    When it comes to the top brands, Rolex, Patek, AP etc, the Collector / enthusiast or end user does not want to buy from a Watch Trader, they want to buy from the Dealer..AD but unfortunately you have to, as the flippers have annoyingly bought up all but most of the sought after modes!! 😡

Sellers or manufacturers will raise the price according to hipe, how much a product is wanted and how much we are willing to pay.I think the world is functioning this way at the moment.

    • @MOHIMEDIALLC
      @MOHIMEDIALLC 3 года назад +4

      Simple and real example,
      Dealer trade in on a certain watch is 1500, most aggressive dealer listing is for sale at 3100 so you dont really have room to negotiate.
      You come in offer the seller 2000, and try to sell for 2500 (20% ROI buffer). The reason other people cant get 2500 but we can is they dont take as good of pictures or write as good of descriptions or list for sale in several locations or are transparent throughout the process.
      If someone wants to undercut you further it doesnt make sense because theyre approaching the dealers trade in which is far more convenient and trustworthy so not much incentive there. On the sell side they buy from you because you're selling very aggressively compared to the dealer. And in the beginning when you dont have a reputation, you could come down to 2200 to be super aggressive and that's still 10% ROI which is still much better than the stock market. Other traders would even buy at 2200 to try and sell for 2500 themselves so you can liquidate at anytime for 2-2.2k to other people in the business. Hold times for beginners are like 2-4 weeks but it's not uncommon to sell within a week if priced aggressively enough or if right time right place for a retail buyer.
      Apply this scenario to 5k, 10k, 20k watches and you quickly see how just a couple deals a month can make a huge impact to your income.
      Hopefully that clears it up. Really similar to real estate business and in it's simplest form is a scaled down version of what car dealers and watch dealers do, without the overhead and employees allowing you to get by without crazy dealer margins. In it's most complicated form you become a 1 man hedgefund and consultant that deals exclusively with watches and mitigating downside risk exposure.

    Hey, If the watch trader can make 275% for sure he is crushing the party he buys from! OR he is selling to the end user at a price the watch is not worth! You cant have it both ways if a watch trader can make 275% he is ripping someone off for sure!

    The only people I know who make money on watch trading either hold the watches for a LOOOOOOOONG time, or are into money laundering. Buy a $100k watch here using funds obtained from organised crime (car rebirthing, drug sales, prostitution etc) put it on your wrist, fly somewhere and sell it to recoup the money. You get a small commission (and a bullet if you don’t turn up with the watch or mess up the resale).
    The classic money laundering used to be casinos until they clamped down on it. You expected to lose a percentage to the house but could come away with clean money.
    With watch trading if you know what you are doing you don’t lose money.
    Most border officials wouldn’t recognise a PP, AP, Richard Milne etc. To them it’s a $50 watch. Sooner or later they will clamp down on it.
