I will miss mr Frid ,when I was a kid I had to watch Dark Shadows , Barnabas was my hero , its sad to hear of his death ,but at least he lived a ripe old age ,and had over 40 yrs of fans never forgetting him , RIP mr Frid
Whoever suggested building up an oral history of television, like we find here, was a genius. So many of the stars, writers, and people behind the people are disappearing. It's so great that they can still speak and tell their stories.
I've only just now started to watch Dark Shadows on DVD's I've purchased, mainly because I'm not old enough to have watched it on TV when it was new. I really like the show so much, and I want to buy the entire collection of DVD's. My mom watch the show as a young girl, so she remembers it, and I tell her not to tell me what happens. It's sad that Mr Frid passed away, but at least I can still enjoy his acting on DVD's.
I got to see him live in a taxi that was going by the taxi I was in New York City 1970 going through Central Park West. As Jonathan Frid and 3 other cast members one including Grayson Hall, and I did not see who the other was. They were blocked from view. It was a thrill
Jonathan's delivery of his lines came so natural that I believed he loved Josette and didn't want to harm anyone and just felt for his situation so much. Few actors can pull this off .. feeling empathy for an old vampire.. how strange! But, he was that brilliant an actor! I hope he gets acknowledged at the award shows for his legacy somehow. am not into the new movie with Johnny Depp making a mockery of this brilliiant character.I'll see the movie when it is on TV. It's the new writer's faults,
I never noticed Barnabas having an English accent, just a strong proper way for speaking. Listening to Frid speak normally here, I can tell there is a difference. I know Barnabas was supposed to be the distant cousin from England, but I never detected any kind of English accent. I always thought it helped the character he wasn't overwhelmingly British tho. I think I would have hated that.
Bless you Jonathan, you gave us many wonderful moments.

Me too! couldn't stand the thought of missing it. The show had style, not like the vulgar crap today.
Really loved him
That was a great interview

RIP Mr. Jonathan Frid
okay it's official i hate getting old
Amen!
With a name like "Frid" the man had to end up a great actor.
"Jon Frid" just wouldn't fit as Prime Minister or newsman.
Age is so very cruel but compared 2 the alternative i guess its evident
He was'nt "officially" GAY, since he never came out of the "closet"! At least, thats what I been told several times!!
and wasn't it great!!!
