I've been an amateur swimmer for the past seven or so years, when I got into long distance triathlons. I had and still do have a lot to learn and practice. This video is by far the most well put together and useful!
Very interesting but also confusing! I may have misunderstood something but it seems like some of your advice goes against what some other RUclips swimming channels teach, e.g.: - pressure at the front: legs sink x legs rise - apply power during catch
I am also confused about the pressure thing. It is possible he meant a different kind of pressure, but it is very unclear. To be clear: Excessive downwards pressure at front ==> legs sink Good backwards pressure (propulsion) at front --> you go faster, so your legs float more easily.
Sorry if I confused you. What I meant was that you need to apply pressure down as you first start the catch. I’m not meaning for the full catch into pull phase - you should be applying pressure with your hand towards the your rear. Without the catch at the front it can result in your legs dropping
Having watched quite a few of your swimming videos, they really make sense, however for those beginning to swim who are runners and cyclists, it is really important that they get help to stop them using a cycling motion with their knees whilst swimming, it slows you down and makes your legs sink.
If I swim hard I go around 1:50 per 100 metres; and If I swim steady I go around 1:50 per 100 metres; and If I swim easy I go around 1:50 per 100 metres. It drives me nuts! 🙈
Sculling drills and dog-paddle you recommended have been great! My times are usually faster - and with less effort - in reps immediately after doing those drills. Thanks!
Even the regulars in my local pool seem to have no idea how to swim in a lane, the combination of the groups standing around at each end of the lane and blocking access to the end of the lane for the people actually swimming with those who are swimming but think the middle of the lane is where they need to be making them difficult to pass going the other direction and almost impossible to pass when they're in front even though the lane is wide enough to easily fit 3 swimmers side by side. Using the overtaking for random sprints is probably useful training I suppose, but swimming can be a pretty miserable experience thanks to a small number of people who've given no thought to how they use the lane.
@@keith8771 That just puts off the inevitable catching up with the people at the back of the line for a few more lengths :-(. Also doesn't stop people hopping into the lane and pushing off right in front of you.
Speaking of time, it's not until 01:26 that we get to the first tip for improvement. That's 25% of the entire clip. How can a vlogger take so long to get to the point?
Not sure if you're correct about the head position. Swim coaches typically tell you that you should have a neutral head position and NOT forcing it to be on an angle. That makes your lower body sink.
You should always breath out underwater when swimming. Your breathing when swimming should have a similar pattern to running but more controlled since your head is underwater. Only hold your breath when doing drills/swim/kicks underwater i.e. underwaters after pushing off walls, underwater kicking, and under/overs.

Valuable advices guys as usual. You know how to say things that we just feel but don't know how to characterize and fix them. Thank you 🙏
Man, Mark's swimming form is ON POINT!!
1st out of the water at norseman. Then his team lost his electrolytes 🙄

Lol same. Thats why i just stick to the easy TI swim most of the time.
Excellent, thank you a lot!!!
Great help as usual 👍😀

13 yrs old, very fit because of swimming but now in QUARANTINE rapidly losing strength ,fitness and general motivation to workout. What should I do?
Cant bring myself to do sculling drills.... wonder what it costs me😅
Your Cap is so neat! Did you cut it or how to you manage to not cover your complete ear? I tried cutting mine, but I'm not completely happy with that.
I wish I could subtitle it in Spanish would be super thanks
What slows me down ... is the guy in front of me ;)
juan barrera my bad, sorry about that :-(

It’s called an introduction and background to the subject. Being a vlogger you should understand that.

Do u need to breathe underwater if doing every two stroke or not necessarily

@@skykaptain007 hold your beath while swim/kicks underwater? freestyle requires constant kicking though
Nice video... someone knows what camera he records underwater?
Go pro
Sorry, didn’t get the last tip, what was it?
"Avoiding what they're bad at"
Where has Fraser gotten off to?
Donald Bridgewater he’s still about. Will be back soon 😁
Definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

First suggestion to shave under the arms 0:50😭🤣
whats wrong with that its normal mate
KautiousKat most if not all competitive swimmers shave their legs and probably armpit hair because you can get fAsTeR
