    How long can you expect to keep minnows alive in the tanks. Thanking about building one out of a freezer I have. Under best circumstances in a tank how long will they stay alive

    • @HikeBrothersOutdoors
      @HikeBrothersOutdoors  5 лет назад

      If you can keep the temperature down, the water clean, and have good oxygenation dot-dot. You should have no problem keeping bait alive for months. Hit that subscribe button and check out the other minnow video how to keep minnows alive.

    I'm getting started into keeping my own bait here in ND. Wondering what temperature you try to keep water and what kind of population you can keep in a 50 gal tank?

    What pump is that I have a Grundfos ups15 and can barely get any flow

    • @HikeBrothersOutdoors

      Grundfoss 15-42

      Can you email me a picture of how your pump is set up?

    • @sweetster27
      @sweetster27 5 лет назад

      I think my main problem is my inlet to the pump is too small. I decided to be lazy and use a washer machine hose for the inlet and 3/4 per for outlet. I also have a whole house filter before the pump. I’m thinking of getting sump 1-1/2 flanges and using 1-1/2 pvc the whole way

    • @HikeBrothersOutdoors
      @HikeBrothersOutdoors  5 лет назад

      Does your pump get hot? Sounds like it's starving. Definitely want to up size the intake.

    • @sweetster27
      @sweetster27 5 лет назад

      Doesn’t get hot I only gets steady low pressure stream I swapped the pump out for a taco 0013 from my service van and that helped a little bit not enough to say so

      I bought them from a bait shop that went out of business in the Minneapolis area. I tried researching it and was unable to find out where they came from.

    How do you keep the water cool other than insulation?

    • @HikeBrothersOutdoors
      @HikeBrothersOutdoors  5 лет назад +1

      The water in that system is cooled by a constant trickle of well water in and old water out. I have used chillers in other builds as well.

    • @fields0715
      @fields0715 4 года назад

      Hike Brothers Outdoors what size chiller have you used?I am in the process of getting materials to build a setup and the chilling part is my issue.

    • @HikeBrothersOutdoors
      @HikeBrothersOutdoors  6 лет назад

      joel herek a constant trickle coming in from my well. 280 feet deep(my house is on a hill) and that keeps it cold and clean.
