Hi everyone :) So I'm taking a break from posting ODS videos/answering comments for personal reasons and am loving all of the community support I've seen in the comment sections! Jess, we did talked before. I just got back from ODS, first covid class. I am available to give you some updates on ODS
How cold is it inside King Hall during the winter? I’m going in January and am wondering how cold the dorm rooms will be.
So I was there Oct-Nov and it was freezing -- even in King Hall! A lot of us refused to wear anything less than full sweats during night time. Day time isnt as bad but I imagine itll be colder while you're there!
Hello! Can an 18 year old fresh from high school take ODS to be a nurse? Or do I have to go through something else before ODS?
So I believe that you need to have at least a bachelors degree to be accepted as a Naval Officer, but a recruiter would for sure know more details and opportunities! I know that ROTC can be helpful and also the Navy has a lot of programs that pay for education so there might be one that I havent heard of that would work for you :) I'm sorry I couldnt be more helpful!
Hi Jess! I am going to ODS in three days and I had a quick question about luggage. Are you expected to store your luggage in your bedroom closet or once you unpack is there another place for you to store you luggage where you won't get in trouble for it? I'm sure it's not allowed to just be out in your room. I ask because my luggage is a little big... definitely not carry-on luggage size.
Hi there! Congratulations on your upcoming time at ODS! That must be very exciting! So there is a luggage closet there that they will lock up your bag in for the duration of your time there. You're definitely going to want to make sure that nothing is out in your room or unlocked at any point unless the guidebook states that it can be out (clock, shoes on top of wall locker, water bottle when appropriate, etc.). The wall locker is a bit tight though after getting all of your uniforms in there, so I wouldn't pack too much. I believe a class just ended not too long ago, so they should also have left over toiletries and hangers if you don't end up having room to pack those.
