can take on Harrison Ford), and it was released in the same time as Infinity War and Deadpool.
I honestly want to see a Star Wars Underworld(I want a paycheck if this becomes a thing) series of connected films. If we're getting a Boba Fett movie and now a Solo film then i'd like to see a movie where we see Han, Lando, and Boba Fett on a mission that Jabba gives them. I guarantee that this is a far better idea for Star Wars right now than the sequel trilogy, right now the sequel trilogy has not had any considerable world building or anything to get attached to, but a series of interconnected Star Wars underworld gangster/smuggler/bounty hunter films sounds good to me.
I had really low expectations for this movie after the last jedi, but man I seriously enjoyed it. I think that the actor did a great job and although it didn't take a lot of risks, i honestly like Star Wars movies better when they stick to the same basic formula and then have more originality when it comes to the individual scenes and details. Like with the last Jedi, it took way too many risks and was basically tripping over itself to be "different" after some people said that the force awakens was too standard (although the force awakens got really good reviews overall and is one of the highest grossing movies of all time so...)
I think it is much more about the changes to older characters and the way some of the newer characters are dismissive to others (The Last Jedi). If people have problems with pansexuality then Deadpool would not being doing so well. The difference is Lando wasn't presented this way when first introduced (would not have gotten by the censors at that time period) but Deadpool was written this way from the beginning. If new characters were presented to the audience with any of the many varieties of sexuality there are out there, I doubt it would have been such a big deal. The other issue, and I believe the reason behind why some are boycotting Solo, is the way some of the fans feel they have been treated. Instead of addressing the issues the fans have in a calm and rational matter, representatives of Lucasfilm and by extension Disney seem to be dismissive of their concerns. Sure there are over the top fans that hate any changes whatsoever but the vast majority of them will listen to reason and are only trying to be heard. From a business standpoint, these people are your bread and butter. The big fanboys will see a film in the theater multiple times, but if they feel unappreciated (just like any other customer at any business) they won't come to your place of business and warn other's off of it.
I actually like the new Star Wars movies, except for.the Last Jedi. But... The Force Awakens - 8/10 Rogue one - 6/10 Solo 6/10- Thank God for CG Last Jedi - 2/10
Actually thought it was like watching a video game. Loved the fact that it got straight into the action as well so it was really fun to watch it for me
Han shooting first was never in discussion. In the original movie, Greedo never shot. I loved that they had Han shoot Tobias Beckett before Tobias never even shot, it was there way of correcting the mistake they made in the remastered version where Greedo shoots first. I loved pretty much the entire Solo movie, with one exception... L3-37. Everything about the movie was great imo, except for L3-37. That droid single handedly destroyed all the rewatchability of the movie.
I'm not a Star Wars fan and I'm honestly not very interested in the movies, but watching all of this go down had been fascinating and kind of depressing. The Star Wars fandom had become increasingly toxic and silly. I've seen multiple people reject film criticism as a profession due to the reception of a single film, which boggles my mind.
All the movies I've seen without looking at reviews I've liked better than the movies I watch after I look at reviews, get your own opinion first guys!
I feel the same way as you. Us Fans take it too seriously. The last Jedi can’t ruin your childhood because you already had a great childhood with the Original Trilogy. The original trilogy is already done. Disney can’t undo the great movies they were. Solo is a fun enough way to spend a few hours and that’s what really matters for me in a movie. If the movie has a deeper meaning that’s cool too. Troy is a great example. It gets really deep at times but in the end it’s also just a really fun action movie that is a blast to watch.
I walked out of Solo extremely depressed. I felt like the writers just made up their own star wars universe without regards to the previous films. All of the connections to the rest of the star wars universe felt very forced. The actor who played solo did an okay job but they should have chosen a different actor, I felt as if I was just watching a random sci-fi film that had nothing to do with star wars....and then the movie just ends ...what a slap in the face
What's your favorite Star Wars movie?
besides the Holiday Special of course
Empire but I really enjoyed Solo pretty fun movie!
The AtZ Show a new hope
Return of the jedi idk, I just love Luke so much in that movie
That is a hard one. I really like Empire but I also like Revenge of the Sith
I really didn't mind Solo... Probs cos my expectations were "Solo" .... (I'll show myself out)
That wasn’t even a pun
I watched Solo the other day. After all the stuff going on behind the scenes like losing the directors and taking forever to see any trailers etc. I wasn't hopeful for the movie and I wasn't a fan of The Last Jedi so I watched it with low expectations. I actually enjoyed it though. I probably preferred it to the more recent Star Wars movies. I normally hate prequels but I thought they did this one pretty well.
