    What is the best way to remove this bandaid to avoid disturbing the wound? What approved adhesive removers are recommended?

    Thank you for your informative video, however I still have some questions that seem to be impossible in finding answer on the internet cuz everybody repeats the same instructions and tips of manufacturer...so perhaps you could answer these from your rxperience. Should you clean tbe wound each time you change the HC dressing? Ie would that interrupt the healing process by agitation ? and what are ypu looking for when you no longer need to use the HC dressing, ie as soon as the wound is dry, or scabbed like a normal dry dressing? Considering the HC dressing healing appears to need to keep wound moist does it mean the process of drying, scabbing and healing of wound take longer than if using normal dry dressing?

      The would does need to be cleaned at every dressing change. (Saline rinse, then pat the periwound dry). The purpose of a hydrocolloid is to retain moist environment. Moist wound healing is standard practice and will heal faster then a wound with a scab. Plus less scarring. You will see the outter tissue start closing in . You use this until the wound is closed completely. I hope this helped :)

      How do you fix a saline solution? Use at what temp? Apply with what?

      You don't. It's already prepped in a squirt bottle and doesn't need to be warmed up, can be used at room temperature with 4 x 4 gauze to clean wound.

    will this going to peel-off during bathing?

      Bathing is hard but if anything will stick it will be this product although it could still leak when soaking in water. Now for showering you have more options ( Tegaderm, allevyn life are good options)

    This video just repeats says what is said on the directions which is not particularly helpful. Showing specifically how the dressing is used and applied would be much more helpful to those of us who are new to this. It mentions removing the white paper twice but mine only has white paper on one side. Also the use of therms such as "exudate" is completely meaningless to me, and likely others who are not familiar with medical terminology. Try using language with descriptions and terminology more likely to be understood by the general public. I've had minor surgery on my lip for which the dermatologist gave me this dressing. He didn't explain the usage and neither did this video. I still don't understand the application process.

      Hello Phil, I apologize my videos are more directed at healthcare professionals. Although I am more then willing to help you better understand how to use this product.
      Exudate = drainage
      this dressing is not a good choice if the wound is draining.
      how to apply
      1)Cleanse the wound ( sterile water, saline, or drinking water is perfectly acceptable to clean the wound)
      2)Peel back the clear cover on adhesive side of dressing.
      3)Cut the dressing so it overlaps onto the tissue around the wound ( I am assuming it is small so 0.5 cm -1 cm over lap will be fine.
      4)Smooth dressing over wound and surrounding tissue and hold hand over dressing for a few minutes (warmth will help it stick)
      I hope this helps Phil.
      Happy healing
      Nurse Alyssa

      I concur! My doctor only gave me the sealed 4x4 packages with no instructions. Which side do you use? The textured; the smooth? Is there supposed to be a paper that peels off? Mine does not. Geeze!!!!

    Can I use it over bed sore?

    • @NurseAlyssa39
      @NurseAlyssa39  2 года назад +1

      Ya as long as as drainage is very minimal. Although this would not be my choice in dressing. There are many to choose from allevyn life is a great choice and if it is in the coccyx region they have one specificly for that area.