^ You sure you watched the movie? there wasn't one lightsaber in it at all? hmmmm
Stavre Productions there was a lightsaber at one part
*Lando:* “Do you want anything?”
*L337:* “EQUAL RIGHTS!”
Lmao it’s a no from me, dawg
good for you...... dog,
It helped that your expectations were low, if you expected something good, you would've probably been disappointed
It wasn't that bad. It was a cash grab but it still wasn't that bad.
Agreed. I’m just left wondering - like Antman - what could’ve been with the original directors
It’s a cash grab but it’s a fun cashgrab
Jennifer Mc all movies tehinically are cash grabs
didn't grab that much cash opening weekend lol
that can be argued...
I guess you could say I'm LUKEwarm on Solo.
Matthew Tuazon so you're dead?
Loved solo, the first half an hour was weak but as soon as Lando is introduced it picks up
I didn’t even know that panel was pansexual.
Deressa I just like that they kinda explain why Han and Lando are always screwing each other over.
rose should have pushed Finn away from the lazer and sacrificed herself instead
A Rebranded Channel that’s not a bad idea actually
I liked Solo, it was OK but I agree that it could've been better. The other Star Wars films so far I've adored, yes even Rogue One in spite of its flaws.
TheSlayFer Ch. T. dude Rogue One is the best thing since Return of the Jedi
what do you mean by "yes even Rogue One"?
It was by far the best of the new ones in my opinion.
TheSlayFer Ch. T. Rogue one is the best one out the new ones.
Count Stamar Agreed. Rogue one has been possibly the best thing Disney has made.
I hate last jedi but love solo
so I'm the only one here who thinks Rogue One is the best SW movie since Return of the Jedi. OK, cool
"Soooooo..lo is a star wars story"
Ok you've earned my like already.
Then I guess Disney can keep losing money :)
James Lamb I Guess You are right, however I do not think they are doing bad movies, I suppose that trying to satisfy fans will be imposible and they preer to do their own thing that might dissapoint hardcore fans but eventualy will be profitable
Disguised Centennial Wym lose? There gaining new fans lmao
No, it was about making han into a nice guy at the start and a super nice guy at the end.
And hope he is an asshole at the start ( except for money)
You definitely articulated perfectly what was wrong and right about Solo and Star Wars. I definitely agree with you about how they handled the execution of the “SJW” scenes. It felt forced as oppose to being something natural and thought provoking. It just falls flat.
It just sucks cause some Star Wars fans point this out and express their views (sometimes poorly) then the media spins it, making them sound anti-everything or political.
Great job tho!
And yeah Solo was ok .. didn’t hate it or love it.
They’ve played the Goofy/Pluto scenario with the “robo-rights”
Anyone who uses the bullshit term “SJW” unironically is a shithead who should be curbstomped.
Lew Archer 1949 what about the actual SJWS? Shouldn't they be curbstomped too?
As Pooped By Anakin Skywalker I dunno.
Lew Archer 1949 sjw or social justice warrior, according to the actual definition-
a person who expresses or promotes socially progressive views.
The only problem is.... they all just happen to be big hypocrites.
Daytona in the background =like
I thought it was great.
if your favorite burger joint gives you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
*clears throat* What?
ArmyVetRod PatreonVideos Wrong chain, bud.
ArmyVetRod PatreonVideos lol what
EPM 101 I wad disappointed. The meaning of Solo name is stupid. I hated Lando Droid fetish. That is stupid. The movie is crap.
I loved Solo but I hated The Last Jedi, IMO TLJ is the worst star wars movie by far.
It was a alright movie. It got my SOLO appreciation is all 😉
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
ArmyVetRod PatreonVideos I’m not getting into that quagmire. Calm down
Solo was a good movie but TLJ was plagued with identity politics, plot holes and bad writing.
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
What identity politics?
I thought that Solo has way worse writing than The Last Jedi. The naming scene, the forced in references(no pun intended) and the stupid series of “twists” at the end. I don’t think I could ever watch it again.
Red Pillman Honestly this movie wasn’t SJWy in comparison to Last Jedi. The stealing of that blue resource thing did remind me of America and Oil from Middle East though.
Slugthing literally nothing I'm the last Jedi makes any sense in the star wars universe. The writing in this literally can't be worse
Kathleen kennedy.
Thats why.
triplesix she did it effect the movie at all. She’s just stupid
then you should hate almost every Spielberg movie ever because she produced a lot of them
She had no creative control over those. She was the beancounter, organising the logistics and balancing the books.
Spielberg is a man that would never take direction from a woman. That's why his films are good.
B Smith Your sexism is showing.
Kathrine Kennedy is Thanos with the infinity gauntlet.
Nobody hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans.
i have no idea why people try to take terrestrial things like "pansexuality" and apply them to a fictional, intergalactic world. however you may define "pansexuality", i bet in the star wars universe it's not called that.
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is? These people called us Nazis because we didn't like the shitty Last Jedi script.
frank unodostres Lol you do know that 90% of Star Wars is basically terrestial things like pansexuality and Nazis and rebellions and racism and politics etc etc?
but these terms are entire terrestrial. what I am saying is in the world of star wars aka in space, these discussions would never happen because the people there have other POVs on those topics. for example i don't think a feminism debate would ever happen in the star wars universe because women are known to be just as capable as men and everybody there knows it.
lando was just in love with his femmebot that's all lol
ArmyVetRod PatreonVideos You sound like you're just here to debate with him about TLJ, even though he didn't even mention it? Not saying it's bad I'm just saying it doesn't seem like there's anything provoking it.
This is better then most of the new star war movies
I think most people liked this one. Yeah a lot of people don’t care for it but I mean it’s got a 60 percent audience rating so obviously majority of people like it and a lot of online reviews are still fake and still complain about TLJ even though solo is so different. Also people leave negative reviews just because they hate Kathleen kennedy
Crispy Wafflez yes but the same time some people are commenting it's an ok movie and giving it 5 stars. Go take a look at the reviews and you'll see what I mean.
Gavin Jones honestly most honest fans enjoy it. I mainly see 7 and 8s and yes I see a lot of 5 and 6s as well.
just like the 60 majority democrats who enacted jim crowe in the 1960's because the majority = right?
Crispy Wafflez That's not at all as true as you might think. Keep in mind, people are more willing to give a positive review to a movie than a negative review. The fact 40% took time out of their day to log in or make accounts for Rotten Tomatoes and fill out a negative review says a lot. Also, there are probably fake reviews. People have already seen Disney trying to fake critic reviews. There was a Deadpool 2 review boosting the rating that has since been removed, and I've found about 8-9 negative reviews labeled as "fresh" by Rotten Tomatoes employees.
Disguised Centennial agreed. I was using RT as an example but still look at the polls and comments and it’s still about 60 percent
K2-SO is still my favorite droid.
I loved the movie. Not sure where all the hate is coming from.
icebergthegamer Soylo is paying for TLJ mistakes
How do i know if im that cousin? I have no cousins.
Finally a video where they don't mindlessly rant about how they expected a movie to be. Preach!
I didn't even see the movie.
Just found your channel. I like your commentary, very thought provoking. Keep on making good stuff :D
There are too many damn films. I just skipped out on watching Deadpool too
Infinity war done killed my appetite for this year
Yeah, They shouldn't of intriduced 3 huge film within the a couple weeks if each other.
I liked Solo a lot better than I was expected. I LOVED TLJ, though.
Lew Archer 1949 voice your unpopular opinions !!!
TLJ was incredible and Solo was a lot of fun. It is a great time to be a Star Wars fan
Lew Archer 1949 exactly the same here
Eiichiro Oda He is MOST DEFINITELY not in the minority. The majority of people liked TLJ. There is just a very , very vocal minority of people constantly hating on it
Preach it brother.
not goin to try and meat ride u but ive been on a 3 day binge on ur videos ,and i literally thought u had a twin with your Let me explain channel haha you my friend have got a sub and i thank you krep up the great work
I do not hate Solo. I hate Lucasfilm.
A rational conversation about Star Wars.........I never thought I'd see that again. Subscribed.
I weirdly have a giant crush on you, like for some reason I think you have a really great personality. just gonna put that out there.
It’s pretty worth watching, it’s fun and entertaining and it’s in the Star Wars universe. It feels like an EU novel
if your favorite burger joint gave you a shit sandwich & told you to eat shit and grin or you are a Nazi would you go back? would you care how good their next burger is?
Ryrule those factors wouldn't be considered in anything people hated about TLJ or TFA tho, mainly forces of destiny
Keep it up!
So you're against boycotting? I should watch these movies even if I don't like them?
Nah of course not.
I do believe every movie should be given the chance - but this specific boycott was skewed:
1) it was shaming anyone else who did go see it. Even WORSE, liked it.
2) it had dudes buying out the theater so people can’t go see it. THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE lol
The AtZ Show ok I hadn't heard about that, that's a bit excessive lol
How do you know you don’t like this one if you haven’t seen it? The same guy was largely responsible for a lot of Empire Strikes Back
“Saving what we love” is basically the same theme as Avengers Infinity War
Oh, and there's this: i.redd.it/6aw3vw8uep501.jpg
Not to mention, Mark Hamill is a hero to many of us. Seeing our hero get torn down and ripped to pieces will of course make us angry. He looks broken, depressed, and done with life. Just a few years ago, he was the most alive he'd been in years! They took that from him, like they took it from us.
*I hope you don't brush this comment aside as more shouting like SJWs do (Kathleen and Rian, as well as the new soy addition Jonathan Kasdan).*
Oh, and before people bring this strawman into play: yes, I am comparing this to the bus boycott.
Disguised Centennial did you just compare not watching a movie to fighting for civil rights
Keilah Katter Did you just use the strawman I already proactively took apart
Alden Erenreich is like the Ben Affleck/Batman of Solo, everyone thought he was gonna ruin it but ended up being one of the only good things
“They need to stop making movies on originals and make their own”
Like as much as I agree with this statement, much of Disney’s Star Wars was “original and new” stories they wanted to tell, which has been an issue. There’s so much hate for Rey.
I did not know you could be republicansexual or democratsexual.
I’ve heard overly positive reviews from everyone whose actually seen it
The internet has ruined everything enjoyable.
And yes, I mean that.
I'm more of a film fan than a star wars fan. Star wars and empire strikes back are some of my favorite films. So I judge each film as how they work as films. The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens, while not perfect, are the best films in the series since episode 4 and 5. Everything else in the franchise range from solid to terrible for me
TLJ best? why? FX? the script is indefensible.
ArmyVetRod PatreonVideos Dude, I've seen you go around unnecessarily debating and attacking other people about their opinions. Please stop.
Adriano Vazquez I totally agree with you! I really liked TFA and TLJ!
Project-awesome customs and music
Um, he asked a valid question and gave a opinion on the script. Where in that comment did he attack the OP?
Jacob Weiss they called anyone who said they didn't like the last Jedi (and their are a lot) women hating racists that's why.
ShadowsHeat Don't watch it, it's that simple
Movies reflect the times. If you can't handle it, find a different franchise that reinforces your dinosaur views.
Gavin Jones
because 99% of the complaints are about race and women.

y'all love to tell people that you aren't a certain thing, but do nothing to separate yourself or condemn the people you claim you're so different than
Remember, the 1st was based on hope and mythology of every culture, now it's about the cash and cashing in on cullture ...and you can see through it. SOLO was great fun...and that is all. - making up for the OVER REACH that was TLJ
Nobody hate Star Wars more than Star Wars "fans"
I actually really enjoyed solo. I went in with low expectations, but it was honestly just really fun. The stakes weren't too high, it was funny, solo was funny and charming. It was believable. Was fun to just have a star wars movie where the stakes weren't too high and crazy. I really enjoyed it. 7/10 for sure.
2:43 People just don't like Katelyn Kennedy because she's a woman.
I beg your damn pardon? I truly did not expect you to believe the "fans are misogynist" fake argument.
Very disappointing to hear that from you
If the robot looked like the ex machina robot we wouldn’t have a problem.
Solo was amazing honestly top 5 Star Wars movies for men
There is no incest in the OT.
Their overconfidence was their biggest weakness
And now they will pay for their lack of vision.
It is unavoidable....it is their destiny.
I just am not gunna see it in theaters bc it looks dumb 🤷🏻♂️
Lucas Pigliavento I dout it's as dumb as you think, but I respect that. Maybe wait till it's in Redbox or something.
"to you TLJ was great" huh?
Solo > Infinity war
Come at me haters...
BroCode agreed
BroCode 🙍🙍🙍🙍🙍🙍🙍
Yep.
Apples and oranges, still respect your opinion tho even if i don't agree with it
Maikeru Komotachi lol that's the thing we always respect their right to like or dislike something but meanwhile we are call racists, bigots, over weight white men, and women haters when we are voicing valid criticisms.
People didn’t hate solo. They hated TLJ, and the wisest of us even hated TFA!
Yeah! Star Wars needs more gender stereotypes of old, not this modern progressive all inclusive forward thing stuff. Good grief
It's because of the hostility towards white men.
Alex Soetekouw Productions where? In what film?
Alex Soetekouw Productions there was just a movie about a white male and you all boycotted it lol?
Enfys Nest is now my new favorite Star Wars Character
Because most people like to be miserable, even if they enjoy something, they can’t give up the illusion of misery.
Not gonna lie I watched solo high and loved the shit out the movie, then I watched it again sober.
And I still liked it 😌
Best star wars movie since the original trilogy
My expectations were pretty low so I was pleasantly surprised, I thought it was better then the last 2 movies
I actually like the new Star Wars movies, except for.the Last Jedi.
But...
The Force Awakens - 8/10
Rogue one - 6/10
Solo 6/10- Thank God for CG
Last Jedi - 2/10
This guy looks like the kid from The Middle grown up. Cannot be unseen.
